With the exception of action games, which all require Macromedia [[Flash]] or [[Shockwave]] to play, each of these categories also has some HTML based games which can be played on machines that may be unable to play more processor-intensive games. Many of the newer games, sadly, are made in Flash or Shockwave and these require a one-time download to play. These games also tend to take a long time to download, particularly on computers with a dial-up modem, and tend to run slowly on older computers, often leading to a less enjoyable experience for people on older computers. On the other hand, computers with broadband and modern processor chips experience the benefit of better graphics, as well as embedded sound in the game.
