Altador Cup VI is the sixth Altador Cup tournment. It is scheduled to begin in July of 2011.

Team Bios
In the weeks leading up to the Cup, TNT slowly released information on each team. These included fun facts, humorous jokes, and quotes from players:

::Brightvale: Brightvale Seeks Statistical Advantage-After years of poor showings, Brightvale put their land's scholarly expertise to use. "We've brought in a statistical guru," defender Montecito explained, "who's crunched the numbers to give us an idea of what a player will do in a certain situation. Take, for instance, Volgoth from Mystery Island. 84% of the time he runs right over you and 9% of the time he passes. The other 7% of the time he gets distracted by something shiny in the crowd."
::Darigan Citadel: Comic Relief Key to Darigan's Success?-Considering their team's fearsome nature, it may be hard to believe Darigan's players are avid practical jokers. "Frein's the worst one," forward Tandrak Shaye revealed. "He got his nickname, 'The Terror,' long before playing Yooyuball. You learn quick with that one -- if you need something from the kitchen, you'd best take your food with you, or else it will be tampered with. Make no mistake, however -- we're all business out on the field."
::Haunted Woods Mind Over (Brain) Matter-"If you'd asked me a year ago if a zombie could play Yooyuball, I would've said you were crazy," said Team Captain Krell Vitor. "Playing with Brains last year really opened my eyes. Sure, he's not fast and he hasn't got a head for strategy, but you'll never find a player with more tenacity and dedication." So what is the secret of Brains Mortigan's success? His teammates tell him the Yooyu is a tasty brain before every play.
::Kiko Lake: No Kicking Back in Kiko Lake-Right Forward Meela Kitah shared with us a Kiko Lake success story: "None of us are millionaires, and our community has never been excited about Yooyuball, so it was a real struggle getting to the Cup. Our first year, Poke got a job with Health Frog Groceries delivering door to door, Holbie helped out in his uncle's antique shop, and I sold newspapers. Anything so we could go to the Cup. Playing in the Colosseum is a dream come true."
::Krawk Island: Catching Up with "Dasher" Soley-Krawk Island's "Dasher" Soley may have hung up his sling, but that doesn't mean this Yooyuball legend hasn't been busy. When asked what he's been up to lately, "Ol' Dash" replied, "Oh, you know... anything to keep me competitive juices flowin'. I enjoy a good game of Armada from time to time, plus I've been teachin' me Blurtle, Go-Go, to play Deckball. Other than that, though... *sigh*... just a lot of waiti-I mean, whittling. I love to whittle."
::Kreludor: Exclusive News from Kreludor-Team captain Derlyn Fonnet tells us she's become penpals with Haunted Woods player "Brains" Mortigan. "He's pretty witty," she admits, "and he's got great tips for Yooyuball. We're still very competitive, of course." Meanwhile, teammates Zenor and Qyldae spent a little too much time relaxing in the sun last month in Qasala and came back with terrible sunburns, but we hear they're recovering thanks to a few dozen Grape Slurpships.
::Lost Desert: Lost Desert Gets a Shot of New Blood-The saying goes "If it isn't broken, don't fix it," so why would Team Lost Desert tinker with a winning formula? "Lamelle was a great asset to our team, but he said the desert was just too dry for a Kiko," said Vonde Cayle in a recent interview. "We wish him the best and are looking forward to working with our new teammate." Who will Lost Desert's new Right Defender be? A plucky young Ruki? A tough Tonu? We'll have to wait and see when the Altador Cup kicks off!
::Maraqua: Behind the Scenes with Maraqua-Approaching Maraqua's locker room, the first sound you hear is the clatter of smashing dishes. "What's this?" a voice booms. "An Ocean Delight Salad?! Even a casual fan would know I always have Spicy Radish Salad for my pre-game meal! And you? The match is about to start, and my sling's Maractite casing is nowhere near being polished to my standard. GAAAHHH! I'm surrounded by buffoons!" Maybe now isn't the best time to meet your favourite player?
::Meridell: Golden Opportunities in Meridell-The Meridell team has been busy this year. Captain "Wizard" Windelle organised a charity ball for Faerieland, raising Neopoints from Meridell's nobility, while Fiorina and Ilsa sponsored a junior Yooyuball league in their hometown of Meri Acres. "It's so much fun to give back to the community," Fiorina tells us. In sadder news, Gregorio sprained his tail in the Battledome, but he is expected to make a full recovery in time for the Cup.
::Moltara: An Extra Spring in Their Step-Yooyuball teams are always on the lookout for a way to get a leg up on their competition, and the team from Moltara may have found one! "Tangor approached us recently about making some gear for the team," said Mor Gollog. "There was talk of spring-loaded slings and even a steam-powered jetpack. In the end, though, we decided it was best to rely on our own natural abilities. Having our loyal fans cheer us on is the greatest advantage we can have!"
::Mystery Island: Nuts About Mystery Island-Forward Bertie Shurtz and defender Vela Binal have been promoting coconut awareness all over Mystery Island this year. "Coconuts are an important part of the ecology on the island," Bertie tells us. "We don't give them enough credit." Earlier this year, Teylore Nix went home to help out with the family business, sailing tourists to and from Mystery Island, but he promises he's back to training hard and will be ready for the Cup.
::Roo Island: A Sticky Situation-What can a Yooyuball team do when their shipment of practice Yooyus never arrives? Well, if they're Team Roo Island, they turn to gummies! "I was doubtful at first," said team captain Lilo Blumario, "but King Roo spared no expense and even had the Chocolate Factory rig up an exploding gummy Yooyu to mimic the clockwork Yooyus." The only downside? "We just have to keep Gordo Gunnels from eating the gummy Yooyus before practice is over."
::Shenkuu: Looking to the Skies-Every Yooyuball fan has their own way of guessing how well their favourite team will do in the Altador Cup, but none has a method as unique as that of the Wise Old Gnorbu at the Lunar Temple. He lets Kreludor guide him! "It's a very intricate system," the Gnorbu claims. "I noticed that our Yooyuball team performs better when Kreludor is waning, so I make my friendly wagers accordingly." Well, it makes as much sense as reading tea leaves or flipping a coin, doesn't it?
::Terror Mountain: Terror Mountain Seeks to Raise Support-"It's a vicious cycle," defender Rinok Fitel explained. "The trip to Altador's difficult, so not many fans make it. Less support puts the team at a disadvantage, so then we don't play as well, which discourages fans even more." This offseason the team's tried plenty of ways to break the cycle. "We've reached out to the fans with lots of promotion and did a toy drive with Donny's Repair Shop to help with travel costs. We're doing all we can."
::[Team Tyrannia|Tyrannia]]: Toughing It Out in Tyrannia-"Scrap" Taggert says that his team looks forward to playing in the Altador Colosseum again. "For our home games, we use the Grarrl Keno Bowl, so we have to take everything down whenever there's a hatching. It's a lot of work." Team captain Loryche says Tyrannia plans to bring a stronger game than ever to the Cup and admits that Tyrannia held recruitment drives earlier this year, but there is no word yet of any roster changes.
::Virtupets: Gearing Up with Virtupets Space Station-Team captain Keetra Deile tells us that her team is training with the Ogrin Master. Meanwhile, Weldar Xupenfarb has signed a sponsorship deal with Kacheek and Sons Landscaping, who announced that they have big plans for Space Station facilities. We also heard that XL Striker 3.8 went in for a complete chassis overhaul and had this to say: "This Striker unit is now fully upgraded with the latest virtual adrenaline technology. Game on."
Game on."
One of the most highly coveted players in the free agent class of 2006, Lilo turned down many huge offers to sign with his native Roo Island squad. Though lacking strength and jumping ability, Lilo is high-scoring forward who performs well under pressure. He also aids his team with his strong leadership.
The Altador Cup is a yearly gaming plot on Neopets which begins on June 1, and continues until the championship is finished. As a sporting event, eighteen teams as 2010 from the lands of Neopia gathered in Altador to compete in the sport of Yooyuball for the Altador Cup trophy. During the inaugural Altador Cup, the tournament took place between June 1, 2006 and August 4. During the second Altador Cup, the plot lasted from June 1, 2007 to July 9. The third annual Altador Cup commenced on June 12, 2008 and ended on July 17. The fourth annual Altador Cup commenced on June 2, 2009, and ended on July 5th, 2009.
Yooyuball
The game played to win the Altador Cup is called Yooyuball. Gameplay appears to be based on jai alai and lacrosse, where players carry a ball in a sling and charge down the field, trying to throw the ball into the other team's net to score a goal. The ball is actually a rolled up Petpet called a Yooyu, a creature native to Altador. There are a variety of different Yooyus used in the game, which gives the sport an unpredictable twist, requiring a team to alter its strategy depending on the type of Yooyu currently in play.

*Normal - The most common Yooyu which behaves like a normal ball of play without any extra effects. This Yooyu was added during the second Altador Cup. This Yooyu was added in the 2007 games.
*Fire - A very fast Yooyu, it moves in a straight line and must be transferred very quickly between team-mates, because keeping it too long could result in burns.
*Snow - Much slower than the Normal Yooyu, the Snow Yooyu also moves in a straight line. It freezes the muscles of those playing with it, making game play quite slow.
*Mutant - Leading to an extremely unpredictable game, the Mutant Yooyu will move in numerous, random patterns, such as beginning to curve at different points in the throw, changing speed, and only rarely shooting in a straight line.
*Faerie - Floating lightly through the air, the Faerie Yooyu curves in flight and leaves players wondering when it will drop down low enough for them to capture and pass it.
*Darigan - A misbehaving Yooyu which flies in a different direction the player holding it is facing, the Darigan Yooyu's flight can be predicted based on where a player is facing in the area. This Yooyu was added in the 2007 games.
*Clockwork - The Clockwork Yooyu is a wind-up robotic toy that will begin to glow red and explode between 1 - 15 seconds if it isn't put into a goal. This Yooyu was added in the 2007 games.

Yooyuball plays as a flash game, where users can play with use of the mouse and keyboard. Before each game of Yooyuball begins, users choose the formation they want their players to stand in and select which direction they would like to move the ball down the field. Using the mouse, users point at the player they want to move around, which will select the player. The selected player can be guided around the field using the mouse. When a player has possession of the ball, clicking the left mouse button throws the ball.

If a user wanted to deselect a player, they pressed the space bar or the S key. When none of the players were selected, they can clicked anywhere on the field to move the closest player to the position they clicked on. To toggle between players, users press the left and right arrow keys (or the A and D keys). Users can activate a player when toggling between them by pressing the space bar. Pressing the Shift key to moves players back to their starting positions.

A new rule was added on June 24, 2006, which would make the Yooyu jump from a Keeper's hands if it stayed there longer than 5 seconds. It is believed this was implemented because too many users were scoring a single goal then letting the Keeper hold onto the ball for the remainder of play, scoring an automatic win.

Between each goal, a cutscene is played, showing either the goal, the crowd, or - added in 2007 - the Yooyuball selection machines beneath the arena. While the cutscene is playing, game time is still used up, but a 'continue' button appears after a short delay allowing the user to skip most of the animation. An animation accompanies the introduction of each Yooyu to the field, also, but this can be skipped using the space bar.
For the first four years, the Altador Cup Tournament consisted of sixteen teams representing the lands of Neopia. Following the introduction of Shenkuu, one team sat out each year to keep the numbers even, until the discovery of Moltara allowed a full roster of eighteen teams to play in Altador Cup V. Users could only support one team at a time, and could only switch between teams in the first competition, between rounds.

The first team to cancel participation was Kreludor for Altador Cup II - in a statement by Derlyn Fonnet, this was due to a malfunctioning gravity generator leading to reduced "muscle and bone" density. The following year they returned to the competition, but Kiko Lake could not participate due to travel issues. Brightvale was unable to participate in Altador Cup IV as King Hagan thought it would make the country harder to govern.

An additional team is available each year as the practice team, from Jelly World. While the members of the team are unknown, it's known the Goalkeeper is a Jelly Kougra and the forwards a Jelly Kau and Usul.

So far Lutari Island has not participated in any of the Altador Cups, though two Lutari have.

Slushie Slinger
Added in the 2007 games, Slushie Slinger is an game users could play for lower points besides playing Yooyuball. Users play the role of a Red Tuskaninny waitress at the Slushie Concession Stand, and must serve impatient fans (Red Nimmo, Purple Tonu, Yellow Ogrin, etc.) their slushies while Yooyuball games play. Depending on what team the user joined, the Slushie Concession Stand would be the team's official slushie stand. Players would lose a life every time an empty slushie bottle falls to the floor or if the customers reach the end of the counter.
Make Some Noise
Added in the 2007 games, Make Some Noise is an game users could play for lower points besides playing Yooyuball. Assuming the role of the Techo Fanatic, users must cheer as loud as they can by tapping two randomly chosen keys together, raising the sound meter, for as long as they can in 30 seconds, then (though this is not necessary) pressing the spacebar before the time runs out. Depending on what team the user joined, the Techo Fanatic would be seen wearing that teams shirt, and cheering for them.
Shootout Showdown
Shootout Showdown is a new game in the 2009 games. You take control of a Yooyuball player, trying to score goals against the opponents Keeper. The aim is to score 5 goals as quickly as possible, within 60 seconds, without missing or letting the keeper save your shots.

Plot participation
:Main Articles: Altador Cup 2006, Altador Cup 2007, Altador Cup 2008, Altador Cup 2009, Altador Cup 2010

Unlike regular plots where the plot was written by The Neopets Team, the plot was directed by the collective users on Neopets, and how well they played together in each of their selected teams. A plot summary was written after play to act out who won in each cause. Also, each year had their own methods of participation, and how the plot would progress.

Staff Tournament
As another part of the Altador Cup, The Neopets Team participates in a tournament play of their own. They did this in 2006, and only again in 2010.

Along with the release of the Altador Cup on June 1, 2006, a new Shop called Altador Cup Souvenirs opened, which sold sports team merchandise for each of the teams playing. Rather than Altador Cup Tournament items have a single use, they can be used for many different things. Hands and bottles are used as toys, pennants can be placed in Neohomes, and the jerseys are Clothes.
Trivia
*The first Altador Cup appeared to coincide with dates and times of the FIFA World Cup in Germany of 2006, and the golden orb, seen in the preview trailer, of the trophy bore a remarkable resemblance to the actual World Cup.
*Noted advertisements shown in North America within the 2006 tournament were a new Dragon Ball Z game being released in July 2006 and a new Garfield movie. For 2007, Evan Almighty was advertised.
*During Yooyuball game play when the Ixi and Grarrl news presenters are making their remarks about the teams, were a user to refrain from clicking the "continue" button, they would begin to ask the user to carry on, mention they see Tarla and need to hurry and catch her or reminding the user that sitting and watching them does not earn them points. A Spyder may also come down from the ceiling.
*Because there used to be 17 possible Altador Cup teams, and only 16 spots available for participating, every year, TNT had to choose one team to not participate, and choose a clever reason for it. The addition of Moltara City in 2010 made for an even total of 18 and thus no team was left out on the sidelines.
*Coincidentally, from 2006 to 2009, the winning team for each year's Altador Cup was the runner-up team for the previous tournament.
*Each of the 54 Neopet species is represented by at least one Yooyuball player.

Roo Island's Yooyuball team consists of also-rans and inexperienced rookies, but received a huge boost when Lilo Blumario, one of the game's top players, decided to take a pay cut and sign up with his hometown club. In what was considered improbable and the biggest story of Altador Cup 2006, Roo Island managed to reach Round 3 of the tournament, being defeated by Darigan Citadel and placing as number four. After a voting of fans and players that Roo Island had the ugliest jersey, fans hoped to do even better this past tournament, with a new uniform and the team's signing of Maraquan forward Jair Tollet, who was traded to Roo Island for Dayla, the red Lenny (She got injured in the first practice and never played again). This helped Roo Island make it to the final match, losing to Darigan Citadel, and overall placing in second.

Third time proved to be the charm, when in 2008, Roo Island beat Krawk Island in the Altador Cup final, claiming the cup. In 09, however, Roo Island placed ninth, giving them the record of farthest place difference between cups after winning, as Darigan Citadel and Haunted Woods both placed seventh the tournaments after they won. In 2010, Roo Island was questioned for making no changes to their lineup in the offseason. However, though a pedestrian start first half, they kicked it up a notch before the mid-season break by winning 16 of the last 19 matches. This catapulted them up to 4th place going into the finals. Kreludor was able to sneak out a victory in the first round, and Darigan Citadel defeated them in the second round, leaving 4th place to Roo Island.
Able to befuddle defenders with torrents of crisp passes and a labrynth of picks and blocks, Kreludor has been known to take their more talented opponents and tie them in knots.

In the 2007 Altador Cup, Kreludor did not participate. They were replaced by Shenkuu, but returned in 2008 replacing Kiko Lake. Although storming the competition in 09', going into the bracket as the top seed, they had to settle for fourth after defeats from Shenkuu and the Lost Desert.
During the Altador Cup V Kreludor was a top contender and though they entered the finals in 1st, they left in 2nd.
Team captain Derlyn Fonnet tells us she's become penpals with Haunted Woods player "Brains" Mortigan.
Kiko Lake's Yooyuball team is a strong contender, but entered 2006 with a lot to prove, due to the injury of Helmo Timm, the flashy (yet erratic) play of goalkeeper Ditan Colb, and their superstar defender Meela Kitah coming off the worst year of her career. Not making it past the first round, fans hoped for a surprise in 2007, similar to that of Roo Island's team, though many believed they wouldn't make it past the Round-Robin Phase. With the addition of forward Moni Vyshan, they hoped the team would be more competitive than the previous year's.

En route to AC III, they were sidelined by a rock slide. Kiko Lake entered AC IV with a drastic lineup change fans thought would help them a lot. Although this new line-up beat Maraqua in the first game which led to be a confidence booster, they later fell from grace and into the final bracket being beaten by Terror Mountain, placing them 14th. And after making no changes to their lineup in 2010 they were not expected to do much better. Though after beating expected centeder Shenkuu in game one, they didn't play well after leaving them in 16th place at the end of the finals.
Right Forward Meela Kitah shared with us a Kiko Lake success story: "None of us are millionaires, and our community has never been excited about Yooyuball, so it was a real struggle getting to the Cup. Our first year, Poke got a job with Health Frog Groceries delivering door to door, Holbie helped out in his uncle's antique shop, and I sold newspapers. Anything so we could go to the Cup. Playing in the Colosseum is a dream come true."

Darigan's Yooyuball team have few major weaknesses, although they have been criticized in the past for playing too easy a schedule during the regular season, and as a result are unprepared when the tournament comes. To fix this, Darigan Citadel relented and added more matches against a few of the better teams for the 2006 season. Due to this they didn't finish as high in the standings as they normally did, but it gave them the toughness to play in the games which mattered the most (or at least this is what the fans hoped). Their tactic paid off, and they managed to place 2nd in the Altador Cup, ending their reputation as post-season underachievers.

Rather than rest, however, the Citadel's team made an upgrade for the Goalkeeper, replacing the less-than-mobile Mungo Lifler with promising netminder Reshar Collifey for the 2007 season. And due to the success of the previous year's tactic, Darigan again faced a string of difficult teams for their regular schedule. Darigan was from the start considered the favourite of the 2007 Altador Cup, maintaining a position at the top of the leader-board for the round robin. In the finals it faced off against Roo Island's team and finally won the Cup on July 9th. However, they also fell to the curse of previous winner Haunted Woods and subsequent winner Roo Island to not be able to reach the standard again, placing seventh the following year and the year after that, although showing promise initially, placing seventh again after a round one loss to Mystery Island.

Coming into Altador Cup V, Darigan Citadel was favorite to win the Cup, so the expectations were high. Even though they were swept by Brightvale on day one, they roared back winning 15 of their next 17 games, soaring to the top of the standings. Ending the season with a record of 23-4-7, they were in 3rd place going into the finals, getting ready to face off against Lost Desert. Though they lost, they were able to beat Roo Island in round two to end the season with the bronze.
Fun Fact
Considering their team's fearsome nature, it may be hard to believe Darigan's players are avid practical jokers.
