Please realize that we want the Neodex to contain only facts and '''not''' opinions. The difference between facts and opinions is that facts can be supported with evidence, while opinions cannot. For example, it is a fact that the plural of ''Bruce'' is ''Bruces''. My evidence is that the official Neopets pronunciation page clearly states that plural of ''Bruce'' is ''Bruces''. (Click [http://www.neopets.com/pronounce.phtml here] to see). You think that the plural of ''Bruce'' is ''Bruce''. However, because you can not provide any evidence to support this idea, it is an opinion and thus does not belong in the Neodex. Please respond to this message and confirm that you understand what I am saying. -- [[user:emeraldosprey|EmeraldOsprey]] | Please realize that we want the Neodex to contain only facts and '''not''' opinions. I have blocked you from editing, following up on Demon's block above, and thought I would justify my reasons here. You have failed to listen to repeated advice from sysops on your edits, begun edit wars on certain pages, and generally made life difficult for the rest of the editors here - all this I could accept, if I could believe you were earnestly trying to improve the Neodex as you did so. I am afraid I no longer believe that. --[[User:Macbeth|Macbeth]] 01:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC) | |||

Welcome to the Neodex![edit]
Hi! I've noticed that you have made several edits to the Neodex in the last few days. From your edits, it seems like you are new to the Neodex and to wikis in general. As such, I wanted to give you a few tips:
1. Talk about whether or not we can find certain images should go on the "discussion" page and not on the main article. To get to the discussion page for an article, just click on the "discussion" tab that is right next to the "page" tab.
2. Since we want the Neodex to sound like a real encyclopedia, you should write in the third person perspective. This means that you should generally not use sentences that contain the pronouns "I", "we", or "us".
3. You can use the "Show preview" button that is located to the right of the "Save page" button to see what your edits will look like before you save them. This can allow you to catch any mistakes you made and correct them before you save a page.
For more tips and rules, see the help page. We look forward to you contributions.
- P.S.: I want to edit the page for the Neopet species of the Buzz, but it's private!!!!!!! -- This comment was left unsigned by 86.45.101.100 (talk | contribs)
- Welcome to Neodex. I need to add a few more comments regarding your edits.
- 1. Please check the article before saving it. This may look similar to Emeraldosprey's third point, but please make sure the facts are correct. Several changes that you made does not seem to tally with the information TNT provides.
- 2. This is an encyclopaedia, thus when creating or editing an article, please keep it encyclopaedic, as mentioned by Emeraldosprey's second point. That also means no comments on the main article. Keep all comments/discussions on the discussion page, thank you.
- And finally, Neodex is a public encyclopaedia, thus there is no such thing as a private edit.
PLEASE don't make multiple edits to an article within a short time span. It makes things very difficutl for other editors. And err. Welcome to Neodex.--Demon 21:23, 1 March 2009 (UTC) Oh, and please also note you don't have to edit articles section by section. Instead you can click the "edit" link at the top of the page to edit the whole article.--Demon 21:33, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Buzz & Hey[edit]
Hey there. Re your comment about the Buzz article - it is currently protected due to a spate of vandalism. If you have any changes you'd like to make, though, you can mention them on the article's talk page :).
Some of our other editors have already flagged this up, but you should make sure your edits match the tone of voice we need from an encyclopaedia. The Neodex is a work of reference, like an encyclopaedia that you'd get out of a library.
Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. You really should think about signing up for an account here, though. You get your own user name, it's free, and it makes your contributions a bit more personal. Your IP address, which is how your edits are currently attributed, is liable to change, you see. A user name is static. --Macbeth 20:54, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and a user name is also unique to an editor, so you wouldn't get someone else using it, as you may when you edit anonymously. --Macbeth 20:55, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Block[edit]
For your information, you have been blocked for 2 days for repeated inserting of false information. This includes
- this and that edit on the Uni article
- repeated adding of pronunciation not complying with the official pronunciation page, such as this on the Acara article.
- This edit on the Malevolent Sentient Poogle Plushie article.
No additional penalties will be applied for any "inserting of false information" that may yet be discovered and has taken place in the past (ie before the time stamp of this note). This does, however, not necessarily apply for any other violation that may yet be discovered and took place in the past.
After your blocking has expired, you may file a protest on my talk page or the talk page of any other admin.--Demon 15:32, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Incorrect edits[edit]
From my point of view, you are genuine wanted to help in the development of Neodex. But unfortunately some of your information are simply incorrect (eg. Cybunny article). Worst, you make the same mistakes again after we corrected it (eg. Aisha article). Please check through your edits before saving, otherwise I'll have to implement another cool down period for you. Also, please read our edit summaries on the reason why we changed some of your edits. --SwordFire ( talk | contrib ) 18:13, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the hang of things here, but please listen to what we're saying ;¬). --Macbeth 23:26, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Please realize that we want the Neodex to contain only facts and not opinions. The difference between facts and opinions is that facts can be supported with evidence, while opinions cannot. For example, it is a fact that the plural of Bruce is Bruces. My evidence is that the official Neopets pronunciation page clearly states that plural of Bruce is Bruces. (Click here to see). You think that the plural of Bruce is Bruce. However, because you can not provide any evidence to support this idea, it is an opinion and thus does not belong in the Neodex. Please respond to this message and confirm that you understand what I am saying. -- EmeraldOsprey
- The same applies for your edits on the article Malevolent Sentient Poogle Plushie. It may look absurd, but the word "Poogle" ia actually not at the end of the name, as can be seen on the TCG cards [1], [2].--Demon 12:24, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Acara[edit]
Re your edits to Acara, I wanted to let you know why I undid one of your changes - Image:Acara darkblue.gif was used as we actually have an image with that name - we don't have a picture of a yellow acara like that ;) --Macbeth 17:11, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Second Block[edit]
I have blocked you from editing, following up on Demon's block above, and thought I would justify my reasons here. You have failed to listen to repeated advice from sysops on your edits, begun edit wars on certain pages, and generally made life difficult for the rest of the editors here - all this I could accept, if I could believe you were earnestly trying to improve the Neodex as you did so. I am afraid I no longer believe that. --Macbeth 01:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
