The Slug Monster is a gigantic Slugawoo who wanders the ruins of Old Maraqua threatening any one who trespasses. It appears and shouts "GO AWAY!" whenever the user clicks on an empty area of the Maraquan Ruins map. The Slug Monster is featured in Series 1, Mission 15 of the Defenders of Neopia, and it also made a cameo appearance in the Operation: Petpet Park plot.

One day, a Red Flotsam and a Yellow Acara decided to explore the ruins of Old Maraqua. After awhile, the two stumbled across an old treasure that was left in the ruins. While they were distracted by the treasure, the Slug Monster slowly swam up behind the two friends. When the duo turned around, the Slug Monster began to attack them. After hearing a distress call from the pair, Judge Hog challenged users to defeat the Slug Monster and save the two Neopets.
