Captain Dread is a skeletal Kiko pirate who originally destroyed Maraqua with a curse in The Destruction of Maraqua, when King Koi refused to pay the pirates' protection money. Dread sailed the submarine The Revenge.

His vendetta was carried on by Captain Scarblade. What happened to Dread afterwards is unknown. It is, however, suspected that Captain Dread could be an outdated version of Captain Scarblade. How he placed the curse is also unknown.

Trivia
*An image of Captain Dread holding a bottle and grinning is featured as a background in the game Kiko Match II.
*He appeared in the now retried game Deckswabber as one of the enemies in the later levels. He followed the player's icon, was very fast, and touching him would kill the player instantly.
*Despite Scarblade being credited for destroying Old Maraqua since the Curse of Maraqua plot, the Festival of Neggs 2012 stated that Dread did, in fact, destroy the city.
The Underwater Chef is a Flotsam chef who runs the Kitchen Quest. He works as Mumbo Pango's cook on Mystery Island. He is frequently overwhelmed by his workload as Mumbo Pango demands meals every 5 minutes, and seeks help by asking Neopians to find ingredients for him in the Kitchen Quest. He stars in the game Island Chef Academy.

The Underwater Chef used to live in Old Maraqua serving King Koi's Royal Family of Maraqua, for whom he did the original Kitchen Quest. He was updated to be a Flotsam and relocated to Mystery Island when Maraqua was destroyed. He has remained on Mystery Island even though Maraqua has since been rebuilt. The original chef appeared to be a shrimp-like creature instead of a Neopet.
The Wishing Well is a place in the Neopian Plaza where Neopians can make wishes. By putting in any amount of Neopoints and wishing for an item they want, it's possible to receive that item. No one knows how long the Wishing Well has existed or what powers it, be it a magical spirit or its own magical properties.

Users need to type in the object name correctly for it to work, as the Wishing Well can't guess what it is the users wants. Also, the Well isn't fast in response, as it sleeps for 18 hours a day. As of August 3, 2006, the Wishing Well gives out prizes four times daily. The amount of NP given doesn't affect the outcome of receiving the item wished for. Because of the Wishing Well's erratic nature in choosing what wish it grants, rumours and ideas on how to get what you want spread on the NeoBoards and other means, leaving many users hurt because they believe in them.

Trivia
*There is a stamp of the Wishing Well called Wishing Well Stamp, part of the Neopia Central collection.
*The Wishing Well was originally part of the Neopian Bazaar, but was moved to the Neopian Plaza with the art redesign on May 3, 2006.
*There is a Wishing Well avatar. To receive the avatar, make a wish at the Wishing Well with 48,673 neopoints. It doesn't matter what item you wish for. Make sure it's one of your first 7 wishes that day.

The Usul is a squirrel-like Neopet released on November 15, 1999 as one of the original Neopets on the site. Usuls are loyal and friendly pets who prefer to live in trees. During cold weather, Usuls are the first to share their food with friends. They also enjoy grooming, and are very proud of being Usuls (the default Usul petpage mentions "Usul Power!" several times).

The Usul began to receive large attention on June 7, 2001, with the release of Usuki Dolls and Usukiland, an item type and shop which focuses solely on Usul-type items. The Usul can also be painted the Usuki colour, which is unique to the Usul with the Usuki Paint Brush. Because of its affiliation with Usuki, the Usul is to date the most featured Neopet in all of the items in Neopets, with newer Usuki being added every year, including on August 20, the Annual Usuki Doll Convention. The name possibly comes from a mix of the words "usagi" (meaning rabbit in Japanese) and "squirrel".

In the Neopets Trading Card Game, Usuls are associated with the element of Earth.

Battledome
In the Battledome, Usuls have a 20% resistance to dark attacks. They are vulnerable to fire and water, receiving 20% more damage from each. They also have three species abilities:

* 484 items can be found with the keyword "usuki" in them.

There are also fifteen pieces of equipment that can only be used by an Usul.

Colours
As of November 2011, Usuls can come in 51 different colours:
Water is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets. In general, Water pets are blue in colour and are decorated with waves, splashes, and bubbles.

The Water colour was released on August 30, 2011. Users can change the colour of their Neopets to Water by using a Water Paint Brush item at the Rainbow Pool. In addition, the Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Neopet to Water. Users also have the choice of changing their Neopet's colour to Water when they complete a Fountain Faerie Quest. Lastly, a Neopet's colour can be changed to Water by using an appropriate Morphing Potion.

Neopets
As of November 2011, 6 Neopets are available in the Water colour:

Eliv Thade is a Ghost Kacheek introduced on February 24, 2003 via the puzzle game The Castle of Eliv Thade. With his residence in the Haunted Woods, he torments whoever comes into his castle with puzzles and riddles.

Overview
While alive, Eliv Thade was a professional puzzle writer, and prided himself on being able to solve any puzzle. Many tried to stump him and gain fame for being the only one to do so, but none could. One day, however, one of Thade's servants gave him a long and complicated puzzle he couldn't solve. He spent months in his castle's libraries, reading books in the hope of finding the answer, but could find none. During this time, the servant would taunt Eliv, which would put him in a fit of rage.

Solving the puzzle turned into an obsession, and years later Eliv Thade was driven insane. His servants left the castle for their own safety, and it fell into disrepair. Eliv died alone many years later, still unable to solve the puzzle. His spirit still roams the castle, seeking vengeance against anyone who would dare enter his home, pitting difficult anagrams and other puzzles against them. Thus far, the only one known to survive is Gilly.

It is not known how Eliv Thade acquired his trademark sewn-on patch of white skin around his left eye (which is large and red), although it is often used to identify him. The Neopets Team once joked in a Neopian Times' editorial that he had an accident with scissors when he was young. In a more recent editorial, it was confirmed that the portrait in the bedroom of the castle is of Eliv Thade while he was alive, which possibly raises further questions. (The portrait shows both of his eyes looking a bit more similar to the left eye of his specter and he has a full head of hair as well.) It's also unknown why his hands and feet are bandaged; whether it was from an accident when he was alive or a result of him being a ghost. Also, despite having his hands bandaged, he's still more or less able to use them, as seen when he was shoveling snow and when he was drinking tea.

Etymology
Because of Eliv's obsession with anagrams, it has been suggested that his unusual name may be one. Possible anagrams produced from this name include "Live Hated", "Vile Death", and "Evil Death", possible references to his obsession with the unsolved puzzle; "Evade Hilt", which may be a reference to the use of a sword in his game to escape; "Hate Devil" and "Veiled Hat".

Trivia
*As of November 2011, Eliv Thade is featured in 22 different items. He is also featured in a background image, a shop blog, and an avatar.
*Eliv Thade's game spawned four Hidden Tower items: Grimoire Of Thade, Amulet of Thilg, Sword of Skardsen, and Shield of Pion Troect.
*On January 28, 2004, an Eliv Thade day occurred for the New Features the day before Kacheek Day.
*Eliv was added to the Gallery of Evil on August 28, 2007.
*While living alone in his castle, Eliv Thade has been seen with other inhabitants in the Haunted Woods, such as The Esophagor and The Brain Tree while shoveling during a winter, and drinking tea with Sophie.
The Pterodactyl (also known as the Tyrannian Beast) is an ancient creature that lurks in the caves north of Tyrannia. The Monoceraptor is a monster which invaded Tyrannia along with an army of Tyrannian Neopets during The Tyrannian Invasion. Making its first visual appearance on May 10, 2001, he was the boss challenger of the war, coming after seven initial waves of invaders. Considered one of the most fearsome beasts of Neopia, it's thick leathery hide is full of scars from all the battles he won.

After the ransacking of Tyrannia, the Monoceraptor earned himself a place in the Gallery of Evil on May 11, 2001, but was replaced with Commander Garoo at some unrecorded later point for unknown reasons. It was implied at the end of the war the Monoceraptor was the puppet of some greater evil, although it is an open thread as to who this could have been. There is some speculation it could have been Dr. Sloth, and other believe it was a joke from The Neopets Team, who were testing the new Battledome system with the Tyrannian war and not creating a future plot.

Plot summary
The Tyrannian Invasion
:Main Article: The Tyrannian Invasion

The Monoceraptor was first mentioned in the Battledome's scrolling marquee, the day before the invasion itself began. The message read "The Monoceraptor will crush your puny Tyrannia!". Speculation as to who or what the Monoceraptor was was fuelled with a proclamation of his imminent arrival on 9th May. The Monoceraptor held true to his word, and stormed into Tyrannia the next day, after all his waves had been defeated.

The hastily assembled Tyrannian Army, weary from the intense waves of fighting that proceeded the Monoceraptor's arrival, fought together against him, until he was eventually defeated by a heroic Lupe.
The Monoceraptors Claw (as it is an item name, there is no possessive apostrophe) is one of the most powerful and valued weapons in the Battledome. It was for a time available for purchase from the Hidden Tower before it was retired, and can now only be bought from other users. Interestingly enough, the Monoceraptors Claw is blood red and blade-like, unlike with the green and yellow claw colour in images of the Monoceraptor.

The Monoceraptors Claw inflicts six icons of light damage, six icons of earth damage, six icons of fire damage, and one to six icons of physical damage.

Trivia
The Slorg is a slug-like Spooky Petpet released on August 30, 2001. They almost always have a huge, inane grin and large, round eyes. Slorgs are featured in the game Attack of the Slorgs and appear in some other games like Feed Florg and Petpet Cannonball.

The Slorg is often used to comic effect by The Neopets Team: for example, they released a personality quiz - Which Petpet are You? - that always resulted, no matter what options were chosen, in the conclusion that the user was a Slorg. This was later claimed to be a "technical problem" and "fixed" on September 19, 2002, since which time the user is always categorised as a Pink Slorg.

It was suggested the website's now closed polls that the Slorg may become a Neopet, in the same way as the Krawk in that a young Slorg would still be a Petpet and its adult version would become a Neopet. While votes for the idea were high, the idea has not been developed any further, and may just have been a comic conjecture.

The Slorg forms a Slorgclops when combined in the Cooking Pot with a Meowclops.

In Neopets: Petpet Adventures - The Wand of Wishing they are common enemies.

Lord Darigan is a Darigan Korbat and ruler of Darigan Citadel, a dark kingdom floating above Meridell. He waged war on Meridell in order to retrieve a magic orb that brought prosperity, that was taken from his people and caused them to mutate into their current twisted forms, but has since made peace with the other kingdom. He was the main antagonist of the Champions of Meridell plot, but somewhat reformed during the Battle for Meridell plot.

Plot summaries
Champions of Meridell
:Main Article: Champions of Meridell

King Skarl, corrupted with greed and holding great power with the Meridellian Army, captured the orb that had kept the peace and stability in Lord Darigan's kingdom. Since they knew no war and were peaceful, the orb was taken without any resistance. After this a plague spread over his people, transforming them into dark and violent Neopets, and his kingdom was ripped from the ground and began to fly in the air. Lord Darigan became obsessed with retrieving the orb for his people, and with his lieutenant Galgarroth raised an army for what would be the First Meridell-Darigan War.

Darigan Citadel was victorious and Meridell was sacked, and the power of the orb and the manipulations of the The Three corrupted Lord Darigan, turning him into the Spectre of Lord Darigan. He wished to destroy all of Neopia, and would have, but for the Master Vex, who opposed Darigan's madness and collaborated with his then-prisoner the Yellow Knight, to convince Galgarroth to lead a revolt against him. Together with King Skarl, Jeran, Lisha and her friends, they led a great uprising and over-came Darigan. He disappeared, leaving the orb behind.

Battle for Meridell
:Main Article: Battle for Meridell

Lord Darigan disappeared and lost his grasp on his own being, becoming feral, until compassion from farm girl named Sally allowed him to recover himself from being The Bat-Thing and reclaiming his being as Lord Darigan, rising up to fight the new king of the Darigan Citadel, Lord Kass, Lord Darigan's former subordinate and follower. After fighting, Lord Kass disappeared mysteriously, and Lord Darigan reclaimed his leadership and established a truce with Meridell for 1,000 years. Lord Darigan and Galgarroth continue to work hard in his chambers to rebuild their realm, restore peace and make his followers see the error of their ways.

Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
:Main Article: Neopets: The Darkest Faerie

Even though Neopets: The Darkest Faerie took place mostly within Meridell, Lord Darigan wasn't seen throughout all of it. However, Tormund's sister wore a mask pretending to be him while they played a mock fight of Jeran versus Lord Darigan.
During the Battle for Meridell plot, the design of Lord Darigan's head is highly inconsistent, going from the green lower jaw of the Champions of Meridell design and reverting to the whole and grey one of The Bat-Thing.

This confusion is further exacerbated with the Neopets TCG cards such as The Bat-Thing, Darigan, Redeemed, and Protect the Village showing disagreeing designs.

During his battle with Lord Kass, Darigan's jaw changes between the designs and afterwards it appears he is wearing a mask, also. However, with the conclusion of the plot, Lord Darigan's lower jaw was shown as whole and grey, a design believed to be now resolved to due his appearance at his chambers. However, the old design continues to appear, including in the Advent Calender animation of December 16, 2006, and Discovery of Meridell 2007.

Better Than You
Lord Darigan has been a contestant on Better Than You twice:

Trivia
*As of September 2006, there are 11 items featured Lord Darigan.
*Lord Darigan is one of the only 2 known Neopet characters drawn with five fingers, the other being Jahbal, though sometimes Clara Chatham and Judge Hog are drawn like that.
*Despite the 1,000 year truce Lord Darigan made with Meridell at the end of Battle for Meridell, some users believe he may be plotting something. The NeoGreeting Darigan Watching You which show the words "Still watching you" as Lord Darigan watches Meridell Castle atop his Citadel seem to support this theory. This could, however, refer to Lord Darigan watching King Skarl, who stole from him in the past.

If you have any questions, feel free to let us know, either on our talk pages or on the talk page of the article the question refers to and we'll do our best to address it if we can recommend a course of action. Sorry if there was any oddness in your account creation process, we've been having some issues recently but I've no doubt that you'll be a beneficial member of our community. -Cath 20:24, 6 November 2011 (CST)

::Just a note, I saw your recent addition to the Captain Dread article. The general format for the wiki is a professional, third person (on the articles, talk pages can be whatever you like). I generally use players or users for the person so He followed you, was very fast, and touching him would kill you instantly. would be He followed the player's icon, was very fast, and touching him would would lose the player a life. Or something like that. There are some older pages that haven't been updated in a while that will have other cases but, in general, we try to keep it to third person. :D -Cath 18:05, 7 November 2011 (CST)

:::Ah, I see. I wasn't sure what the correct usage would be for that. I'll go fix it. Thanks! GhostlyMeow 18:21, 7 November 2011 (CST)
