Before the Slugawoo became the Slugawoo, it was known as a Petpet named '''Scruffy'''. It was forced to flee [[Maraqua]], it's original home, when it was destroyed. With the shop selling them gone, they were temporarily unbuyable until August 29, 2001, when [[the Rock Pool]] opened on [[Mystery Island]]. The Rock Pool never truly sold Scruffies though, as the [[List of Petpet redesigns|change]] took place just before that shop opened.

It is not impossible to still own a Scruffy. Any Petpet who was attached to a [[Neopet]] at the time of the change will stay the same until it is removed. This means only a very few people still have a Scruffy.

The Slugawoo is a species of slug-like Petpet. It's a rather slow Petpet, but it will never run away.

Scruffy[edit]

During the time of Old Maraqua, there was a species of Petpet known as the Scruffy. Shortly after the destruction of Maraqua, all of these Scruffy Petpets were converted into Slugawoos. Petpets that were attached to a Neopet during this conversion were not effected by the change. This means that there are still a few users that have a Scruffy attached to one of their Neopets. Whenever one of these remaining Scruffy Petpets is removed from its Neopet, it is immediately converted into a Slugawoo.
