A Scamander

The Scamander is a salamander-like Desert Petpet that was released on July 10, 2002. They are rather shy but can occasionally be seen scuttling across the desert. They are featured in Scamander Swarm.

In Neopets: Petpet Adventures - The Wand of Wishing scamanders are common enemies.

As of September 2010, the Scamander can come in 9 different colours:

  • Blue - November 4, 2003
  • Clay - September 1, 2005
  • Custard - September 1, 2005
  • Dung - September 1, 2005
  • Faerie - June 3, 2008

Trivia

  • The Scamander won the PPL award on Week 21.
  • In the game Neopets Puzzle Adventure, a Scamander Petpet can be used to move a selected token up to three spaces in a random direction without ending the user's turn.
  • A false user called 'Scamander-in-Chief' has been known to place Scamanders on the Money Tree in large amounts. However, if one does manage to grab one, it scurries away, and thus cannot be caught.
