The '''National Neopian Bank''' is the center of all commerce within all [[Neopia]]. Residing within [[Neopia Central]], all [[Neopet]]s and users keep their [[Neopoints]] safely placed within this bank's secure storage safes. Users who have a certain number of [[NP]] placed within their walls have a special interest rate they can place on their stored money, netting them a yearly interest.

Originally, the National Neopian worked like a real bank, and users could take out loans at March 21, 2000. Accounts began to be debited on March 23, 2000, taking an amount of NP each day. On May 20, 2000, this feature was taken away and never came back because too many users were abusing the system.

The interest is calculated as a daily distribution, rounded up. However, you have to collect your daily interest manually. To do this, visit the [http://www.neopets.com/bank.phtml bank] everyday. Before you make any transactions, find the "collect interest" button and click on it. If you do any transaction (deposit or withdraw) before you collect your interest, you will give up your interest of that day.

==Safety Deposit Box==
Added February 29, 2000, the '''safety deposit box''' (''SDB'' for short) is a free service provided with an account at the National Neopian. It can store as many [[item]]s as a user wants. Any items kept in the safety deposit box are safe from the [[Pant Devil]], [[Sludging]] etc. It also means users can carry more items by placing items from their [[inventory]] into the SDB. Users access the Safety Deposit Box by clicking on the ''"Shops"'' task bar button and then on the ''"safe"'' image in the toolbar.
