On the other side of Neopia lies the once great city of Altador, ruled by King Altador. It was a peaceful and prosperous land because it was ruled by 12 protectors. One of the 12 was a Dark Faerie. As the other leaders aged, the Faerie believed that she should be the sole ruler of Altador because of her immortality. She started plotting against the other protectors to take over. Jerdana, the one of the 12, banished the Faerie from Altador when she learned of her plot. The faerie was outraged, and she watched Altador from afar, stewing in her hatred and bitterness. She was no longer the great faerie that once helped to rule Altador, she had be come The Darkest Faerie. She returned to Altador, wreaking havoc on the city. Jerdana decided to protect the city with a time bubble. Fyora then used Jerdana's orb to trap The Darkest Faerie in stone, and banished her to the bottom of the maraquan ocean. The Darkest Faerie now lies at the bottom of the maraquan ruins, plotting her revenge silently. Soon, the Darkest Faerie will be released from her stony prison, and she will return, and she, along with her minions, will seek revenge against Altador, and all of Neopia!
The city of Altador was released to all users on March 1, 2006. Two brave Neopets discovered a strange portal in Faerie City (Fyora's Chambers to be exact) which teleports people right into the city.

Altador and its heroes were also featured in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, which was released for the PS2 on November 15, 2005.
Legal Stuff
Originally, when the Darkest Faerie playstation game was to be released to the world, the world on the opposite side was to be called Talador. This can be noted on the some of the original TCG cards. Due to some legal issues, though, this had to be changed. One small anagram later, and Altador was unveiled.
