Theme Parks are a discontinued feature on Neopets which was taken down August 15, 2001, as although The Neopets Team did "have big plans for [The Theme Parks]", they "decided to redirect [their] efforts to things like the Trading Card Game and the new world (Meridell)."
In a similar way to the Petpages, the Theme Parks were pages on the Neopets site which users could customise with HTML. Additionally, rides and games could be 'hired' for your theme park. When another player used your park, he or she would pay for the rides he or she used, as well as an entrance fee.
When the game was dissolved, money spent in building the Theme Parks was refunded to the players, and on the 19th August, players who owned the largest Theme Parks were awarded a Trophy from the game which is still are available for viewing on their user lookups.
References to Theme Parks[edit]
Often when TNT discontinue a feature, they attempt to cover it up and make as little reference to it as possible (such as Neopia's original Good vs Evil map system ). Theme Parks, however, are one of the few of such features which are referred to several times:
- TPEG, the Theme Park Entertainers Guild, is a company in the Stock Market referencing ex-Theme Park Entertainers.
- The theme park logo of a revolving Big Wheel, complete with a sign reading "Theme Park" is used for stock companies HAKA and TPP
- The Mr. Chuckles Collectable Card reads "Mr. Chuckles used to work as an entertainer before the Theme Parks left town, now he sits practicing his tricks, waiting for his audience to return."
