The Tonu is a rhinoceros-like Neopet native to Tyrannia, released on 21 February 2002. Tonu have a mane like a lion's and very tough skin. They love to charge around and cause havoc, knocking over whatever gets in their way.
Tonu are Limited Edition. A small number are made available to create every day when the Giant Omelette runs out of omelette, making them the only Limited Edition Neopet made available so often.
Tonu are allergic to Neggs and will break out in Neezles if they eat any. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, Tonu are associated with the element of fire.
Battledome
In the Battledome, Tonus receive 15% less Physical damage. They have three species abilities:
- Tonu Charge - Attack: 2 x Earth, 2 x Darkness; Defence: none; available from level 5;
- Tonu Dodge - Attack: none; Defence: 0 - 3 x Physical; available from level 11;
- Tonu Death Stomp - Attack: 2 x Earth, 1 - 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available from level 21;
There are also nine pieces of equipment that can only be used by a Tonu.
