In the end it turned out to be Lost Desert, Krueldor, Darigan Citadel, and Roo Island. Roo Islandlost to Lost Desert and DC lost to Krueldor. Lost Desert then too-k the cup. | |||

- This article is about the plot details of the Altador Cup in 2010. For information about Yooyuball, see Altador Cup. For the plot details of 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 see Altador Cup I, Altador Cup II, Altador Cup III, and Altador Cup IV respectively.
Altador Cup V is the 5th installment of the annual Altador Cup Tournament. It is a flash game-centred plot will begin on May 26th, 2010.
News
The fifth annual Altador Cup competition featured a variety of team roster changes. Most notably through the addition of the Team Moltara squad. There are also a couple of familiar faces in new places this year. In a trade that broke up Tyrannia's vaunted Forsaken Five, the club dealt Evrem Guilako to Terror Mountain for Elbin Kroe. Additionally, Brightvale has decided to give goalie Orie Dinelle another shot in front of the net.
In an effort to regain their competitive edge, the Haunted Woods has parted ways with defenseman Autrey Fulse and signed relentless pursuer "Brains" Mortigan.
Perhaps the most surprising roster move is the one that, in the end, didn't happen. After last year's championship victory, Krawk Island's Dasher Soley decided to hang up his Yooyuball sling. However a last-minute injury to his rookie replacement, Feldon "Dinksy" Collibridge, left the club with no time to find a replacement who knew all the team's plays. And so, Ol' Dash agreed to come back for one last tournament.
Plot Summary
With the addition of the Moltaran Magmas to the mix, the fifth Altador Cup became the first cup in history to be played with a full complement of 18 teams. The same double round-robin and four-team tier structure was used once again, with the addition of a fifth tier containing the bottom two teams. The result: one of the fiercest Altador Cup tournaments in history, which makes Team Terror Mountain's achievement of a near-perfect Shootout Showdown streak all the more remarkable. Team Kreludor and Team Lost Desert, both well-established powerhouses by now, battled it out in the finals, with the Lost Desert Mummies emerging victorious to claim the championship.
The Big Brawl: The Finals
From an interview with "Dirty" Navers, former Lost Desert defender, we got this:
"The top bracket has been very close this year, with teams jumping from 4th to 1st almost every day. Kreludor are in first at the moment, just as they were last year. It's been a weaker year overall for Kreludor though, but it's important to remember that round robin is not equal to finals. Kreludor is proof of that, with last year's flop during the last four days. Kreludor aren't likely to let the same happen twice though, and that could make them a real contender this year.
Narrowly behind them is the Lost Desert, my old team. It's been a fantastic year for the Desert, but we've begun to drop a little towards the end of the round robin. Hopefully we can bring it back - we were certainly a popular prediction for winners in the pre-cup season.
Darigan Citadel sit in third, which came as a surprise to many. The Citadel has re-affirmed their status as a powerhouse this year, and the Lost Desert will certainly face a challenge against them in the first match of the finals. With Roo Island and Meridell, Darigan Citadel currently have the most Yooyuball wins, more than both Kreludor and the Lost Desert.
Speaking of Roo Island, they are currently in 4th. It'll be a tough match for the former champions against Kreludor, but Roo Island's current standing has shocked many - so anything is possible. The results from the round robin are inconclusive, with one team winning in each round.
Moving into the second bracket, Meridell sit in 5th, after a bitter struggle with Roo Island for 4th. Meridell currently seem far stronger than the other teams in the second bracket, so they should be able to hold on to 5th. However, the Darigan Citadel were in the same position last year, and ended up falling. Meridell should be working hard to make sure history does not repeat itself.
In 6th, Krawk Island are currently on track to be the highest ranking winners to date. However, a drop of even one place will take that title away from them, and the other two teams in the second bracket are very close to them.
Virtupets, now in 7th, will be facing Krawk Island. Virtupets is definately this year's surprise. After last year's impressive, but ultimately futile Shootout Showdown mastery, Virtupets have changed tactics and have managed a lot of Yooyuball wins. Lots of people are underestimating them, but they could well turn into a dark horse of this tournament.
Maraqua sit at the bottom of the second bracket, though during the cup they have been at the top. Against Meridell, it seems an unlikely struggle, but Maraqua has managed such upsets in the past, including during last year's finals.

Staff Tournament
This was the second tournament to feature a staff competition. 16 staff members participated in a knockout tournament, with the final results being:

For the purposes of the staff tournament, Meridell and Maraqua did not compete.
After the plot, users were awarded prizes and trophies. Users who took part in the NC Challenge received exclusive NC items.
In addition, if users did not already possess them, they were awarded the Altador Cup site theme and the Altador Cup Player avatar (if they qualified for it). The Altador Cup avatar that was given out in previous years was confirmed by TNT to be retired during this season and was not available in the prize shop."
