The '''Kau''' (a [[wikipedia:homophone|homophone]] for ''cow'') is a [[wikipedia:cow|cow]]-like [[Neopet]]. They roam [[Neopia]] in herds looking for pastures to play in and [http://www.neopets.com/tcg/displayCard.phtml?edid=8&id=45 graze]. Kaus have [[wikipedia:cloven hooves|cloven hooves]] and [[wikipedia:horns|horns]], but don't appear to have [[wikipedia:udders|udders]].


The Kaus' milk has restorative powers. Gentle and peace loving, Kaus love large green pastures on which it can feed itself. In battle, the Kaus focus is more defensive than offensive, but that doesn't mean it can't still pack a punch. Its horns are good enough to teach those foolish enough to annoy it a lesson they won't forget. Kaus are natural mothers, and should anyone choose to search for one to befriend, look no further than a hospital or community orientated project. Also extremely intelligent, Kaus are known for their [[Kauvara|magical potion-making ingenuity]].
Kaus seem to have a penchant for magic - [[Kalandra]] and the [[Kau Fortune Teller]] both use crystal balls to predict the future, and [[Kauvara]] is Neopia's foremost potion maker. The also love to sing - although they only know one note, "Moo!".  


While Kaus can eat many foods, if they eat any ''milk'' item, like ''Kau Kau Farm Milk'', their hit points are fully restored. In the [[Neopets Trading Card Game]], they are associated with the element of earth.
