Faerie quests first became available on April 12, 2000.  There are currently thirteen types of faeries that give out quests.  Each type of faerie requests a different kind of item and gives out a different reward.  To complete a faerie quest, the user must place the requested item in their [[inventory]] and then press the "Give her the item" button on the [http://www.neopets.com/quests.phtml faerie quest page].  If a user does not want to complete an assigned quest, they may cancel the quest at any time by pressing the "Abandon this quest" button on the faerie quest page.

The most common faerie quests are those given out by the following six elemental faeries:
Before the events of [[The Faeries' Ruin]], certain elemental faeries (dubbed [[Uber Faeries]]), the [[Faerie Queen]], the [[Fountain Faerie]] and the [[Space Faerie]] would sometimes give quests out to players as random events. They asked for certain items to be retrieved without the use of the Shop Wizard, and gave certain rewards (see [[Faerie Quest#Quest types|below]] to a random one of the user's pets. The reason they needed these items was unclear.


During the events of the plot, however, [[Faerieland]] fell, and when Faerie Quests were relaunched on 7 February, Fyora explained that the faeries needed the items to prepare magical spells to restore the city. Between 7 February and 24 February, these quests were given out daily on demand. The faeries began to give stat rewards only to the user's active pet at this time.

==Quest types==
There are six other faeries that give out quests; however, they appear more rarely then the six elemental faeries:

There are five other faeries who can give out Faerie Quests. The [[Crafting Faerie]] was introduced on 7 February 2011. She is a Dark Faerie called Delina. The [[Battle Faerie]] had been introduced before the update, but only started giving out quests on 7 February.  
===Crafting Faerie Quests===
The last faerie that gives out quests is [[Delina]], the Crafting Faerie. Delina's quests work differently than those of the other faeries.  When Delina gives out a quest, she will ask the user to bring her two specific crafting materials. These crafting materials are exclusively sold in the [[NC Mall]], and they cost 75 NC each.  If the user brings Delina the two requested items, she will fashion them into an exclusive [[wearable]] NC item.


Three other faeries also ask for items on rarer occasions. They are:

==Trivia==
*When they were first introduced, faerie quest used the same on-demand system as other quests.  On October 2, 2000, this system changed over to the random event system that is still in place today.
*According to the Shop Wizard, he can not help users with faerie quests because he is bound by "ancient laws of magic".
