Battledome Equipment refers to a collection of items used for the Battledome. Most of them can be equipped to a Neopet and used in battle. Generally, the better a weapon is, the more expensive. There are rare cases however, like the Bone Sceptre and Scarab Ring, when good items become very cheap because of a large supply or other reasons.

Battledome Equipment types
There are many different types of Battledome Equipment throughout Neopets, each coming from their own world a store.

Battle Magic
Battle Magic is the regular kind of battledome equipment. It can range anything from rotten vegetable weapons to Cheat! battlecards. Battle Magic is sold at the Battle Magic shop in Neopia Central (Neopian Bazaar.)

Defence Magic
...to be added...

Space Battle
...to be added...

Space Defence
...to be added...

Ice Crystal
Sold at Terror Mountain.

Tyrannian Weaponry
...to be added...

Desert Weapon
Can be found at Lost Desert or play and win the prize of Qasalan Expellibox.

Meridell Potion
...to be added...

Haunted Weaponry
Found in the Deserted Fairground, this shop is run by a caped Scorchio. These weapons generally have a theme of fear or darkness.

Brightvale Armour
...to be added...

Brightvale Scroll
Brightvale scrolls are sold in the scrollery, they can either attack or defend depending on whether it is a defence scroll or not. Scrolls will usually cost something above 30k, however users may sell scrolls for only 2k so its recommended to check the Shop Wizard, auctions, and trading post in order to find the best deal.

Brightvale Potions
...to be added...

Faerie Weapon
...to be added...

Altadorian Magic
...to be added...

...to be added...

Wonderous Weaponry
Sold at Kentari's shop in Shenkuu (identified by a pair of crossed swords), these weapons are generally martial-arts-themed.

Battledome Equipment Terms
Different weapons are used certain ways in the battledome. There are different kinds of weapon types.

Multiple Use

Multiple use weapons are weapons that can be used over and over in a battle. These are the most common types of weapons and can be almost anything.

Fragile

Fragile weapons can be used the same way as multiple use weapons, but with a risk. Fragile weapons have a chance of breaking each time they are used in the battledome, and after breaking, it can never be used again. This often makes the weapon cheaper than multiple use weapons with the same power, since it has a risk of breaking. Different fragile items have different chances to break.

Semi-Fragile

Semi-fragile weapons are exactly like fragile weapons, except they break only for the remainder of the battle. After the battle is over, the semi-fragile weapon returns to the Neopets equipment page ready for another battle.

Once Per Battle

Once per battle weapons can only be used once per battle. They are often 100% freezing weapons, bomb weapons, or a healing weapon.

Single Use

Single use weapons can be used once in the battledome and then disappear forever. These are most often bombs or elixirs from the Healing Springs.

Healing

Surprisingly, not all items that heal are considered healing items. A battledome rule is that only one healing item may be equipped. Most really effective healing items are considered a healing item. Some equipment that is intended to be used mainly as a weapon also heals a bit. These weapons do not necessarily take up the "healing item" spot.

User terms
Besides official weapon types, there are terms that battledomers often use to describe weapons, pets, etc.

Bomb

A bomb is a single use or once per battle item that does large amount of damage. For most Neopians, these are snowballs. There are other bomb weapons too, such as muffins, Battlecards, Clockwork Grundos, the Honey Potion, and the Ghostkerbomb. Bombs are generally used after freezing an opponent to guarantee maximum damage.

Freezer

A freezer is an item that freezes an opponent. A freezing item is an important part of every serious battledomers set. Freezers guarantee a turn where the fight doesn't have to worry about defending and can focus on launching an all out, hopefully devastating attack. 100% freezers are highly prized and usually sell for millions of NP. There is a battledome rule where only one freezing item can be equipped to a pet.

Stealer

A stealer is an item that will take the weapon in the opponent's first slot. For this reason, many 2-Player battlers place their least important weapon in their first slot, and 1-Player opponents usually have junk items in their first slot. Some items, such as Tornado Ring, may multi-steal, or steal multiple items in one battle, although these are typically very expensive. If the item stole from the first slot is once per battle/one use, and the opponent has already used it up, they will still get it back. The battledome rule indicates that only one stealer can be equipped per battle.

Dual Duty

A dual duty is an item that both attacks and defends. Dual duties are usually used in lower stat Battledome fights or by tanks. A few examples of dual duties would include: Scarab Ring, Portable Cloud, Dusty Magic Broom, Air Faerie Crown, and Mask of Coltzan.

Lab Rat

A lab rat is a pet with very high Hit Points, Movement, and Strength, and a very low Level and Defence. The Lab Ray typically raises Strength, Movement, and Hit Points and lowers Level and Defence, hence the name. These pets are usually given less respect than hand-trained pets because of the low cost and effort involved in making a lab rat.

League

Leagues are defined by the Neopian War Council League Calculator. Leagues range from League 1 to League 24. The term may be written as "L20" or "League 20" (for a League 20 pet). Leagues are usually the best way to evenly match up pets in 2-Player battles.
Loryche is a Yellow Chomby and the Centre Forward and Team Captain for Tyrannia's Yooyuball team of 2006 and 2007. For years, it was gossiped that Loryche was "lazy". She would sit out of training camp, wouldn't practice during the season, and barely made an effort to run the field unless she had the ball. Rather than give up on her, though, Tyrannia did the opposite and decided to run their entire offense through her. Once she got involved and saw how hard everyone was working, it inspired Loryche to get her act together, and eventually become the team captain. As a Forward, Loryche excels at passing, running plays, and leadership, yet has low speed and scoring ability.

Trivia
*As of 2009, Lorynche is the only Yooyuball player who is a Chomby.

*Loryche's sprite during gameplay shows here moving on two legs, but the image that appears when she scores a goal seems to show her standing on all fours and wielding a Yooyuball sling with her tail.
The Chiazilla is a gigantic Chia - a species who are usually noted for being short in stature - inspired by Godzilla. The Chiazilla supposedly roams the oceans, and has been viewed both as a protector and a predator of Maraqua. He receives annual offerings from its citizens, and was connected to a far past ruler of Mystery Island, who sent the Chiazilla off on an impossible quest accidentally.

A Paint Brush is a special item which gives the user the ability to change the colour of one of their Neopets. Paint Brushes were originally found by Random Events, which means they can be bought from other user's shops or Auctions, and are also given away as prizes from Contests. Special Paint Brushes can also be bought in the Hidden Tower, and newer plots also allow users to buy Paint Brushes with the points they collected from participating (the first plot to do this was the Lost Desert Plot, which rewarded the Lost Desert Paint Brush for 70,000 points). The recent addition of Key Quest to the site provided an additional method of gaining Paint Brushes by allowing players to win certain Paint Brushes as prizes, including the Biscuit, Camouflage, Cloud, Ghost, Glowing, Striped, Snow, Speckled, Starry and Tyrannian Paint Brushes. There are also Petpet paint brushes, which change the colour of a Petpet.

In addition to providing new colours for Neopets, some paint brush colours seem more costume-like and fanciful, such as Halloween, Plushie and Tyrannian. Some paint brushes are rarer than others, but aside from the no-trade starter brushes, they all rank expensive items.

To use a paint brush on a Neopet, a proper paint brush colour scheme must be available for the chosen Neopet, then the user must go to the Rainbow Pool, where its waters allow the brushes' magic to work. Using just a paint brush on a Neopet or going to the Rainbow Pool will not change the colour of the Neopet, as both must be used in conjunction for the magic to work. A Paint brush can only be used once, and after using it on a Neopet, it will disappear. The Rainbow Pool should not be confused with the Rainbow Fountain.

Non-Paint Brush Relations
Some worlds do not have a paint brush but are still related in some way to the world to fit in. These colors can be received by other means then painting.
Non-Paint Brush Painting
Paint brushes can change a pet into most of its available colours, but not necessarily all. Some colours are only available via the Lab Ray including Robot, Ice, Sponge, and MSP. Any colour (except Baby, Pirate, Plushie, Quiguki, Royal, and Usuki) can be given by the lab ray without need of a paint brush. Additionally, there is no Mutant Paint Brush; the only away of obtaining a mutant pet is for a player to use a Transmogrification Potion of the species he or she wants on the pet, or to get it through the lab or Rainbow Fountain. Players sometimes accidentally feed Potions to their pets, thinking they will get the colour or species change but only using it on the pet gets the desired effect.

Often, Morphing Potions and Magical Plushies are available to change a Neopet into a different species and/or colour, and are, for some of the more popular combinations, a much cheaper option that a paint brush.

Additionally, all fruit/vegetable colours (other than Strawberry) can not be obtained with a Paint Brush. These are available with a Magical Chia Pop, through the Lab Ray, or the Rainbow Fountain. Chia Pops, with very few exceptions, only work on Chias. They will not turn a player's pet into a Chia.

With the exception of a few Chia fruit/vegetable colours, there are some colours that are available to only one or two pet species. Examples of this? No pet other than the Aisha can be "Alien," and Usuki paint brushes only work on Usuls and Quiggles.

Unusable Paint Brushes
Very rarely, a paint brush colour is retired. The paint brushes become unusable (and in the case of the Unicorn brush, disappear completely) and pets painted the retired colour no longer remain it, but may be changed to a newer version. An example of this occurred on the 8th of January, 2002, when the Glass Paint Brush was retired, and replaced with the Tyrannian Paint Brush. Some of the glass pets were turned into the newer Tyrannian versions (the Shoyru was one of the first Tyrannian Pets), while the others remained as glass pets as a Tyrannian version was being made for each of them. The list of retired brushes is:

*Unicorn (replaced by the Unicorn Gem, later renamed to the Uni Gem.)
*Glass (now the Tyrannian colour.)
*Stone (Retired.)
*Stars (now the Starry colour.)
*Shadowed (now the Shadow colour.)
*Jelly (The Jelly Paint Brush is a special case as it has never been made available and, most likely, never will be made available, even though it can be found in the item database.)

Note that, if the actual paint brush (as an item) is retired, it does not always mean it cannot be used. Paint brushes such as the Lost Desert Paint Brush, the Faerie Paint Brush, the Golden Paint Brush, and others are retired, but may still be used and The Neopets Team continue to make these designs available for new species.

Petpet Paint Brush
A Petpet Paint Brush is designed for painting Petpets a specific colour. They work much in the same way as a Paint Brush for Neopets - they are used at the Petpet Puddle, akin to the Rainbow Pool, to paint a Petpet attached to a user's Neopet.

Interestingly, many colours that Neopets cannot obtain with a Paint Brush, only with alternative means such as via the Secret Laboratory, are available as a Paint Brush for Petpets, such as Robot or Mutant colours.

As of September 2008, there are 38 different Petpet Paint Brushes...
Trivia
*On May 15th, 2002, the Baby colour won the first Paint Brush competition.
*The second Paint Brush competition between the Tartan, Mystery Island and Pirate colours went live on May 16th, 2002. Pirate won the majority with 194,375 total votes.
*There are three colours only available by using a Paint Brush: Royal, Usuki, and Quiguki. These colours are not available through the Rainbow Fountain or the Lab Ray.
*It is rumored that the lutari island paintbrush will be called the Tropical Paintbrush.
