The Darkest Faerie (also known as The Sleeper and The Betrayer) is a formidable Dark Faerie villain. She was one of the twelve heroes who founded the city of Altador, but betrayed the others and tried to take over the city. She was turned to stone by Queen Fyora with the aid of fellow founder Jerdana, and stranded at the bottom of the ocean near Maraqua. She escaped after 1,000 years and tried to destroy Meridell and Faerieland, but was defeated by Roberta and Tormund and turned to stone again.

Her original name has long been forgotten - she acquired the names of the Betrayer and the Darkest Faerie following her attempt to conquer Altador.
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie

The Darkest Faerie was the main antagonist and eponymous character of the game. The game opened with Jerdana's Orb falling from the neck of the Darkest Faerie statue, and she escaped her imprisonment. She washed up on the shores of Meridell, and set out to get revenge on Fyora. She started by possessing Illusen and went on to taint the entirety of the kingdom - save for Tormund, who had been given a charm to protect him.

Learning that 1,000 years had passed since she had been defeated, and that she was all but forgotten, she decided to announce her return by destroying Meridell entirely - by crashing Faerieland into it. She surprised Fyora and took over the flying city - the only people immune from her magic were Roberta, who had been given an amulet like Tormund, and an Aisha the Darkest Faerie thought looked familiar - in fact, she was Jerdana. Roberta escaped Faerieland and united with Tor, recognising that he had the companion amulet to hers.

The Darkest Faerie employed the Gelert Assassin to pursue them, but he was unable to stop them reaching Fyora's wand, which had been used to imprison the Darkest Faerie the first time around. When the pair brought the wand back to Faerieland, however, The Darkest Faerie disguised herself as Fyora so that they would give her the wand, then used it to trap the real Faerie Queen in a bottle. Tormund and Roberta escaped through a portal to Altador, a city it was believed the Darkest Faerie had destroyed before her imprisonment.

The heroes returned from Altador as the Darkest Faerie started the city falling over Meridell. Using Jerdana's Orb, which they had recovered while in Altador, they turned her back to stone and freed Fyora, who used her wand to make Faerieland fly again and save both cities. The Darkest Faerie's statue was kept in Faerieland, where Fyora could keep a close eye on her.

Altador Plot
Altador Plot
During the Altador Plot, users were guided by a series of puzzles to restore the city's history, which had been concealed by Jerdana to prevent the Darkest Faerie rewriting it, with herself as sole founder. These puzzles involved finding constellations representing each of the twelve founding heroes, include the Darkest Faerie herself. The clue to her constellation is the first one to be found, and is in the markings on the door of to the Restive Tomb.

Ultimately, her statue in the Hall of Heroes is destroyed by the player, as it was where Jerdana had hidden the power source for the history-hiding spell. It was the one place in the city they could be sure The Darkest Faerie would not destroy if she succeeded in taking over the city.

The Book of Ages revealed details about how The Darkest Faerie had came to join Altador in founding the city. The Lupe had set out to save a peaceful farmland from a terrible beast, but after he killed it he was ambushed by another. The Darkest Faerie saved his life, and Altador, who had never seen a Dark Faerie act compassionately, asked her to join his quest to build the greatest city on Neopia. She agreed, and served the kingdom well. Although they had differences of opinion as to how the city should be built - with or without the aid of magic - and how the city's army should be used, Altador came to think of her as a friend - which made her betrayal all the more terrible: "no sword strikes as deep as the one wielded by a friend."

The Faeries' Ruin
The Faeries' Ruin

The Darkest Faerie's statue was mentioned in the epilogue of The Faeries' Ruin. It had gone missing when Faerieland had crash landed into the Haunted Woods, and King Altador set off on a quest to recover it.
Dark Faeries, also known as Darkness Faeries, are one of the six types of faeries that inhabit Neopia. They are associated with the magical element of darkness. In general, Dark Faeries have bat-like wings and purple-hued skin. They often have vibrant purple hair and purple eyes.

Because of their dark nature, Dark Faeries often turn to evil and become villains, most notably The Darkest Faerie. This does not mean that all dark faeries are evil, however. Delina, for example, is a benevolent Dark Faerie that helps out Neopians by crafting NC Mall items.

Dark Faerie quests
Like other faeries, Dark Faeries will occasionally give a user a quest to complete. During this quest, the Dark Faerie will ask the user to bring them a specific toy. If the user completes the quest, the Dark Faerie will increase the maximum hit points of the user's active Neopet by 2.

Lord Kass was an Eyrie former general in the army of Lord Darigan, who took over the rule of Darigan Citadel after Darigan disappeared after the Champions of Meridell plot. After becoming the Lord of the Citadel, he managed to convince his people to go to war with Meridell again through an extensive propaganda campaign. He was the main antagonist during the Battle for Meridell plot.

Plot Summary
Battle for Meridell
:Main Article: Battle for Meridell

After the Spectre of Lord Darigan was destroyed and Darigan disappeared, Kass was contacted by The Three who encouraged him to take power and succeed where Lord Darigan failed. Corrupted by the ghostly apparitions, General Kass bribed and threatened his way to power in Darigan's stead. Ardent supporters of Darigan who opposed Kass' rise to power were charged with treason and disposed of - Master Vex was locked in his own dungeon, and Galgarroth was chained up and thrown from the floating fortress.

After General Kass had gained enough support in the Citadel to claim he was Lord, he managed to convince his people King Skarl was ready to attack them. He suggested war, and, after his disinformation drive, received the support of his people and begun the invasion.

During this time, Lord Kass' dreams were haunted by The Three, who claimed he wasn't strong enough, and would take away his power if he wasn't greedy enough to use it, to which Lord Kass begged they don't take it away.

Soon after, Lord Kass sent a dancer to King Skarl, the daughter of the enchantress Morguss, The Court Dancer. With her dance she hypnotized King Skarl along with his subjects. Jeran's army in the field was left unsupported. After the Court Dancer's spell was broken, Meridell launched a counter attack, sending forces to meet the oncoming waves on the ground as well as sending Jeran to lead a force to fly in against the Citadel itself.

Atop the Citadel, Lord Kass trapped Morris and Count Boris in a corner, but was stopped by Jeran. Kass quickly disposed of him and threw him off the edge of the fortress, and was immediately attacked by returned Lord Darigan. After a duel with Darigan, Lord Kass fled deeper into the Citadel, and was taken in an explosion of magic by The Three in revenge for his failure.

As the war boss of the Battle for Meridell, for every unsuccessful battle fought against him - that is to say, every time a player lost against him - Lord Kass lost one hit point for each future challenge. He was worth 10,000 war points to the player who finally defeated him - garet_jaxx.

Lord Kass used eight weapons:
*Lord Kass' amulet is a real item called Lord Kass Amulet, only one of which exists and was given to garet_jaxx as a war prize.
*Lord Kass happens to be ambidextrous, both left and right handed as seen from certain Battle of Meridell chapters.
* His rise to power through propaganda, betrayal and other underhanded techniques mirrors the rise of many real world dictators.
NeoQuest II
NeoQuest II

Ramtor put the guards of Meridell castle under his spell and forced King Skarl of the throne and into the dungeon of his tower. Not long after, he casted a spell over the land, causing the normally peaceful creatures to become hostile and violent, in his effort to prevent the citizens of Meridell of ever dethroning him. He was eventually forced to retreat from Meridell when Rohane and Mipsy were close to defeating him, because he wasn't taking him seriously. Back in his tower, Ramtor fought against Rohane and Mipsy again, but was defeated. His fate after this was unknown, although he was likely inmprisoned in the Meridell dungeon after King Skarl was freed.

NeoQuest II
The top boss for the Meridell portion of the game. Ramtor has 200 hp and flees the first time you fight him, when his health is down 50%. He is an above average magic user.
The Pant Devil is an evil creature (or one of a species of evil creatures, see 'Trivia' below) which steals items from Neopets users' inventories (as a Random Event). Rather than fight its victims, the Pant Devil prefers to leave them weakened and let others finish them off as it runs off with all the possessions. Spotted all over Neopia, and also appears as a "prize" for the Wheel of Excitement and Wheel of Misfortune, stealing a random item from a users inventory.

Plot Summaries
Defenders of Neopia Series 1
:Main Article: Defenders of Neopia

While Ginny was out on her new bike, the Pant Devil snuck up on her and stole it from her, quickly taking it away. He was soon afterwards caught and defeated by someone from the Defenders of Neopia, and Ginny's bike was returned.

NeoQuest II
:Main Article: II
There are 2 separate, extremely powerful Pant Devil bosses in II. Each of them guards part of the key to King Terask. They are found in Faerieland, part 5 of the game. Both Pant Devils have 2,000 hp and are high magic users with Self Hasting, Enemy Group Damage, Enemy Individual Damage, and Enemy Slowing. Each is in a separate tower of the Faerie Palace.

Battledome
The Pant Devil was the first challenger to be released to fight in the Battledome on August 16, 2001, as an Alpha-Test for the 1-Player Battledome challenges. He was later released as the first challenge in the original series of Defenders of Neopia on June 1, 2002.
* I hope the chia I stole this off of doesn't need it. HAHA!
* I still have a few tricks up my sleeve...
* I think it is a little too dark in here...
* Not so fast! I will steal all your items!
* Paah! I will beat you easily!
* Try it, I dare you...
* What do you think? The money tree is silly isn't it?
* You should really try harder...
*HAHAHA, we meet again, but you haven't beaten me yet!
*(unknown) (random During Fight quote)

After Win...
* So, we meet again! (random During Fight quote)

Frozen
* Aargh! I can't move! (random During Fight quote)

Lose
* Hehe, better luck next time!!!

Win
* Hehe, you may have beaten me this time, but just you wait...

Trivia
http://images.neopets.com/neoboards/avatars/pantdeviltaunt.gif
*As of September 2006, the Pant Devil is featured in 14 different items.
*Sometimes mistakenly called the Pants Devil or Paint Devil.
*It's uncertain if there is one single Pant Devil or several of them, as the Pant Devil's Gallery of Evil entry says "They have been spotted all over Neopia", and two of them are fought in NeoQuest II.
*There is an Avatar called I Taunt The Pant Devil which shows the Pant Devil crying as he's taunted by users. Users can receive the avatar by viewing their inventory while carrying items whose cumulative estimated value exceeds 5 million Neopoints (while not in the Trading Post). Refreshing may be required, and the event appears at the bottom of the page.
*The Whoot is said to have an uncanny ability to know when the Pant Devil is around.
*It is possible that the image depicting the Pant Devil on his NeoDeck card is a joke on his name, because it shows him stealing a pair of pants, hence "Pant" Devil.
*The Pant Devil has a brother, named the Ice Devil, who apparently also steals people's items in a Random Event.
Despite all that, If you fight him at level 20 or above and have good healing potions along with some points in fortitude, you will defeat him with ease. Unlock most other bosses in the game, he does not die after he is defeated and simply walks off, never seen again in the game.
She was so powerful she was sealed away at the bottom of the sea for 1,000 years by Fyora after she tried to force the kingdom of Altador under her rule. Since then her name has been forgotten, and is now simply referred to as the darkest and most evil of all Faeries.

Plot summaries
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie

The Darkest Faerie is the main antagonist of the game and its title character. At the start of the game, The Darkest Faerie escaped from her imprisonment under the sea when Jerdana's Orb fell from her neck. Soon after that, she washed up on the shores of Meridell, claiming she was going to make everything dark and twisted. After Illusen's charm was stolen by the Werelupe King, nothing could stop The Darkest Faerie from taking over the land, and she quickly covered Meridell in a dark purple cloud, tainting all inhabitants under them (sans Tormund who had a necklace that protected him from her magic) with her evil. She also attacked Faerieland, tainting the inhabits as well and tying up Fyora. (sans Roberta who had a necklace similar to Tormund's) Her ultimate goal was to destroy both Faerieland and Meridell, which she nearly did by using Fyora's Rod. Thanks to Tormund and Roberta she was imprisoned in stone once again.

Altador Plot
Altador Plot

In the Altador Plot, users were required to find The Darkest Faerie's contellation, known as The Sleeper. Finding her constellation began to break down a spell that was cast over Altador to cover up it's history.

On the 28th of March, a new link was discovered on the Altador map that led to the Restive Tomb. Clicking one of the holes in the center of the door would reveal the pattern of the first constellation. Go back to the Archivist then to the observatory. Find the constellation and report back to the Astronomy Club. The gems above the Darkest Faerie statue now glow and The Sleeper chapter in the Book of Ages is filled in.

Book of Ages: Chapter 1, The Sleeper
<blockquote>Just as a hero must perform a heroic deed before he can be named as such, a villain must also do something terrible in order to earn such a title. The Betrayer was not always an evil being and was once even respected for her deeds. Long before the Great Betrayal, (in fact, before the founding of Altador), she earned her place among the twelve Founders by saving the life of King Altador himself.<br><br>

A terrible menace was plaguing a peaceful farmland, and a hunter (the future king of Altador) journeyed forth to slay the beast. He tracked it back to its lair in a cave at the base of a mountain and there cornered it. Though the beast roared viciously, Altador did not falter.<br><br>

Rather, he notched an arrow and let it fly, striking the beast squarely in the head. Even as the vile creature slumped to the ground, another of its kind snuck up on the unsuspecting Lupe. The noble hunter would have fallen then and there if not for a purple blast of magic. Startled, Altador spun around, just in time to see the other creature collapse. There, standing behind it, was a dark faerie... the Betrayer.<br><br>

Altador thanked her graciously for saving his life. He had never witnessed such compassion on the part of a dark faerie before, so he bid her to return with him to his village, where they would feast and be praised as heroes.<br><br>

Each carried the head of the beast they had slain to the village, and a grand celebration was held long into the night. Altador, realising what a unique ally he had acquired, asked her to stay and join him and his companions in fulfilling a dream he had of founding a great city. The Betrayer agreed, and though she would ultimately help to build the kingdom's august capital and serve the council well, nothing can make up for her terrible betrayal. She broke the king's heart, for no sword strikes as deep as the one wielded by a friend....</blockquote>

Trivia
*Random Events involving the Darkest Faerie...
**The Darkest Faerie appears to be deep in thought and doesn't notice you. You'd better run before she finds you and... well, you don't want to know what will happen.
*It was long thought that the name of the Darkest Faerie was Jennumara, the Dark Faerie who had stolen the name of a Grey Faerie in her Neopedia article. However, this speculation was cleared in the editorial of issue 239 of the Neopian Times, stating they were two separate Dark Faeries.
