Weewoo

The Weewoo is a baby owl-like Petpet. The White Weewoo is the mascot for the Neopian Times. Originally brown feathered, Weewoos can be painted many colours including pirate, disco, pink, blue, red, mutant, robot and of course, white. The White Weewoo is an example of the way NT writers have slowly become able to influence the site. The author laurensama (http://neopets.com/randomfriend.phtml?user=laurensama), also known as Linny, wanted a White Weewoo to resemble Hedwig from Harry Potter so much, fellow authors hid White Weewoo references in their stories, comics and articles, and even made it one of the symbols for the Neopian Times Writer's Forum (http://ntwriters.proboards53.com). An official drawing of a White Weewoo was finally seen in the story The Weewoo of White (http://neopets.com/newnt/index.phtml?section=14001&week=113), and an official item image was found on October 23, 2003. Snowflake gave the authors who were published in that week's issue a White Petpet Paintbrush, and the White Weewoo was released on October 28 (or 26/27) - the date could be seen as a Neopets holiday for writers.
