Gadgadsbogen - meaning good good day in the native language - is the Mystery Island festival of fruit held annually throughout March, the Month of Running. It celebrates the phenomenon in which new Tropical Food sprout from the ground, while the previous year's tropical food becomes retired.

Overview[edit]

Each year, Llugh travels across Mystery Island, eating tropical fruit and spreading the seeds within them. The seeds bear fruit and vegetables which are new to the island, replace the older fruits and vegetables which have died out.

To celebrate Gadgadsbogen, the island natives hold a big tiki-style party. The party is marked by parades and street performers, and the highlight is a great Limbo competition. While the stress level is always high due to rising crime rate and tension between island natives and tourists, troubles are forgotten during the celebration. After the festivities, the new fruits are named in a ceremony by Cinto Pango, an elder of the Pango tribe.

Each year a Grand Bogen is appointed by the Island elders to preside over the festival and since 2003, this has been Rufus. The Grand Bogen wears the Bogen headpiece and a special lei to distinguish them as the festival's host, performing duties that include greeting the guests and helping to clear up any mess made, which are dictated by Island folklore.

During Gadgadsbogen, users have been known to rush the Tropical Food Shop for the new tropical food and other user shops in hopes of buying the last of the fruits which become retired, allowing for a profit in the future. Gadgadsbogen also serves as a general celebration of all things related to Mystery Island, often with Neopets released in new Island colours.
