Kanrik and his fellow thieves were tasked with finding a mysterious treasure by their leader Galem. When he found an adventurous Usul telling her tales of daring do, he made up a story that "his sister and his village" suffering a strange illness and needing a way to save them. They travelled to the Lost Desert together, where they entered an unknown tomb laden with traps. Hannah was then hit with a strange curse and was left for dead, while Kanrik and a couple of his comrades carried anything they could find; in this case, a coffin. Galem thought to use the creature inside the coffin to steal a treasure from deep under the ice of Terror Mountain. After reaching the Mountain, however, Masila coaxed the Kanrik into opening the coffin and using it to overthrow Galem. At first reluctant in betraying his leader, he went against his better judgement and released a creature from the coffin, the Bringer of Night. After a clash between the creature's army and his guild, Kanrik was banished from the guild. He was then knocked out with a poisonous liquid by Masila, and abandoned on Terror Mountain. | Kanrik and his fellow thieves were tasked with finding a mysterious treasure by their leader Galem. ==Battledome== | ==== Battleground of the Obelisk ====
Kanrik appears occasionally during Obelisk Skirmishes when the Thieves Guild decides to participate.
It is unknown how long these skirmishes will occur, or how long the [Thieves Guild]] will participate.
== Battledome == | |||
Kanrik is the only character to appear in the Battledome in two different forms. During the Hannah and the Ice Caves plot, he was one of the plot's boss characters and was simply called Kanrik. This boss version of Kanrik had an extremely high number of hit points and very powerful weapons. During the War for the Obelisk, Kanrik appeared as a high-level normal opponent under the name Kanrik, Master Thief. This version of Kanrik has a much lower number of hit points and a completely different set of weapons. This second version of Kanrik can still be fought at the Battleground of the Obelisk, where he fights on behalf of the Thieves Guild. | Kanrik is the only character to appear in the Battledome in two different forms. ==Trivia== | == Relationship with Hannah ==
| |||
Since the end of Hannah and the Ice Caves, the status of Hannah and Kanrik's relationship has often been a subject of debate, given several instances that suggest the two are together in some form.
Although it has never been officially confirmed, several instances suggest that the pair are either dating or married:
*During the Curse of Maraqua plot, Garin and Jacques rob the wedding of a Blue Gelert and a brown-haired Usul who appear to be Kanrik and Hannah.
**However, this speculation was confirmed to be false by the official Neopets Magazine in a Q&A published in one of their issues. It since been stated that anything published in the magazine may not necessarily be true or canonical, leaving some to assume the confirmation itself was false.
*A dialogue in Editorial 587 between Hanso and Jazan seems to imply that Kanrik and Hannah are indeed together in some way, comparing them to their relationships with Brynn and Nabile respectively.
*In the Thieves Guild's Neopedia entry published after the events of the Obelisk War, it mentions Hannah in a fashion as if her absence during in the Obelisk War was abnormal.
**In addition, a quote from Kanrik during the Obelisk War seems to imply that he was speaking to Hannah in some form similar to that of a phone conversation, strongly implying that she had checked up on him during the battle:<br>"What do you mean, what am I doing? I'm working. I'm -- one moment, Hannah! -- very busy."
== Neopies == | |||
So far, Kanrik has been nominated for one Neopie in 2011.
=== 2011 === | |||
Neopies | |||
Kanrik was nominated for the Best Cameo Appearance in a Plot, receiving 19% of all votes. He came in 2nd overall, with Captain Rourke in 4th, King Jazan in 3rd, and King Altador in 1st.
== Trivia == | |||
*Although Kanrik's weapon of choice appears to be Kanriks Blade, as he carries is all of the time throughout the plot, he did not use it against the Bringer of Night or the Thieves Guild while fighting in the Battledome. He did however use two of them to defeat Galem. | *Although Kanrik's weapon of choice appears to be Kanriks Blade, as he carries is all of the time throughout the plot, he did not use it against the Bringer of Night or the Thieves Guild while fighting in the Battledome.
