The time of day effects many different asspects of Neopets.
The prizes of some "games" as well as puzzles and secrets as part of stories are time of day dependent.
One secret required you to view a page within the space station at an exact time and then click the link... later at another exact time you had to look at the HTML source and a clue was hidden there.
Neopets makers have too much time on their hands.
