King Kelpbeard is a ruler of New Maraqua. Pronounced as king kelp-beerd. During the Old Maraqua era, the pirates were angered at King Kelpbeard for standing up for Maraqua and against Captain Scarblade. The pirates attacked and Maraqua was destroyed, and its people scattered.
Years later, King Kelpbeard oversaw the rebuilding of a new city in a secret location. King Kelpbeard became old and wiser, and organized armies to protect New Maraqua and prevented surface dwellers to discover the location. He also ordered the people to not interact with those of the surface, believeing it was for the better.
New Maraqua was discovered after Garin escaped from New Maraqua's prison, letting his gossip of the city spread to the ears of Captian Scarblade, who attacked the city.
