Petpets are pets which you can attached to your [[Neopet]].
A '''Petpetpet''' is pet for a [[Petpet]]. Many of them resemble insects, leading many to believe that these critters are actually parasites of Petpets, much like real-world fleas and ticks. As of May 31, 2006, there are 29 Petpetpets in existence.


Petpetpets are usually rather expensive, and so are often viewed as a status symbol. The Petpetpet article of the Neopets Help section tells us that "Petpetpets are usually found by your Petpet. Very rarely, Petpets are able to catch one of these elusive little bugs in their mouth, and happily bring them back to their owners." If the sole source of the Petpetpets is indeed a random event, that would certainly help explain their rarity, and hence their high prices.
Some Petpets can be purchased (if lucky or rich) but many must be gained via secret [[random events]] or as prizes... you can also paint your Petpet with a [[petpet paintbrush]].


Once obtained, a Petpetpet will attach itself to your Petpet. Simply follow the instructions below.
Your Petpet can gain levels by playing Petpet fights, waking the [[Turmaculus]] or visiting the Petpet [[secret laboratory]], but will re-set to Level 1 if removed at all.

The Petpet originally started as just that, a pet for your pet. It can be named and you can talk to it and a randomly generated response will appear. But that was a long time ago-- there is so much for Petpets now! These days there is a Petpet battledome, [[Petpet paintbrush]]es, Petpet toys, and even [[Petpetpet]]s!
#Place the Petpetpet in your inventory.
#Refresh your inventory until the Petpetpet disappears.


Assuming that the dissapearance was not the fault of the [[Pant Devil]], the Petpetpet should now be attached to the Petpet of your active pet.

This can be achieved by clicking on the Petpet on your Quick Ref page and selecting "Stop Playing with (Petpet's name)." Petpets are pets which you can attached to your Neopet.

Some Petpets can be purchased (if lucky or rich) but many must be gained via secret random events or as prizes... you can also paint your Petpet with a petpet paintbrush.
