The Techo is a gecko-like Neopet released on June 7, 2000. Techos are agile and are gifted in acrobatics. They are fun-loving Neopets and like to keep others amused with jokes and stunts, and to be the centre of attention at all times. They love to laugh and look on the bright side of life, and prefer users with a wicked sense of humour.

Like their real-world counterparts, they are skilled climbers, although this is because their fingers are like suction cups rather than having setae.

They first appeared in the Neopets Trading Card Game with the release of the Mystery Island expansion, where they are associated with the element of Light.

Battledome

In the Battledome, Techo have no natural resistances, however they can learn six abilities:

• Techo Glare - Attack: 2 x Fire; Defence: none; available from level 2;
• Techo Jab - Attack: 2 x Earth, 1 - 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available from level 15;
• Techo Kick - Attack: 2 - 3 x Light, 1 - 3 x Physical; Defence: none; available from level 20;
• Techo Slide - Attack: 2 x Earth, 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available on Techo Day only;
• Techo Slam - Attack: 1 - 2 x Physical; Defence: unknown; available on Techo Day only;
• Techo Leap - Attack: none; Defence: 3 x Earth; available on Techo Day only.

There are also sixteen pieces of equipment that can only be used by the Techo.

• As of March 2010, over 2.9 million Techo's have been created, placing them 35th in popularity out of 54 Neopets. They are also featured in 135 different items.
• Techo Day takes place on September 13.
• The face of the Techo is carved into Techo Mountain.
• A redesign of the Techo took place on August 7, 2001.
• The Techo Dance screensaver was released on September 14, 2001, while Techo Says and Techo Day were released on September 13, 2004.
