Koi (from Japanese , koi, a type of carp) are a fish-like Neopet introduced on 6 October 2000. They are remarkable inventors, responsible for, among other things, Utility Fish - fish which double as tools. They are friendly, outgoing, and curious Neopets.

They are native to Maraqua. When Old Maraqua was destroyed, they became Limited Edition. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, they are associated with the element of Water.

Battledome

In the Battledome, Koi have no natural resistances, but do have six species abilities:

  • Koi Dive - Attack: none; Defence: 0 - 4 x Water; available from level 2;
  • Koi Splash - Attack: 3 x Water; Defence: none; available from level 10;
  • Koi Flap - Attack: 2 - 3 x Air, 2 - 3 x Water; Defence: none; available from level 20;
  • Koi Bubble - Attack: none; Defence: 2 x Fire; available on Koi Day only;
  • Koi Flight - Attack: none; Defence: 2 x Earth, 2 x Water; available on Koi Day only;
  • Koi Squirt - Attack: 2 x Air, 2 x Water, 1 - 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available on Koi Day only;

There are also fifteen pieces of equipment that can only be used by a Koi.
