The JubJub is a Neopet, and one of the original lineup of pets to adopt when Neopets went public. Throughout its varying colours, it is in essence a ball of fluff with a pair of orange feet. JubJubs are shy, secretive creatures who are scared easily, and prefer to keep to themselves. They aren't aggressive, but can defend themselves with a deafening screech when threatened. And while they are small, they can run or roll at an amazing speed.

Because of their small size, they are often mistaken for plants and vegetables, and this confusion is made all the more difficult with the fact they can be painted into various food items: like garlic, strawbery etc. Also, even though they don't have any hands they make do with using their feet in place of their hands, which is an easy task with their opposable toes.

It was questioned if Fuzzles are baby versions of the JubJub, but this has been disproven in a Help File, stating that Fuzzles are toys, and not Neopets.

The JubJub was originally called the JibJib, and has since been renamed "JubJub" on August 23, 2000. It is believed the JubJub attained its current name from the beast called the JubJub Bird in the Lewis Carroll poem, Jabberwocky.

Overview
The JubJub is like a creature called a "tribble", and it shares some colours with the Kiko.

Colours
As of June 2009, JubJubs come in 46 different colours:
Trivia
*As of March 2010, JubJubs are placed 7th in popularity with over 10.4 million in existence in Neopia.
*A new look to the JubJub was given on June 6, 2006.
*In the Neopets TCG, JubJubs are associated with the element of Air.
*On October 3, 2007, a Neovision Mini-Show was released, showing a yellow JubJub using many different Battledome Equipment items (notably the Battle Duck, Little Timmy's Slingshot, Bony Grarrl Club, Sword Of Skardsen, Wand of the Dark Faerie, and Ghostkerbomb) without any visiable hands, and use of mechanical ones, and obvious joke to the fact the JubJub has no hands.
*JubJubs are in no way related to Fuzzles. Fuzzles are NOT Baby JubJubs.
|}A Paint Brush is a special item which gives the user the ability to change the colour of one of their Neopets. Paint Brushes were originally found by Random Events, which means they can be bought from other user's shops or Auctions, and are also given away as prizes from Contests. Special Paint Brushes can also be bought in the Hidden Tower, and newer plots also allow users to buy Paint Brushes with the points they collected from participating (the first plot to do this was the Lost Desert Plot, which rewarded the Lost Desert Paint Brush for 70,000 points). There are also Petpet paint brushes, which change the colour of a Petpet.

In addition to providing new colours for Neopets, some paint brush colours seem more costume-like and fanciful, such as Halloween, Plushie and Tyrannian. Some paint brushes are rarer than others, but aside from the no-trade starter brushes, they all rank expensive items.

To use a paint brush on a Neopet, a proper paint brush colour scheme must be available for the chosen Neopet, then the user must go to the Rainbow Pool, where its waters allow the brushes' magic to work. Using just a paint brush on a Neopet or going to the Rainbow Pool will not change the colour of the Neopet, as both must be used in conjunction for the magic to work. A Paint brush can only be used once, and after using it on a Neopet, it will disappear.
Non-Paint brush Painting
Paint brushes can change a pet into most of its available colours, but not necessarily all. Some of the more elaborate colours are only available via the Lab Ray: robot, clay, and MSP being examples of such. Any colour (except Royal, Pirate and Baby) can be given by the lab ray without need of a paint brush. Additionally, there is no Mutant paint brush; the only away of obtaining a mutant pet is to feed it a transmogrification potion, or to get it through the lab.

Often, morphing potions are available to change a Neopet into a different species and/or colour, which are, for some of the more popular combinations, a much cheaper option that a paint brush.

Retired Paint Brushes
Very rarely, a paint brush colour is retired. The paint brushes become unusable (and in the case of the Unicorn brush, disappear completely) and pets painted the retired colour no longer remain it, but may be changed to a newer version. An example of this occurred on the 8th of January, 2002, when the Glass Paint Brush was retired, and replaced with the Tyrannian Paint Brush. Some of the glass pets were turned into the newer Tyrannian versions (the Shoyru was one of the first Tyrannian Pets), while the others remained as glass pets as a Tyrannian version was being made for each of them. The list of retired brushes is:

*Unicorn (vanished completely)
*Glass (retired item)
*Stone (retired item)

Note that, if the actual paint brush (as an item) is retired, it does not always mean it cannot be used. Paint brushes such as the Lost Desert Paint Brush, the Faerie Paint Brush, the Gold Paint Brush, and others are retired, but may still be used and The Neopets Team continue to make these these designs available for new species.

Petpet Paint Brush
A Petpet Paint Brush is designed for painting Petpets a specific colour. They work much in the same way as a Paint Brush for Neopets - they are used at the Petpet Puddle, akin to the Rainbow Pool, to paint a Petpet attached to a user's Neopet.

Interestingly, many colours that Neopets cannot obtain with a Paint Brush, only with alternative means such as via the Secret Laboratory, are available as a Paint Brush for Petpets, such as Robot or Mutant colours.
