The Symol is a Petpet from Meridell that resembles a mole, and has a habit of burrowing into places it shouldn't be. They live in networks of warrens, dug by hand, their mining lit by candles. An entrance to one of these warrens, released on the 20th October 2004, is present in Meridell, near the Turmaculus, with which users can interact.

In Neopets: Petpet Adventures - The Wand of Wishing Symol are common people to talk to and have an entire village, lead by the Mayor, called the Village of Terrasymol where everyone is a Symol except for two miners and a visiting monk.

• As of October 2014, the Symbol is featured in over 40 items. They are also featured in the real-life item, Mini Red Symol Plushie.
• Symol Day has been celebrated on the 23rd of October since 2006, coinciding with Mole Day, an unofficial holiday held for the mole, a unit used in chemistry that describes approximately 6.02 x 10²³ particles in a substance. Previously, a symol-themed day occurred on the 20th October, 2004.
• The Dirt Symol is a special prize from the Symol Hole and cannot be painted.
