Examples of Motes |
A Mote is a small being of magical energy taking a specific elemental or environmental form. They tend to be breakable Battledome items with low offensive or defensive power.
General Overview
Motes are items categorized under Brightvale Motes. Motes were originally categorized as Magic Items, but this changed on (need date). Though they are considered items, they are living, a fact all the more true from the Book The Water Mote, which tells the tale of one such Mote.
As of January 2008, there are the following Motes:

|
There is also a Fog Mote that is only featured in a TCG card.
Nova
Novas currently in existence |
Although called a Magic Item, a Nova is considered a Mote due to it's ability to hold all elements of magic within it, and not just a single one as regular Motes (a fact established in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie).
Novas also come in different forms, having a different degree of power in each form. These are...
|
All Novas (except Grey and Christmas, which have shown no magic) can be used to power Battledome Equipment, some of which are credited to be the most amazing in the Battledome. All Novas (except Grey and Christmas) have a wand (which produces 2 of the nova) and a rod (which produces 3 of the nova).
Trivia
- As of December 2006, Motes are featured in 115 different items.
- It is said the Black Cherry Slushie will "...create a taste supernova in your mouth."
- The Scarabnova is a Battledome weapon geared against Novas. It may steal a Nova from an opponent, or create a sonic vibration which can cause all of an opponent's Novas to explode.
- The word mote means a very small particle (such as dust or sand), and may also be used here in reference to emoticons, a relationship noteworthy due to most Motes having a smile.
- A Mote avatar was released on May 23, 2007.
