Delete Article?[edit]
Before i became head admin, this page was here, and i honestly don't know what to do with it. I think it's better off not being here, but if something can come from this article, then maybe it can stay. --Jacob 19:10, 1 Dec 2006 (CST)
- A page like this (summarising what you are meant to do on Neodex) could help for new users... But it would need a lot of reworking... --Macbeth 15:34, 2 Dec 2006 (CST)
Well, if users need to know what it is they need to do, that would be found (or should be, as it does need to be updated) on the "About" page, and there is a Construction/to do list to show what needs to be done, and a list of goals on the community portal. Perhaps this page could be redirected to the closest idea of what it is we want?
Also, the whole "meta" thing is something i didn't create, and never had a use for it. should all those other pages along with this be taken care of too? If so, certain data from those articles could be placed in their proper selection too. Would like to have all these articles still up before a fate is decided for them all, because rampant editing can be hectic. --Jacob 16:14, 2 Dec 2006 (CST)
- Wikipedia has a series of articles about how Wikipedia works, how it should be used, what syntax is used in certain areas, etc etc etc. Wikipedia's policies, if you will. These articles have the prefix Wikipedia: to them, such as Wikipedia:Assume Good Faith.
- On the NeoDex, there are similar prefixes available, such as NeoDex: (interestingly, these are counted as 'About' pages, not 'Project' pages as Wikipedia's are. Haven't the faintest idea why, but it is irrelevant). I see no reason why we cannot create our own policies under NeoDex: as Wikipedia has done. Likely based on Wikipedia's policies in places, yes. --Macbeth 20:37, 3 Dec 2006 (CST)
*snaps fingers* i just figured out where to place the information on this page, and what to do with it. When a page doesn't have much content, what is it called? a Stub. we redirect the content here onto the stub page, and update it with new information. Sound good? I'm amazed it's taken me this long to come up with this. :o
On what else you said: The NeoDex hopes to one day have it's own collection of how-to pages as wikipedia does, and official NeoDex namespaces. and no, the "about" page you speak of isn't "the one", as there are already many more in the NeoDex namespace. --Jacob 21:57, 3 Dec 2006 (CST)
- By "about", I meant that the pages were called 'about' in the top left hand tab, whereas they are 'project' pages on Wikipedia. I wasn't refering just to Neodex:About... Heh.
- Oh, and I agree, the Stub page is the best place for this lot, methinks. --Macbeth 10:44, 4 Dec 2006 (CST)
