Meercas are energetic and mischievous Neopets released on 7 February 2001. They rarely get caught for their frequent pranks, thanks to their small size and tremendous speed.

Meercas have small bodies with round, mouse-like ears. Their body is connected to a long, flat tail reminiscent of a beaver's. Meercas often support themselves on their tail, which gives them extra height.

Mischievous and fun-loving, Meercas have been known to steal toys from other pets. Some Meercas have gone on to commit more large scale thefts - Heermeedjet and Merouladen have stolen King Coltzan III's crown and robbed the Qasalan Treasury.

When painted Maraquan, Meercas resemble a sea urchin. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, Meercas are associated with the element of air.

Battledome

In the Battledome, Meercas have no natural resistances, but do have six species abilities:

• Meerca Bounce - Attack: none; Defence: 2 x Air; available from level 5;
• Meerca Zoom - Attack: 2 x Air, 2 x Light; Defence: none; available from level 15;
• Meerca Squeel - Attack: 2 - 3 x Air, 2 - 3 x Light; Defence: none; available from level 15;
• Meerca Richochet - Attack: 2 x Air, 2 x Earth, 1 - 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available on Meerca Day only;
• Meerca Tail Guard - Attack: none; Defence: 1 - 5 x Earth, 1 - 5 x Physical; available on Meerca Day only;
• Meerca Mind Trance - Attack: 2 x Darkness, 2 x Light; Defence: none; available from level 20 on Meerca Day only.

There are also seventeen pieces of equipment that can only be used by Meercas.
