This is a list of locations that appear in the role-playing game I. NeoQuest I is set in Ancient Neopia.

Settlements
Neopia City
Neopia City is where the player begins. It is in the north east of the Ancient Neopia. It is the home of Eleus Batrin, Boraxis the Healer, Choras Tille, Lummock Sendent, and Morax Dorangis. This is where the player can pick up their first sets of armour and alternate basic wands. After retrieving Xantan's Ring, Eleus will be able to craft the player their next wand. If the player returns here with the Rusty Medallion, Eleus will suggest taking it to Gali Yoj in Sunny City.

Swamp Edge City
Swamp Edge City is in the north west of the Ancient Neopia continent. It is home to Mokti and Leirobas, who will provide you with a Dawnshine Generator Shield or Sorcerous Robe in return for biological samples. It was also the home of Rikti before he became trapped in Dank Cave. Leirobas will also provide a Jewel of Power for Erick in the Temple of Roo to make the player a new weapon.

Sunny City
Sunny City is set high up in the Techo Mountains in the south west of the continent. The weather is always sunny as it is above the cloud cover. Gali Yoj, Eleus Batrin's former teacher, lives here, and will tell the player about Kal Panning and the Two Rings, and will clean Rollay Scaleback's medallion so that it may be used against Faleinn.

Kal Panning
Kal Panning is a city set on an island in the south east of the Ancient Neopia continent. Once prosperous, after the Great Empire split into two factions it was the site of a great battle. The Circle of Twelve laid siege to the city for a month. Both sides used powerful sorcerers against each other, but eventually the Circle of Twelve's wizards cursed their enemy such that the city itself rose up and attacked its people. It left the city as a haunted ruin, infested with its undead citizens, including their leader Faleinn.

When the player first reaches it, it is in ruins. However, once the player has defeated Faleinn, it is restored to its former splendour, and Faleinn herself returns as a ghost and explains how Jahbal was deposed and sealed in the Two Rings. By defeating her, the player obtains the key needed to enter the Two Rings and complete the game.

Dungeons
Dank Cave
Dank Cave is north west of Neopia City. It has four levels. Rikti has been trapped on the second level, and tells the player of Xantan the Foul, the monster who resides on the fourth. The player uses Xantan's ring to obtain a superior weapon from Eleus Batrin.

Jungle Ruins
The Jungle Ruins are south east of Neopia City. Centuries ago, it was a biological research lab, where Korabric's team used magic to analyse and create life. They created the jungle which eventually overgrew the facility. It is overrun with monsters, including a tribe of pygmies the scholars had brought in to study. Korabric and his team were able to contain the pygmies until one of the scholars - Rollay - went mad and started using the research to his own ends, creating an army of lizards in the caves underneath the building.

The only original members of the team left in the ruins are Korabric - who locked himself at the top of the Ruins' tower - and Rollay - who since his experiments began has mutated himself into a lizard-man, and is found on the lowest basement of the building. There are also two pygmy bosses - Kreai and Gors the Mighty - in the basement levels above Rollay.

Scattered about the Ruins there are three members of an archaeological expedition - Margoreth, he pupil Tylix, and their expedition leader Denethrir. Denethrir resides in the library on the first floor of the Ruins' tower, which is free from monsters, where he studies the Gaia Wands. Also on Rollay's level is Pomanna, a Kiko who came to the Ruins in time to see Rollay building his hoards.

Techo Caves
The Techo Caves is a warren of tunnels that run through the Techo Mountains in the south west of Neopia. They permit access to Sunny City and the Mountain Fortress, and allow passage to the south east part of the continent. Mr. Irgo resides near the beginning of the caves, and can build the player new armour in returns to black market body parts obtained off the monsters in the cave.

There are seven caves, only one of which is a dead end.

Mountain Fortress
Located in the Techo Mountains, Mountain Fortress has five halls, with a boss in each one. Each boss - Elemental Guardians - is associated with a different element of magic. They drop the most powerful weapons in the game when defeated, however the player can proceed to Kal Panning and the Two Rings without obtaining them. Clockwise from north, the bosses in the Fortress are the Guardian of Spectral Magic, the Guardian of Life Magic, the Guardian of Ice Magic, the Guardian of Fire Magic, and the Guardian of Shock Magic.

The monsters who roam this area also provide the final armour upgrade in the game.

Temple of Roo
The Temple of Roo is a two-story building in the centre of the Desert of Roo, in the west of the continent. It is home to Erick, who went mad after being trapped in the Temple, and on the second level, the Archmagus of Roo, a Blumaroo wizard boss. Erick can build the player a new weapon with help from Leirobas.

Two Rings
The Two Rings is an hourglass shaped mountain valley sealed by the Circle of Twelve with a spell. There only way into the valley is through a magically locked door in a tunnel at the south of the valley, the key to which is in the possession of Faleinn. The doorway is watched by the Two Rings Gatekeeper, a title that has been passed down through the generations. The doorway only allows people into the valley, they cannot leave.

During the time of the Great Empire, Jahbal lead the Circle of Twelve against Kal Panning when the city revolted against his rule. After the city was cursed and the siege ended, the other members of the Circle saw the error of their ways and decided to banish Jahbal. Jahbal got wind of their treachery, however, and escaped to the Two Rings Palace at the northern end of the valley. Unwilling to fight Jahbal on his own terms as they believed he could be hoarding magical artifacts in the palace, they instead cast the spell that shut the valley off from the rest of the world, turning Jahbal's safehouse into a prison.

Over time, Jahbal was able to extended his magical influence through the spell, and although he still couldn't leave, he was able to begin creating monsters outside of the valley and sent them to kill the Council Members of the cities of Neopia. Eventually, he produced so many monsters from his prison that the entire world was over-run and the Empire crumbled.

Two Rings Castle
This is the final dungeon in the game, containing Jahbal's most powerful minions, all of which are Chias. The Palace has three levels, but monsters only appear on the lower two. The top level holds Jahbal, the final boss of a Normal game. On the Evil difficulty, after fighting Jahbal the player immediately encounters Mastermind, and on iNsAnE difficulty, after fighting Mastermind, the player immediately encounters Xantan Reborn.

Curse of Maraqua is a Plot which took place between March 15, 2005 and June 10, 2005, revealing the long time dormant world of Maraqua. The plot follows the path of Garin, a pirate who stumbled across the long lost land.

==Plot summary=prompted by Jacques, that he will help her with her new visions of a danger approaching Maraqua.

User participation
Users were given the option to help Maraqua or the pirates during the attack in two ways. One form of participation, Battler, involved fighting against Maraqua or the pirates in the Battledome. The other, Supporter involved acquiring certain items to assist the battlers, and playing Maraquan themed games to acquire points

Battledome
Those who joined Maraqua fought the pirates, and vice versa. Also, depending on the strength of the users selected Neopet (which was the only one which could fight in the war), only certain ranked opponents would award the user with points. Opponents could be fought an infinite number of times, but with each in the opponent became progressively stronger.
Prizes
Prizes were released on June 14, 2005. A 7th item was available for both sides, the Maraquan Sidebar. Four exclusive Avatars were also released, only one of which could be acquired depending what the user did during the war.

Trophies were also awarded to users showing who they fought for, were a Battler or Supporter, how many points they collected and their rank.

Meridell is a medieval land of knights, kings and magic from Neopia's past. It was discovered by a group of unlikely adventurers - Lisha and her friends - somewhat by accident as part of the Champions of Meridell plot. The region encompasses the Kingdom of Meridell, Brightvale, and Darigan. Meridell is know for its great games, mostly involving vegetables, Faerie Quests, Ultimate Bullseye, Mortog kissing, puzzles and other things.

The nation of Meridell has been involved in two wars, the first in the plot Champions of Meridell was the first Neopian war in which the players could choose either of the sides, and the second in the plot Battle for Meridell. This makes the Medieval World the most fought-over area on Neopia.

Meridell's colours are red, blue and gold. Meridell is ruled by King Skarl from the Meridell Castle, a large white, red and gold structure. The castle is defended by The Castle Defender, a Kougra warrior who acted as the war boss for the good side in the first Meridell war but did not appear in the second. An explanation for this is given in The Castle Defender TCG card, which describes it as "a powerful illusion, but just an illusion". Jeran is one of the leading knights of the kingdom.

Other Kingdoms
Darigan
Darigan Citadel, which floats in the air thanks to many engines of unknown mechanism, was once part of its own land of plenty, until King Skarl's knights stole a magical orb that kept the kingdom prosperous. The Citadel came to the Meridell region as part of the Champions of Meridell plot to wage war on King Skarl and his kingdom. During this time, the Citadel was ruled by Lord Darigan, who vanished at the end of the plot. Lord Kass took over in Lord Darigan's absence and waged a second war against Meridell from above as part of the Battle for Meridell plot, during which time it was know as Kass Citadel. Darigan returned and took back his kingdom in the course of the plot.

Attractions include the Darigan Toys shop and the Petpet Battledome, along with the fortress' many dungeons and the games that have developed in them.

Brightvale
Brightvale is an almost Utopian kingdom of scholars and fine arts ruled by King Skarl's brother King Hagan. The first glass windows came from this kingdom.

Main Article: Champions of Meridell

After the magical arrival of a group of school children back in time in Meridell Castle, the peace of the kingdom of Meridell, ensured by a legendary magic orb which kept the land around it prosperous, is threatened by the original owners of the device, the people of Darigan. After a massive war, Lord Darigan, in his sinister, floating citadel, reclaimed the orb and wrecked most of Meridell, devastating its attractions and taking over the Castle. However, when Lord Darigan went insane over the orb and tapped into its magic to turn himself into The Spectre of Lord Dairgan, an all-powerful weapon, it was left down to prisoner-turned-escapee the Yellow Knight to rush to Meridell and explain the situation to General Galgarroth, who led Darigan's army with Meridell's surviving defences in a strike against the power-crazed Lord to stop him before he took over all of Neopia. After his defeat, Darigan disappeared, and the orb, which he had taken to wearing as a necklace, cracked in two to be shared between the realms.

Battle for Meridell
Main Article: Battle for Meridell

Lord Kass took over rule of the Citadel through threats and bribery, disposing of those who apposed him, and then started a campaign of propaganda against King Skarl and Meridell. This culminated in an invasion of the land the citadel floated over, with the castle's weakness to air-based attacks was exploited, as noted by the Meridell Castle TCG card.

In Meridell during this time, Lord Darigan had surfaced. He had lost almost all his memories and was completely mad, stalking farmer's fields as The Bat-Thing, until he took up lodging for a short while in a barn, fed by a little Usul girl.

This invasion was more effective that the previous as Lord Kass used the powers of his enchantress Morguss to first stop King Skarl ordering the defence of his border (by enchanting him with the dance of Morguss's daughter) and possessing Meridell's own peasants to fight what little forces had been sent to the front. Kayla's own magical efforts allowed, once Skarl had been disenchanted, an effective Meridell counterattack to Kass's large war machines.

During this time, the farm Lord Darigan had taken as his housing was raided, and when he fought off several soldiers to protect the Usul that had helped him, the guards' reactions prompted him to remember who he was, and he flew off to the Citadel, silhouetted by the moon.

A second counterattack, lead by Jeran, attacked the Citadel itself from the air. However, this sneak attack was met by a well prepared Lord Kass, and despite their only being a skeleton force on the Citadel itself, the attack quickly dispatched, Jeran himself plunging over the side of the floating fortress. Lord Darigan arrived shortly after, to Lord Kass' horror, and they sparred, Lord Kass determined to fix the "mistake" of Lord Darigan being left alive, but Lord Darigan won over and Kass fell to the floor, where his amulet smashed and The Three stole him away for his failure.
