Living amongst the stars, the Space Faerie protects Neopia from threats from the depths of space, such as Dr. Frank Sloth. She very rarely visits the surface of Neopia, and will only do so in the case of an utmost emergency.

Among other acts of courage and compassion, she saved the Grundos from Dr. Sloth, and they subsequently became a regular species of Neopet with their own Adopt-a-Grundo section of the Virtupets Space Station. She is also featured as the mascot of Neopets Premium.

She is featured in a very rare Faerie Quest, which raises the level of one of the user's Neopets by 4 levels.

The Space Faerie was instrumental to the plot. It began when she received a mysterious, coded message from the depths of space, and an overwhelming sense of evil. She made a rallying call to the population to be prepared, and her prophecy quickly came true as the massive bulk of the Space Station briefly eclipsed the sun.

After the message was decoded by the Island Mystic using many newly-released Codestones, revealing Dr. Sloth's true plan to mutate all the population of Neopia to enslave the planet, the Space Faerie gathered Neopians to scour the lands to find supplies to ready a space fleet at the Launch Pad.

The Space Faerie made a personal assault on the Space Station, seeking to liberate the Grundos that had been captured for Sloth's experiments. He had anticipated this and manage to capture her. Her struggles weakened her, and she was only barely able to send a broadcast to Neopia, requesting that the population adopt as many Grundos as possible. Doing so helped her regain her power.

Users managed to adopted the 20,000 needed Grundos just in time: as Dr Sloth fired his orbital mutation ray gun down to the planet, the Space Faerie blasted her way out of imprisonment and intercepted the mutagenic beam. To Sloth's disbelief, the faerie managed to divert the beam back into the weapon, which overloaded. The resulting explosion demolished the weapon, and Dr. Sloth went missing until the Lost Desert Plot.

The Space Faerie returned to the stars, and left the abandoned Space Station in orbit for Neopians to repopulate.

pastFeatured
The Gelert is a dog-like creature that was added to Neopets on January 25, 2000 as the Polypup. On July 19th, 2000 the Polypup's name changed to Gelert and its look was updated, but that would not be the last time the Gelert changed its look.

On November 2nd, 2001 TNT added the Pick-The-Gelert Competition which featured 5 new designs for members to pick from. Both Gelerts #5 and #2 officially won (although the joke design, #3, actually had the most votes) so the two designs were combined and the final version (released on 29th November 2001) has not changed since.

About the Gelert
The Gelert is a distant cousin to the Lupe and are the embodiment of all that is fun and goofy.

They are joyous creatures, with a love of anyone and everything. If you are suffering from a long day at work, there is nothing better than coming home to a Gelert, who will do anything possible to make your day a happier day.

Legend and myth have been written about the brave deeds of Gelerts and such stories have made Gelerts a household name. If anything, their love of children make them excellent baby sitters. However, don't let their fun-loving nature fool you; like their Lupe cousins they're fiercely protective of their friends and family.

The Grave of the Greyhound
The Gelert is said to be based on the dog in the poem 'The Grave of the Greyhound' or 'Beth Gelert', where a greyhound, called Gelert, was slain by his master when he discovered the dog, covered in blood, at his infant's cradle. It later turned out that the blood was not of the master's son but that of a wolf who had tried to kill the boy, and that Gelert had really been protecting his master's heir.

A retelling of the story can be found here - many variations of it exist around the world. There is a page on the Neopets site itself dedicated to the story.

Colours
As of March 2009, the Gelert can come in 44 different colours:

Biscuit is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets. In general, pets painted Biscuit look like a giant chocolate chip cookie. The Biscuit colour was first introduced on February 8, 2006, as part of a Biscuit Random Theme day. Users can change the colour of their Neopets to Biscuit by using a Biscuit Paint Brush item at the Rainbow Pool. In addition, the Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Neopet to Biscuit. Users also have the choice of changing their Neopets's colour to Biscuit when they complete a Fountain Faerie Quest.

Neopets
As of January 2010, the following 10 Neopets are available in the Biscuit colour:

A Plushie is a soft toy (hence "Plush"-ie) within Neopets. Plushies and the theme of Plushie is popular in Neopets, ranging from various Plushie Neopets, Petpets, and items.

Overview
Due to the large number and variety of plushie items within Neopets (over 1500 items as of April 2009) and the general opinion that they are cute, plushies are one of the more popular items collected in Item Galleries.

Plushie colored pets are quite popular, as well, but are also very valued as the Plushie Paint Brush is one of the most expensive brushes in the game. The number of Plushie pets is somewhat limited because the Lab Ray will not paint pets Plushie colored which means that the only way for a user to obtain a Plushie pet is to buy a paint brush or morphing potion; or to use the prize from a Fountain Faerie Quest. Conversely, the Plushie Petpet Paint Brush is the least expensive Petpet paint brush, making Plushie Petpets quite easy to get.

Perhaps because of the popularity of plushies in Neopia, TNT has been producing plushie merchandise that is available in stores around the world. Some users have collected hundreds of the real plushie items both because they like them and for the Rare Item Codes that can be redeemed on the site and give out special Neopets items.

Plushie Tycoon
Plushie Tycoon

Note: In Plushie Tycoon (PT) a user has a store and earns Neopoints when selling plushies but they only exist within PT game frame. The store is not the same as their own shop and the NP is never credited to their account.

Plushie Tycoon is one of the more complicated games on the site and requires more time to play than most. The game restarts every month, starting within the first week of the month and ending at midnight NST on the last day of the month. If a player wishes to attain one of the trophies, they will need to spend 1-3 hours every day for run of the game (more time towards the end) making sure that their factory is producing plushies, shipping them to their plushie store and are being sold. The prizes vary depending on your final NP on hand and how many plushies you sold. This game can be quite lucrative to the user willing to spend time on it as the top prize yields a gold trophy and 200,000 NP. The top seventeen PT players in Neopia for the month also get on the high scores table and earn 250-750 NP per day for the next month.

The first time a player successfully completes the game with a cash on hand balance higher than they started with (50,000 NP) they receive the Plushie Tycoon Avatar.

Colour
:Main Article: Plushie (colour)

Plushie is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. Plushie pets are designed to resemble plushies, complete with stiching, patchwork, and button eyes. The Plushie colour for Neopets was released on November 26, 2002, and the Plushie colour for Petpets was released on December 23, 2002.

Items
Plushies
There are many plushies users can buy and they rage from very common to very rare. While classified by [TNT] as Plushies, they are essentially a toy. In fact, they were originally sold in the Toy Shop in Neopia Central. Because of this, plushies can be played with by pets and will increase the pet's mood. There are a few items that are plushies but are called toys. This includes most of the Poogle Plushies and a few Elephante plushies.

Most can be purchased from the Plushie Palace in the Neopian Plaza. Some are only available as prizes in Plots or from the annual Advent Calendar or other site events. Others are found while playing games around the site including Underwater Fishing and a variety of games in the Deserted Fairgrounds. Some are widely considered to be quite visually pleasing while others are broken, like the very common Headless Von Roo Plushie.

Paint Brush Plushies regularly cause confusion, especially with inexperienced players. Many ill-intentioned users will claim that these plushies work as Paint Brushes when, in fact, they are merely a toy and do not work to change a pet's colour. These users often scam the unaware out of thousands of Neopoints.

Morphing Potions
Morphing Potions are available in many colors including Plushie. There are 23 Plushie Morphing Potions as of April 2009. The bottle for each species is unique and looks like a bottle-shaped representation of that plushie pet. If a user chooses to use this item on their pet (note: use on not feed to), their pet will be transformed into that the exact pet in the potion's name. For example, using a Plushie Grundo Morphing Potion on any pet will turn it into a Plushie Grundo.

Magical Plushies
A different kind of plushie that is also sold in the Plushie Palace. Any pet-shaped plushie prefaced with the word Magical is a special item that acts like a Morphing Potion and will actually change a user's pet when played with. For example, a Magical Green Kiko Plushie will turn a users pet into a Green Kiko. The item is only good for one use and, after, the magic will be used up and the item will become a simple Green Kiko Plushie. These items are extremely rare and are only available for a select collection of around 27 pet species and 13 colours as of April 2009. In all, there are only 76 different Magical Plushies. The magical plushies look identical to the non-magical plushie of the same type.

As with plushies, the Magical Poogle and Elephante plushies are called toys. Their exact names are:
*Magical Green Elephante Toy
*Magical Purple Poogle Toy
*Magical Yellow Poogle Toy

Other Items
There are many other items in Neopia that are plushie themed, including Books, Trading Cards, Battledome Items, Furniture, Food, and a single Stamp.

Trivia
*A Neopets Plushie Giveaway began on December 21, 2007. The plushies were new real life Limited Edition plushies being released in stores 2008. Each week users could enter to win a new Neopet and hopefully the grand prize: all the plushies. Sweepstakes ended January 31, 2008.
*Because Lupes are known to hate Chias, if a user gives a Chia Plushie to a Lupe to play with, the Lupe will destroy it with the message Pet name takes the Chia Doll in their mouth and rips it with glee! and the item will become a Broken Chia Plushie.
*A real TCG card depicting a specific Neopet plushie (Shoyru Plushie, Chomby Plushie, Mynci Plushie, etc.) of any species will give each card in the player's deck that is of the same species +1 to all stats.
*There are eleven avatars that either require a plushie item to get or feature a plushie pet.
**Bori - Grumpy - Features a Plushie Bori and requires that a user view the pet lookup of a Plushie Bori when it has 0 HP.
**Cybunny Plush - To get this avatar, a user must have a plushie item in their inventory and view the pet lookup of a Plushie Cybunny that is over 30 days old.
**Koi - Spotted Plushie - This avatar is attained when a user has any Koi Plushie in their inventory and views the pet lookup of any painted (non-basic-colored) Koi.
**MSPP - This avatar requires that a user view their inventory with the item Malevolent Sentient Poogle Plushie (TCG) in it. This item is extremely rare and is valued, as of April 2009, at over 300 million NP.
**Plushie! - This avatar is obtained when a user donates any item with plushie in the item name to the Money Tree. It features a Plushie Tonu.
**Plushie Eyrie - To get this avatar, a user must post the word Squawk on an existing topic on any NeoBoard.
**Plushie Nova - This avatar is retired. It was only available May 31st, 2004 and, for Australian players, on September 29th, 2005 as a McDonald's Daily Giveaway Prize.
**Plushie Tycoon - Completing a game of Plushie Tycoon with over 50,000 NP in your game funds gets a user this avatar.
**Scorchio - Scordrax - Users must have a basic-colored Scorchio Plushie in their inventory and view a Neopets TCG Album with the Scordrax the Furious (TCG) in it to get this avatar.
**Zafara - Double Agent - This Zafara-themed Avatar requires that a user search the term zafara double agent in the Neopets search bar while having a Zafara Double Agent Plushie (ZDAP) in their inventory. The plushie is quite expensive, costing 2-5 million NP.
**Grundo - Discarded Plushie - This avatar is gained when you talk to The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity in Faerieland. It may take a number of tries, as it is a random event.
Tyrannia is a prehistoric land discovered miles beneath the Ice Caves on March 21, 2001. Go there for dung furniture, evil pterodactyls, rock concerts, and of course a Giant Omelette.

Yooyuball
Tyrannia's Yooyuball team, the "Forsaken Five" was a assembled a few years before 2006 from a group made almost entirely of players whose original teams had given up on them. After a series of trades and waiver wire acquisitions, Tyrannia began to transform its motley bunch of castoffs into a selfless squad of warriors. Driven by a desire to show everyone how wrong they were to write them off, Tyrannia's "Forsaken Five" have gone on to become one of the most successful Yooyuball teams.

After their defeat in the first round playoff by Roo Island in 2006, many expected Tyrannia to retool their lineup in 2007. Rather than act on this, Tyrannia's managers believed they were simply unlucky, due to the fact it was hard to imagine anyone defeating Roo Island was playing at that time. They kept the tight knit "Forsaken Five" together, believing it would be a horrible mistake to break up one of the best Yooyuball teams in Neopia over a single playoff loss. However, their minds may change after the 2007 season.

Team positions are as follows (bolded notes the Team Captain):
:Main Article: Tyrannian

On January 7, 2001, TNT announced that the old Glass coloured pets would be turned into Tyrannian. Aside from the Tyrannian Paint Brush, users can paint their Neopets using the Lab Ray, Morphing Potions or Rainbow Fountain.

As of February 2009, 38 Neopets and 48 Petpets are available in the Tyrannian colour...

Trivia
Originally, Tyrannia had three maps to its name: the Jungle, the Plateau to the North, and the Volcano even further north. After The Tyrannian Invasion, the volcano map was removed on the August 15, 2001, and the volcano's shops and games moved down to the Plateau. Visiting the volcano now results in a 1-Player Challenger appearing and challenging the user in the Battledome on their first visit, while later visits result in the user being shooed back to the Plateau. Also in this change, The Time Machine, a Kitchen Quest like game, was removed.

Climate
The northern area, which is the plateau, is usually dry with little rain, while the southern part is more of a tropical climate, with wetter weather.
The Jelly Chia was the result of an experiment by a deranged confectioner named Wizzle. Hoping to become rich and famous, he planned to create an 'edible friend', a pet which would be your buddy until you decided to eat it. One of his first experiments, Wizzle looked after the Jelly Chia, read it stories, and educating it about Neopia. This continued until Wizzle got hungry, and he walked up to the Jelly Chia licking his lips. Suddenly realising what was going to happen, the Jelly Chia launched himself at Wizzle in desperation, slowly dissolving him. Nobody ever saw Wizzle again after that day.
If you look carefully at the old, disused chocolate factory on the hill, you may still be able to find the lonely Jelly Chia bouncing around looking for new play things, and still hear Wizzle's screams.

Similar to the Premium referral system. Neopets users can refer their friends in order to get prizes. This is done using an individual URL for each member. This URL is also incorporated into a series of buttons, banners and Neobadges which lead anyone who clicks on them to a referral page. All the people you refer have to be different, and they also have to play Neopets. Just signing up with fake accounts does not work. You will NOT get credit for an account until it is 'activated'. The new member must confirm their email address by clicking on the link in the email we send to them in order for you to get credit as having referred them.

These are the referral prizes:
