The Wishing Well is a place in the Neopian Plaza where Neopians can make wishes. By putting in any amount of Neopoints and wishing for an item they want, it's possible to receive that item. No one knows how long the Wishing Well has existed or what powers it, be it a magical spirit or its own magical properties.
Users need to type in the object name correctly for it to work, as the Wishing Well can't guess what it is the users wants. Also, the Well isn't fast in response, as it sleeps for 18 hours a day. As of August 3, 2006, the Wishing Well gives out prizes four times daily. The amount of NP given doesn't effect the outcome of receiving the item wished for. Because of the Wishing Wells erratic nature in choosing what wish it grants, rumours and ideas on how to get what you want spread on the NeoBoards and other means, leaving many users hurt because they believe in them.
