The player is currently escaping as Xandra makes her pursuit. As it turns out, the small artefact is able to absorb any spell she dishes out. This could be the key to her defeat, but the player will need to use Hasno's random insults to make Xandra unleash more of her magical rage.

In this step, Hanso is trying to escape from Xandra, but she is pursuing and firing magic at him. Hanso can use the smaller artefact to absorb the blasts, and the player must help him absorb as much of her magic as possible.


There are 5 rounds in this puzzle, and the player will have 10 random insults to choose from. Each insult can provoke a different amount of power from Xandra's magic, as well as increase her anger. It is important to watch out for Xandra's temper (The angrier she gets, the more powerful her attacks are) and Hanso's endurance (the more he struggles, the closer he is to defeat). Most importantly, any insult relating to Faeries or her magic abilities have the most power unleashed.  
Every round Xandra will fire another spell at Hanso, and Hanso must survive five rounds for the user to complete the puzzle. However, if the artefact energy absorption passes 100%, the puzzle is lost.


This task will fail if the artefact takes in too much magic (if the artefact absorbs any single spell exceeds 40% or if the "Artefact energy absorption" gauge exceeds 100%), or succeed when the player survives all 5 rounds, prompting the player to try again.

Also, a spell of 40% or more in one go will overload the artefact, no matter how much capacity remains.

Every round, Hanso can goad Xandra with an insult from a randomly selected list of ten. Certain insults will anger her more and cause her to fire stronger spells, certain insults will anger her less and cause her to fire weaker spells. Insults about her magic are the most offensive. The player cannot use the same insult twice.

In each successful puzzle, the total magic retained by Hanso's artefact is added to the energy absorption gauge at the top of the page. This is a collaborative step: the gauge reflects all of the magic every player has sapped from Xandra. The most energy the player has absorbed in one (completed) puzzle is recorded at the bottom of the page. After the puzzle is completed successfully, the player is urged to complete it again:
