The Chia is a lovable little character who is full of joy. Chia love exploring the land and making new friends.The name Chia may be related to the Chia Pet-like tufts of hair on top of their heads.

The very first Neopet, Thyassa, was "born" on November 14, 1999 (the day before the site was officially opened). Chias appear to be great favorites with Neopets staff and are available in a wide array of variations (not available to any other pet species) that look like fruits and vegetables. (For example, the Orange Chia looks like an actual orange instead of simply being orange in color.) More recently, Neopets staff have added the Durian and the Carrot Chia. Chias are well known for being the food of Lupes, and perhaps that accounts for the many colours, or rather, flavours, of Chias.

The chia was one of the first neopet ever made and comes in the widest variety of colors of all the pets, including a range of fruit colors attained using [[Magical Chia Pops]]. [[Adam Powell]] owns four [[Asparagus]] chias plus his bori on his [[Neopets]] account, [http://www.neopets.com/randomfriend.phtml?user=borovan borovan].

Despite their popularity with the original creators, no recent merchandise based on the Chia has ever been made available. However, when Neopets merchandise was just starting to be released, there were Yellow Chia plushies and Purple Chia plushies. Lack of new merchandise may be due to a legal dispute among Neopets and Joseph Enterprises, Inc over the use of the name "Chia" (the Chia Pet).

Joseph Enterprises, the company that made Chia Pets sued Neopets Inc. for using the name Chia as a species. The lawsuit never got anywhere. The first chia and therefore, first neopet ever made was [[Thyassa]] mentioned later in the wiki article. The Chia, while being Neopet's first [[Neopet]] is not the most common at all. As of March 2006, the Chia is ranked about 28th out of 50+ species, with over 2.4 million created.

Moehogs are swift-footed and eager to help others. There are not that many Moehogs in Neopia so spotting one is quite a rare event.

Initially considered a very rare neopet, this creature has starting appearing around Neopia more frequently. Considered by many as a rebel with a cause, this neopet is often seen in the middle of concerts partying with the best of them. Perhaps the music from the growing music population attracted these music-loving creatures? Whatever the cause, this neopets fun loving attitude, street-wise intelligence and humor make it a prime candidate for a family of other neopets. Just make sure to keep this Neopet separated with the more short-tempered neopets.

Seal-like, this neopet has huge teeth and an insatiable love of fish. Easily found near the icy waters of [[Terror Mountain]] and Snow Valley, offer this neopet a fish and it'll be more than happy to follow you around for the day. More interested in playing than fighting, you'll be hard pressed to find a Tuskininny near any battledome arena. If a person is determined however, it has been said that offers of large amounts of fish have met with some success. Woe befalls anyone who comes between a Tuskinniny and its fish. Perhaps that is the secret to unleashing their real power?
