Chronologically, the orb first appears in the back story of the Altador Plot, with it's conception and use explained and fulfilled. It later appears in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, in order to once again fulfill it's duty by saving Neopia from the Darkest Faerie.

The player finds Jerdana's necklace in a secret room concealed in Altador's wall, protected by a spectral Minitheus. With Altador now under her power, the Darkest Faerie imprisoned the twelve in the kingdom's dungeons, and plannned to rewrite history and make herself queen of all. Not allowing this to happen, Jerdana revealed the existence of her magical orb.

When the matter gets out of hand, Queen Fyora sets out to put in an attempt end to the Darkest Faerie's terror. The two battle fiercely, with their powers near an equal match. Aware of Fyora's efforts, Jerdana gives the orb to the Faerie Queen and informs her that only it, combined with her powers, can stop the Darkest Faerie.

Fyora retreats to Faerieland, knowing the Darkest Faerie would pursue her, not satisfied with ruling just Altador. The battle continues atop the clouds of the Queen's castle, until at last, Fyora turns the power of the orb against her, sealing her stone. It was with this, that Jerdana cast a spell over the kingdom of Altador, hiding it from the rest of Neopia in a time warp, erasing the memories of it's citizens including the imprisoned Darkest Faerie.

The celebration was short lived, as the moment the Darkest Faerie turned to stone, she plummeted from the clouds into the seas below, disappearing beneath the murky waters. Despite years of searching for the statue of the faerie, she was never found, and left for forever lost.

Silently hiding among the seaweed of the Maraquan Kingdom, the orb, wrapped around the Darkest Faerie's neck in the fashion of a necklace, remained un seen and un noticed for one thousand years. However, with the events of the Curse of Maraqua disturbing the surrounding sea, the statue presumably fell to a position where the eventually orb fell off, drifting away in the sea.

Return to Jerdana
Once separated from the Darkest Faerie, the orb drifted away in the open sea while the Darkest Faerie once again wreaked havoc on the surface above. She eventually captures Fyora in her own castle.

Later, when Tormund and Roberta find a portal to Altador in Faerieland Castle, they meet Jerdana who takes on the appearance of an Elderly Aisha. She then asked the pair to get her pet Harris out of a tree, promising them an award if they do so. When they succeed in doing so, Jerdana offers them a necklace, claiming it has mysterious powers.

The necklace turns out to Jerdana's Orb, as revealed when she's later captured by the Darkest Faerie. The two are then instructed to find the orb's "twin", which resides with Kelland.

Sealed Again
When Roberta and Tormund succeed in their endeavours in Altador, they return to Faerieland to confront the Darkest Faerie and once again seal her away. The three engage fierce battle, until Tormund and Roberta cast the orb, landing it around the neck of the Darkest Faerie. In that moment, she was instantly imprisoned in stone once more.

With Neopia saved, Fyora emerges from her imprisonment and promptly pair for their fearless deeds. She then places the statue of the Darkest Faerie in her garden, along with the orb, promising to keep a watchful eye on the two.

A number of theories exist surrounding the origins, relations and fate of the orb.

Reasons for disappearance
It was stolen

Just as Hanso had attempted to steal items from the Faries after they were turned to stone, it's very much possible that the Darkest Faerie, or Jerdana's Orb, were stolen during this period.

It was stolen by Balthazar

A Neopedia article released alongside the Faeries' Ruin plot tells the story of how a young Acara named Laela who came to Balthazar after the Faeries turned to stone. Since the Faeries sealed in his bottles had not turned to stone, she believed he could find a way to reverse the curse set upon them. Upon opening a bottle in his lair, however, the Faerie that emerged quickly turned to stone.

She proceeded to guide Balthazar to Faerieland, explaining what happened along the way, to show him what had happened to the Faeries. He then went on to say that he was going to go home to have a Bottled Faerie opening party.

It is very possible that before returning home, he took the Darkest Faerie statue with him, as she is shown to be placed a pedestal in Fyora's garden in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, thus making her "look important". If this did occur, he would likely be un aware that she was not turned to stone due to the curse, but due to Jerdana's Orb.

Possible locations of disappearance
As Faerieland descended from the sky towards the Haunted Woods, it is theoretically possible that the statue, along with the orb, fell anywhere between the two locations. However, unless the map shown onsite incorrect, the statue only had a small proximity of land it could have fallen to. Assuming it wasn't stolen, it would have either fallen somewhere in the Haunted Woods, around Faerieland's current location, or somewhere in the ocean between.

Lost Isle
Lost Isle

Given the direction Roxton & co. left the "mainland" for the Lost Isle, it is possible that the island's location rests somewhere under the path in which Faerieland fell. This theoretically suggests statue and orb could have fallen to this "forbidden" location.

While the exact location which the group left for the isle is unknown, the two prime locations from which the crew in the plot could have left from would match the direction regardless:

*Krawk Island<br>The location shown in the plot comic looks vaguely similar to the port seen in Warf Wharf on Krawk Island. Given the fact that Warf Wharf is shown to face South-West on World Map, and the fact the crew is shown to head off to right in comic strip (Which would be North-West), would suggest that the Lost Isle is somewhere that direction.

*Brightvale<br>Considering that the majority of the group involved in the plot were later revealed to be members of Seekers, and the fact that The Seekers reside in Brightvale, suggests that the group could have possibly left from a port near the coast revealed to exist there. If you assume that the map onsite is incorrect, and the one shown in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie is correct (Which has been confirmed to be so), then when the group is seen sailing right in the comic strip, they would actually be sailing South-West. This theoretically also passes under the path in which Faerieland fell.

Jerdanas Orb was twice used against the Darkest Faerie.

Jerdana's Orb is the symbol of Jerdana and a powerful magical artefact. It was used by Fyora to imprison the Darkest Faerie after her failed conquest of Altador and again after her return in the events of Neopets: The Darkest Faerie. It later appears in the Altador Plot as Jerdana's constellation. Jerdana used another magical necklace as the power source of the spell that reveals the clues. This second necklace is ultimately used to undo the spell that has hidden all the histories.

Plot summary[edit]

Main article: Neopets: The Darkest Faerie

The Orb appeared at the beginning of the game, where it fell off the neck of the Darkest Faerie statue and allowed her to escape. It was later given to Roberta and Tormund in the forth act, when they rescue Jerdana in Altador. It was then used to re-imprison the Darkest Faerie in Faerieland, when Roberta threw it at her.

Altador Plot[edit]

The Orb is the symbol of Jerdana.
Main article: Altador Plot

The player finds Jerdana's necklace in a secret room concealed in Altador's wall, protected by a spectral Minitheus. The ghost says the player is unworthy of possessing the necklace until they have saved the city from flooding at the Altador Water Distribution Plant. The necklace provides the clue for Jerdana's constellation. The lights in the Hall of Heroes ceiling turn off at this point: Finneus reasons that when the neckalce was disturbed the spell that created the hints around the city was undone, and this turned off the lights.

The player can place the necklace on any of the statues in the Hall, but it does nothing until they have cast the spell that animates the fire in the Darkest Faerie's hands. After the fire has become real, placing the necklace on her statue will cause it to explode, and the history obscuring spell is broken.
