The symbols appeared on the player's Mysterious Tablet and the fragments they had to find in the [[Temple of 1,000 Tombs]]. When translating them, by clicking the symbols in order in the plot comic, the player discovered the first prophecy. The second and third prophecies would come from translating the Sakhmetian characters into Qasalan characters.

The hieroglyphs were used to label doors in the Temple of 1,000 Tombs, the twelve scrolls in its libraries, and one could be found on the Statue of Nuria. The symbol on the statue told the player which of the scrolls they needed to use in order to hoodwink the guards to the [[Scroll Repository]]. The Repository itself used the hieroglyphs as part of their [[wikipedia:Library catalog|card catalogue]] system.

Key rings for each hieroglyph were released as plot prizes.
