The Faeries had seen young Xandra's magical potential and brought her to their kingdom to study with them. However, she learned that despite all the great power they possess, the faeries chose not to get more involved in the affairs of the Neopians. Their refusal to aid Neopians was an unreasonable injustice to Xandra, and she grew to see the faeries as "winged tyrants", and Faerieland their symbol of power. (As "Nox" had used this wording before, Hanso realized that the Nox he saw casting the spell had been in fact Xandra in disguise.)
