Shangles is a lowly deckhand onboard the pirate ship, the [[Pernicious Pinchit]]. [[Captain Arf]] tasks Shangles with swabbing the decks, and the poor [[Pinixy]] doesn't get a break until they are sparkling. As a result, his mops are often worn out. He was once good friends with [[Spivey]], but the battle between Captain Arf and [[Admiral Gully]] has meant that the two rarely see each other.
