Altador Cup 2007 was a gaming plot which began on June 1, 2006, and was the second installation of the Altador Cup.

Plot summary
5th June
Once again the time has come for that most beloved of Neopian sporting activities - the Altador Cup! When we last checked in with the world's greatest Yooyuballers, the Haunted Woods had just pulled off a thrilling victory over the Darigan Citadel. Instead of resting on their laurels, however, both teams have made key roster changes, which they feel will vault them into being odds-on favourites to take home the Cup. The Citadel has elected to bench last year's goalie Mungo Lifler and start brilliant new netminder Reshar Collifey, while the Haunted Woods has plugged in bone-crunching defender Autry Fulse. Could either of these moves provide the edge that these teams need to reach the top, or could such adjustments have the opposite effect and backfire in their faces?

Those aren't the only changes you'll notice out on the playing field, though. In addition to a few free-agent signings and the arrival of some promising rookies, an entirely new team has come down from the mountains of Shenkuu to participate in the tournament. The sport itself has even undergone a bit of an alteration, with three new kinds of Yooyuball (Normal, Clockwork, and Darigan) coming into play for the very first time.

Plot participation
Unlike regular plots where the plot was written by The Neopets Team, the plot was directed by the collective users on Neopets, and how well they collectively played together in each other their selected teams. Users could select their team on their own, but also had the option to be placed on a team via a quiz which tested what their personality was like. Unlike the previous year, users could not reselect teams once gaming began. Users could sign up between June 1 - 4, and matches began on the 5th. The score users contributed was calculated by their win/loss/tie record, the number of goals scored each game, and a average based on team membership (so a team with more users participating wouldn't have an advantage over a team with fewer players).

It a common misconception having a loss counted for a users score would give negative points towards a user's score, when in truth every completed game raised the users score higher. Some users who wanted a certain team to win took advantage of the system as well, by signing up for an opposing team and purposefully lose in order to try and lower the chance of them winning.

Besides playing Yooyuball, users also had the option of playing Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise to contribute to their score. While these games did give the user points, the most points to be given were those for playing Yooyuball.

Tournament play was double round robin, which meant teams played every other team twice. During the round robin phase, each team was given a chance to prove itself by scoring the most overall. At the conclusion of the double round robin phase, the four best-performing teams will advance to the final matches that will determine who will reign supreme in this year's Altador Cup. The top two teams will meet in a final showdown for first place, and the teams that ranked third and fourth in the double round robin phase will battle for third place.

Games
There were three games to play. Yooyuball, the main event, awarded the most points, and the other two games awarded less points.

Yooyuball
There are several types of Yooyus:
Normal: The most common form, this Yooyu behaves as you might expect, without any surprises.

Fire: Given the excessive heat and flames it puts out, this Yooyu must be transferred very quickly between teammates, which is what this fastest of the Yooyus would prefer, anyway.

Snow: This kind of Yooyu makes for a very slow ball, and its piercing cold slows the muscles of those playing with it.

Faerie: This Yooyu floats high and bends through the air, leaving players to wonder when it will drop down low enough for them to capture and pass it.

Mutant: This Yooyu is extremely unpredictable, moving in a variety of patterns reminiscent of the Fire, Snow, and Faerie Yooyus.

Darigan: This misbehaving Yooyu flies off at unexpected angles. Be very careful with it when you are in front of your own goal.

Clockwork: A wind-up robotic Yooyu toy that will explode within seconds if it isn't immediately put into a goal.
------------------------
Before each game of Yooyuball begins, choose the formation you want your players to stand in. Then, select which direction you'd like to move the ball down the field.

Using your mouse, point at the player you'd like to move around. This will select the player. Guide your selected player around the field using your mouse. When your player has possession of the ball, click the left mouse button to shoot.

If you want to unselect your player, press the spacebar or the 'S' key.

When none of your players are selected, you can click anywhere on the field to move the closest player to the position you clicked on.

If you'd like to toggle between players, press the left and right arrow keys (or the 'A' and 'D' keys). To activate a player when toggling between them, press the spacebar.

Press the Shift key to move your players back to their starting positions.

Should a keeper hold onto the Yooyu for any longer than five seconds, the Yooyu will escape the keeper's hands and throw itself out onto the field for any team's player to intercept.

Slushie Slinger
Slushie Slinger is an game users could play for lower points besides playing Yooyuball. Users play the role of a Red Tuskaninny waitress at the Slushie Concession Stand, and must serve impatient fans (Red Nimmo, Purple Tonu, Yellow Ogrin, etc.) their slushies while Yooyuball games play. Depending on what team the user joined, the Slushie Concession Stand would be the team's official slushie stand.

Make Some Noise
Make Some Noise is an game users could play for lower points besides playing Yooyuball. Assuming the role of the Techo Fanatic, users must cheer as loud as they can by tapping two randomly chosen keys together, raising the sound meter, for as long as they can in 30 seconds, then pressing spacebar before the time runs out. Depending on what team the user joined, the Techo Fanatic would be seen wearing that teams shirt, and cheering for them.
