Weary from your journey, you enter the young Kougra's ship cabin, hoping for a bit of distraction from the rolling sea. Instead of finding a refreshing cup of tea on the table before you, though, you see stacks of glittering, painted tiles. The Kougra invites you sit down and try her game, which she calls 'Kou-jong.' You begin matching the tiles, pair by pair, until the table is clear. As the Kougra starts restacking the tiles for the next round, you realize that you're beginning to feel quite relaxed.

Clear the board by removing all the tiles. The tiles must be removed in pairs, which consist of two matching tiles that are both 'free' (with no tile partially covering it and at least one side unblocked). All of the paired tiles will be exactly identical to one another, except for the Flower and Season tiles. Put your strategic skills to use and clear away the tiles! Good luck!

This may mean a board cannot get solved on the first try if the player makes a "wrong" combination at one point. Kou-Jong only awards points if a board gets cleared. There are three levels, each of which consists out of three boards (gradually getting harder). For every removed tile, one point is awarded. Additionally, by clearing the board quickly, players can get a time bonus.
*Easy: A low number of tiles has to be removed. The player gets one hint. The time bonus has a maximum of 60 points.

Kou-Jong is a game released on (need date) during The Cyodrake's Gaze plot. Kou-Jong is [[Neopets (website)|Neopets]' version of mahjong (hence the name). This game is favoured by Linae.

How to play

Just like with mahjong, a number of tiles are spread across the board and players must clear away all tiles to win. Players may only remove a tile if they can find a free, matching tile (which also gets removed). A tile is free when no other tile is lying (partially) on top of it and if at least one side (right or left) is unblocked.

  • Easy: A low number of tiles has to be removed. The player gets one hint. The time bonus has a maximum of 60 points.
  • Med(ium): A decent number of tiles has to be removed. The player gets two hints. The time bonus has a maximum of 180 points.
  • Hard: A huge number of tiles has to be removed. The player gets three hints. The time bonus has a maximum of 360 points.
