Unlike other quests, such as the [[Esophagor]]'s or [[Jhudora]]'s, one cannot use the [[Shop Wizard]] while a quest is in progress. To compensate for this limitation, there is no time limit to when the user can get the item. However, as the shop wizard cannot be used, it can become a nusiance for people who do not or cannot complete the Faerie Quest. Faerie quests first became available on April 12, 2000.  There are currently thirteen types of faeries that give out quests.  Each type of faerie requests a different kind of item and gives out a different reward.  To complete a faerie quest, the user must place the requested item in their [[inventory]] and then press the "Give her the item" button on the [http://www.neopets.com/quests.phtml faerie quest page].  If a user does not want to complete an assigned quest, they may cancel the quest at any time by pressing the "Abandon this quest" button on the faerie quest page.

While [[Taelia]], [[Jhudora]], and [[Illusen]] are Faeries who give quests, their quests aren't considered Faerie Quests, and follow different rules than true Faerie Quests. Besides being a voluntary quest, they have a time limit, the shop wizard can be used, their rewards are part of a fixed set of items and they can only be done every twelve hours or day, depending on the quest.
The last faerie that gives out quests is [[Delina]], the Crafting Faerie.  Delina's quests work differently than those of the other faeries.  When Delina gives out a quest, she will ask the user to bring her two specific crafting materials.  These crafting materials are exclusively sold in the [[NC Mall]], and they cost 75 NC each.  If the user brings Delina the two requested items, she will fashion them into an exclusive [[wearable]] NC item.
