The Hissi is a snake-like Neopet with wings, likely based on the Aztec serpent god Quetzalcoatl. It was released May 4, 2005. Hissi have acute vision and a keen sense of smell which makes them extremely good at games of hide and seek.
Users had been wanting a snake-like Neopet for a long time, and were happy to see the Hissi created. It is generally considered to be a fairly good pet, with nice artwork for the standard colours. Since most of the Neopets are made to look "cute," there is a large group of players who celebrate every time Neopets releases a non-cuddly pet.
Because they are Limited Edition, not very many are created. A limited number are available for creation every Hissi Day. They can also be created from an existing pet with a Hissi Transmogrification Potion, Morphing Potion or by a species-changing zap from the Lab Ray.

As of July 2010, Hissi are available in 36 different colours:

- As of March 2010, they are the 51st most popular out of the 54 existing Neopets, with just over 266,501 (out of 266,500) Hissi's created. There are currently 85 Hissi related items.
- Hissi Day is on May 4th.
- In the Neopets TCG Hissi are associated with the element of Darkness.
- At first, many users considered Hissies ugly when they debuted. However, this made them more available than other Limited Edition Neopets, and they became popular soon afterwards.
- The Hissi's name is probably derived from the word hiss, the sound a snake makes.
