The NeoDex is an encyclopaedia about Neopets - it seeks to collate information dealing with the Neopets site and its real-world projects, and provide a friendly environment for editors to contribute.

It should be pointed out, however, that there are some things the NeoDex is not:

The NeoDex is not a blog

The NeoDex is not a host for personal web pages - the user namespace is to help co-ordination between members, but is not meant for social networking. Equally, the Neodex is not meant to host personal photos or files that do not contribute to the encyclopaedia.

If you are looking for a place to host a blog, try Blogger, not the NeoDex.

The NeoDex is not an items database

While Neopets items are Neopets-related information, neither the NeoDex or the wiki format is not meant to provide comprehensive coverage of all the items on the site. The only exceptions to this rule are:

If you're looking for a comprehensive items database, try NeoItems.net here, not the NeoDex.

The NeoDex is not a democracy

The NeoDex follows consensus, but this consensus is seen through action rather than voting.

If you're looking for a democracy, try Switzerland, not the NeoDex.

The NeoDex is not a bureaucracy

Rules are best followed in their spirit, not their letter, and effort spent discussing the rules is effort that is not put into improving the encyclopaedia. Don't let the rules get in the way of being bold.

If you're looking for a bureaucracy, try the European Commission, not the NeoDex. 8-)
