Hubrid Nox is the arch-enemy of Magax. He is an evil Chia who despises Lupes and has a variety of weapons named after him, including the Hubrid's Noxious Blade, which does massive damage to Lupes, especially when being mixed with a Carrotblade to form a Noxious Carrotblade. He is also known for summoning large armies of Ghost Neopets.
This evil, nefarious, scheming Chia makes his home atop a desolate mountain in the Haunted Woods. He lives alone, as he prefers his devilish plans not to be interrupted. Whether its conquering just one city, or the whole of Neopia, whether he uses ghosts, aliens, zombies or mutants - Hubrid has an evil plan for every day of the week.

Hubrid's arch enemy is the Wocky known as MAGAX: Destroyer. In fact their conflict is so famous in the world of Neopia they star in their very own game!
NeoQuest II
This is an optional boss found in II, the Haunted Woods part 4 of the game. 1,500 hp, high magic user with self healing, Enemy Direct Damage, Enemy Slowing, and Self Hasting. He was accused of casting a spell to make the sun stay up, but it was Edna. He is considered to be one of the hardest bosses in the game, alongside the The Four Faeries, and King Terask II, due to his high magic resistance and frequent healing. However, defeating him will give a high amount of experience.

The Faeries' Ruin
The Faeries' Ruin
In the 2010 plot, Hubrid Nox was considered to be the main antagonist after being seen in Hanso's flashback at the beginning of the story. In this flashback it was shown that he had bought the "artefact" from Hanso (who had stolen it from Xandra), and used it to turn all of the Faeries into stone. However, the 5th chapter of the plot comic confirmed fan speculation that Hubrid Nox was not the real culprit, after he is attacked in the woods by a lookalike. Dialogue from the step that came with Chapter 15 suggests that Hubrid Nox was killed rather than simply stunned, something already hinted at in the 5th chapter by the skull and cross bones symbol in the cloud of smoke. In the 2010 Advent Calendar, it was confirmed that Nox had indeed been killed. This was confirmed when Magax left a present at his tombstone. As Magax walked away, a ghostly arm reached from the grave and pulled the gift down into the ground.
Faerieland is a magical floating kingdom that sits upon a gigantic cloud located 10,000 feet above the surface of Neopia. It is the homeland of the faeries and is ruled by Fyora, the Faerie Queen. When Faerieland was first released, users could only enter if they had a special Faerie Totem item. This requirement was quickly dropped however, and today users do not need a totem to enter Faerieland.

A Paint Brush is a special item which gives the user the ability to change the colour of one of their Neopets. Paint Brushes were originally found by Random Events, which means they can be bought from other user's shops or Auctions, and are also given away as prizes from Contests. Special Paint Brushes can also be bought in the Hidden Tower, and newer plots also allow users to buy Paint Brushes with the points they collected from participating (the first plot to do this was the Lost Desert Plot, which rewarded the Lost Desert Paint Brush for 70,000 points). The recent addition of Key Quest to the site provided an additional method of gaining Paint Brushes by allowing players to win certain Paint Brushes as prizes, including the Biscuit, Camouflage, Cloud, Ghost, Glowing, Striped, Snow, Speckled, Starry and Tyrannian Paint Brushes. There are also Petpet paint brushes, which change the colour of a Petpet.

In addition to providing new colours for Neopets, some paint brush colours seem more costume-like and fanciful, such as Halloween, Plushie and Tyrannian. Some paint brushes are rarer than others, but aside from the no-trade starter brushes, they all rank expensive items.

To use a paint brush on a Neopet, a proper paint brush colour scheme must be available for the chosen Neopet, then the user must go to the Rainbow Pool, where its waters allow the brushes' magic to work. Using just a paint brush on a Neopet or going to the Rainbow Pool will not change the colour of the Neopet, as both must be used in conjunction for the magic to work. A Paint brush can only be used once, and after using it on a Neopet, it will disappear. The Rainbow Pool should not be confused with the Rainbow Fountain.
Paint Brush Relations
Some paint brushes have a link to worlds of Neopia. Usually so they can fit in there or just for a nice new look.

*Neopia Central - Plushie Paint Brush
*Faerieland - Faerie Paint Brush
*Lutari Island - Lutari Island Paint Brush

Non-Paint Brush Relations
Some worlds do not have a paint brush but are still related in some way to the world to fit in. These colours can be received by other means then painting.

*Virtupets Space Station-Robot
*Jelly World-Jelly
*Terror Mountain-Ice

Non-Paint Brush Painting
Paint brushes can change a pet into most of its available colours, but not necessarily all. Some colours are only available via the Lab Ray including Robot, Ice, Sponge, and MSP. Any colour (except Baby, Pirate, Plushie, Quiguki, Royal, and Usuki) can be given by the lab ray without need of a paint brush. Additionally, there is no Mutant Paint Brush; the only away of obtaining a mutant pet is for a player to use a Transmogrification Potion of the species he or she wants on the pet, or to get it through the lab or Rainbow Fountain. Players sometimes accidentally feed Potions to their pets, thinking they will get the colour or species change but only using it on the pet gets the desired effect.

Often, Morphing Potions and Magical Plushies are available to change a Neopet into a different species and/or colour, and are, for some of the more popular combinations, a much cheaper option that a paint brush.

Additionally, all fruit/vegetable colours (other than Strawberry) can not be obtained with a Paint Brush. These are available with a Magical Chia Pop, through the Lab Ray, or the Rainbow Fountain. Chia Pops, with very few exceptions, only work on Chias. They will not turn a player's pet into a Chia.

With the exception of a few Chia fruit/vegetable colours, there are some colours that are available to only one or two pet species. Examples of this; No pet other than the Aisha can be "Alien," and Usuki paint brushes only work on Usuls and Quiggles.

The newly released Magma colour is only available through having your pet dipped at the Magma Pool, when the guard is either asleep or he lets you in.

Unusable Paint Brushes
Very rarely, a paint brush colour is retired. The paint brushes become unusable (and in the case of the Unicorn brush, disappear completely) and pets painted the retired colour no longer remain it, but may be changed to a newer version. An example of this occurred on the 8th of January, 2002, when the Glass Paint Brush was retired, and replaced with the Tyrannian Paint Brush. Some of the glass pets were turned into the newer Tyrannian versions (the Shoyru was one of the first Tyrannian Pets), while the others remained as glass pets until a Tyrannian version was made for each of them. The list of retired brushes is:

*Glass - Glass coloured pets were automatically repainted the Tyrannian colour.)
*Jelly - The Jelly Paint Brush is a special case as the item was never released and, most likely, never will be , despite the fact that the image can be found in the image database.
*Shadowed - Now the Shadow colour.
*Lutari - A colour similar to Mystery Island. No pets were ever released in this colour, so the item is not usable. It does not "paint" a pet into a Lutari.
*Stars - Now the Starry colour.
*Stone - Stone coloured pets were automatically repainted the Mystery Island colour.
*Unicorn - Replaced by the Unicorn Gem, later renamed to the Uni Gem.

Note that, if the actual paint brush (as an item) is retired, it does not always mean it cannot be used. Paint brushes such as the Lost Desert Paint Brush, the Faerie Paint Brush, the Golden Paint Brush, and others are retired, but may still be used and The Neopets Team continue to make these colours available for new species.

Petpet Paint Brush
A Petpet Paint Brush is designed for painting Petpets a specific colour. They work much in the same way as a Paint Brush for Neopets - they are used at the Petpet Puddle, akin to the Rainbow Pool, to paint a Petpet attached to a user's Neopet.

Interestingly, many colours that Neopets cannot obtain with a Paint Brush, only with alternative means such as via the Secret Laboratory, are available as a Paint Brush for Petpets, such as Robot or Mutant colours.

As of March 2009, there are 38 different Petpet Paint Brushes...
Trivia
*On May 15th, 2002, the Baby colour won the first Paint Brush competition.
*The second Paint Brush competition between the Tartan, Mystery Island and Pirate colours went live on May 16th, 2002. Pirate won the majority with 194,375 total votes.
*There are three colours only available by using a Paint Brush: Royal, Usuki, and Quiguki. These colours are not available through the Rainbow Fountain or the Lab Ray.
*It is rumoured that the Lutari Island paintbrush will be called the Tropical Paintbrush.
*The paint brush, Strawberry Fields Forever Paint Brush, is based on the Beatles song 'Strawberry Fields Forever'.
