Jahbal is the main antagonist in I. An Eyrie, Jahbal was the leader of the Circle of Twelve, the magical society that governed Neopia, until he went insane with power and began to wreck havoc on the world.

Jahbal lead the siege of Kal Panning, and cursed the city, turning its people and Faelinn into zombies. The Circle began to worry over Jahbal, and when he went to the Palace of the Two Rings, his apparent base of operations, a powerful enchantment was set into place to ensure he could never come out. While Jahbal may have been confined, his evil was not, and his magic began to bleed through the boundaries and stir creatures into monsters to savage the lands.

He is the final boss for those playing in Normal Mode, but is followed immediately by the Mastermind for those playing Evil and Insane modes. Jahbal has 700 HP, is level 50 and can perform 90 HP fire, ice and shock attacks, and stun for up to three rounds.

Settlements
Neopia City
Neopia City is where the player begins. It is in the north east of the Ancient Neopia. It is the home of Eleus Batrin, Boraxis the Healer, Choras Tille, Lummock Sendent, and Morax Dorangis. This is where the player can pick up their first sets of armour and alternate basic wands. After retrieving Xantan's Ring, Eleus will be able to craft the player their next wand. If the player returns here with the Rusty Medallion, Eleus will suggest taking it to Gali Yoj in Sunny City.

Swamp Edge City
Swamp Edge City is in the north west of the Ancient Neopia continent. It is home to Mokti and Leirobas, who will provide you with a Dawnshine Generator Shield or Sorcerous Robe in return for biological samples. It was also the home of Rikti before he became trapped in Dank Cave. Leirobas will also provide a Jewel of Power for Erick in the Temple of Roo to make the player a new weapon.

Sunny City
Sunny City is set high up in the Techo Mountains in the south west of the continent. The weather is always sunny as it is above the cloud cover. Gali Yoj, Eleus Batrin's former teacher, lives here, and will tell the player about Kal Panning and the Two Rings, and will clean Rollay Scaleback's medallion so that it may be used against Faleinn.

Kal Panning
Kal Panning is a city set on an island in the south east of the Ancient Neopia continent. Once prosperous, after the Great Empire split into two factions it was the site of a great battle. The Circle of Twelve laid siege to the city for a month. Both sides used powerful sorcerers against each other, but eventually the Circle of Twelve's wizards cursed their enemy such that the city itself rose up and attacked its people. It left the city as a haunted ruin, infested with its undead citizens, including their leader Faleinn.

When the player first reaches it, it is in ruins. However, once the player has defeated Faleinn, it is restored to its former splendour, and Faleinn herself returns as a ghost and explains how Jahbal was deposed and sealed in the Two Rings. By defeating her, the player obtains the key needed to enter the Two Rings and complete the game.

Dungeons
Dank Cave
Dank Cave is north west of Neopia City. It has four levels. Rikti has been trapped on the second level, and tells the player of Xantan the Foul, the monster who resides on the fourth. The player uses Xantan's ring to obtain a superior weapon from Eleus Batrin.

Jungle Ruins
The Jungle Ruins are south east of Neopia City. Centuries ago, it was a biological research lab, where Korabric's team used magic to analyse and create life. They created the jungle which eventually overgrew the facility. It is overrun with monsters, including a tribe of pygmies the scholars had brought in to study. Korabric and his team were able to contain the pygmies until one of the scholars - Rollay - went mad and started using the research to his own ends, creating an army of lizards in the caves underneath the building.

The only original members of the team left in the ruins are Korabric - who locked himself at the top of the Ruins' tower - and Rollay - who since his experiments began has mutated himself into a lizard-man, and is found on the lowest basement of the building. There are also two pygmy bosses - Kreai and Gors the Mighty - in the basement levels above Rollay.

Scattered about the Ruins there are three members of an archaeological expedition - Margoreth, he pupil Tylix, and their expedition leader Denethrir. Denethrir resides in the library on the first floor of the Ruins' tower, which is free from monsters, where he studies the Gaia Wands. Also on Rollay's level is Pomanna, a Kiko who came to the Ruins in time to see Rollay building his hoards.

Techo Caves
The Techo Caves is a warren of tunnels that run through the Techo Mountains in the south west of Neopia. They permit access to Sunny City and the Mountain Fortress, and allow passage to the south east part of the continent. Mr. Irgo resides near the beginning of the caves, and can build the player new armour in returns to black market body parts obtained off the monsters in the cave.

There are seven caves, only one of which is a dead end.

Mountain Fortress
Located in the Techo Mountains, Mountain Fortress has five halls, with a boss in each one. Each boss - Elemental Guardians - is associated with a different element of magic. They drop the most powerful weapons in the game when defeated, however the player can proceed to Kal Panning and the Two Rings without obtaining them. Clockwise from north, the bosses in the Fortress are the Guardian of Spectral Magic, the Guardian of Life Magic, the Guardian of Ice Magic, the Guardian of Fire Magic, and the Guardian of Shock Magic.

The monsters who roam this area also provide the final armour upgrade in the game.

Temple of Roo
The Temple of Roo is a two-story building in the centre of the Desert of Roo, in the west of the continent. It is home to Erick, who went mad after being trapped in the Temple, and on the second level, the Archmagus of Roo, a Blumaroo wizard boss. Erick can build the player a new weapon with help from Leirobas.

Two Rings
The Two Rings is an hourglass shaped mountain valley sealed by the Circle of Twelve with a spell. There only way into the valley is through a magically locked door in a tunnel at the south of the valley, the key to which is in the possession of Faleinn. The doorway is watched by the Two Rings Gatekeeper, a title that has been passed down through the generations. The doorway is a one-way entrance-once people go into the valley, they cannot leave.

During the time of the Great Empire, Jahbal lead the Circle of Twelve against Kal Panning when the city revolted against his rule. After the city was cursed and the siege ended, the other members of the Circle saw the error of their ways and decided to banish Jahbal. Jahbal got wind of their treachery, however, and escaped to the Two Rings Palace at the northern end of the valley. Unwilling to fight Jahbal on his own terms as they believed he could be hoarding magical artifacts in the palace, they instead cast the spell that shut the valley off from the rest of the world, turning Jahbal's safehouse into a prison.

Over time, Jahbal was able to extended his magical influence through the spell, and although he still couldn't leave, he was able to begin creating monsters outside of the valley and sent them to kill the Council Members of the cities of Neopia. Eventually, he produced so many monsters from his prison that the entire world was over-run and the Empire crumbled.

Two Rings Castle
The final dungeon of the game, containing Jahbal's most powerful minions, all of which are Chias. The Palace has three levels, but monsters only appear on the lower two. The top level holds Jahbal, the final boss of a Normal game. On the Evil difficulty, after fighting Jahbal the player immediately encounters Mastermind, and on iNsAnE difficulty, after fighting Mastermind, the player immediately encounters Xantan Reborn.
It's name is a portmanteau of devil and Angelpuss, the latter being its polar opposite.

Plot summaries
NeoQuest II
The player first hears of the Devilpuss from Vilaria, who explains that it destroyed the Bridge of Mist, the safest route to Faerieland. The Devilpuss itself - a former Angelpuss - is encountered in Cumulonimbus, the abandoned and ruinous city in the Underclouds of Faerieland. It must be defeated in order to get to the exit of the city and proceed through the Underclouds to the Village of Cirrus and on to Faerieland.

Battle Speeches
Opening Speech

Devilpuss zooms around the ruins of Cumulonimbus, cackling wildly. "Being an Angelpuss was fun, I admit," he says, "but being a Devilpuss is so much more fun! Nobody expects you to be sweet all the time, nobody insists that you keep your fur all white and clean..." He turns and gives you a fiendish look. "And nobody minds if you kill a few neopets now and then..." He zooms toward you and attacks!

Flee Speech

Devilpuss flies around, chuckling. "Go on, run away. I'll be here, and we can fight again. And won't that be fun!" he says, as you flee into the ruins.

Victory Speech

Living amongst the stars, the Space Faerie protects Neopia from threats from the depths of space, such as Dr. Frank Sloth. She very rarely visits the surface of Neopia, and will only do so in the case of an utmost emergency.

Among other acts of courage and compassion, she saved the Grundos from Dr. Sloth, and they subsequently became a regular species of Neopet with their own Adopt-a-Grundo section of the Virtupets Space Station. She is also featured as the mascot of Neopets Premium.

She is featured in a very rare Faerie Quest, which raises the level of one of the user's Neopets by 4 ranks.

The Space Faerie was instrumental to the plot. It began when she received a mysterious, coded message from the depths of space, and an overwhelming sense of evil. She made a rallying call to the population to be prepared, and her prophecy quickly came true as the massive bulk of the Space Station briefly eclipsed the sun.

After the message was decoded by the Island Mystic using many newly-released Codestones, revealing Dr. Sloth's true plan to mutate all the population of Neopia to enslave the planet, the Space Faerie gathered Neopians to scour the lands to find supplies to ready a space fleet at the Launch Pad.

The Space Faerie made a personal assault on the Space Station, seeking to liberate the Grundos that had been captured for Sloth's experiments. He had anticipated this and manage to capture her. Her struggles weakened her, and she was only barely able to send a broadcast to Neopia, requesting that the population adopt as many Grundos as possible. Doing so helped her regain her power.

Users managed to adopted the 20,000 needed Grundos just in time: as Dr Sloth fired his orbital mutation ray gun down to the planet, the Space Faerie blasted her way out of imprisonment and intercepted the mutagenic beam. To Sloth's disbelief, the faerie managed to divert the beam back into the weapon, which overloaded. The resulting explosion demolished the weapon, and Dr. Sloth went missing until the Lost Desert Plot.

The Space Faerie returned to the stars, and left the abandoned Space Station in orbit for Neopians to repopulate.

Balthazar is a Lupe bounty hunter who captures Faeries with magical bottles, selling them for huge profits. Balthazar was abandoned by his family on the edge of the Haunted Woods as a child. He crawled through the twisted forest hungry and thirsty until he came upon a clearing where the purple lights of Dark Faeries could be seen. Asking for help, they laughed started picking up stones and twigs, throwing them at Balthazar as he ran away yelping and crying. He somehow managed to survive in the woods after living many years alone, and he never forgot what the Faeries did to him that day.
It was believed Balthazar cast a spell with the Spider Grundo and Hubrid Nox (despite the fact they would never work together) which kept the sun up over the Haunted Woods. When Rohane and party come upon Balthazar at his grove, they find it bright and cheery unlike the rest of the Haunted Woods, and find Balthazar actually liking the presence of Faeries. After visiting The Brain Tree, Rohane finds out The Four Faeries which Balthazar claims are his friends placed a curse on him, and needed to be defeated.

After killing the Faeries, Balthazar and his grove return to normal, and assumes Hubrid Nox is behind his and the Spider Grundo's curse. When Rohane asked why he didn't come with them, he said he needed to take a bath to wash the smell of Faerie off him.

The clue for The Thief constellation was released on April 20th. To start, go to the Altadorian Archives where the Lenny Conundrum Lenny has now appeared standing behind a column. He tells you that Finneus is his uncle and would like you to take the Meepit Plushie from his office. Upon returning it, the Lenny says that this plushie is not his Uncle's favourite. After putting the plushie back, go to the main lobby and click the doorhandle of the door on the left. Once inside the Archives, click on the larger doors to move from room to room until you find that one of the small sidedoors is clickable. This door opens up to reveal a closet, inside is a box of replacement pink meepit plushies. After hiding this box in another closet, go back to the Archivist Office where Finneus will take out his favourite Meepit Plushie from a cabinet. Distract him by throwing a rock at a vase and once he turns around, take his favourite Meepit Plushie and return it to the Lenny Conundrum Lenny. After the Lenny accidentally rips the head off, click on the dagger that is found embedded in the plushie to reveal the pattern for The Thief constellation. Return the ripped plushie and head to the Observatory. When you find the constellation go back to the Astronomy Club, they will give you The Astronomy Club item.
Book of Ages - Chapter 9, The Thief
<blockquote>There is an old saying that it takes a thief to catch a thief. There is some truth to this old adage, as was proven by Kelland, the Techo thief...<br><br>
Born into a life of thievery, Kelland never questioned his role in society, much less whether what he did was right or wrong. Stealing was simply a part of his nature. One day, he watched as a tired Elephante collected his weekly wages, and headed down a dark, empty alley.<br><br>
Moments later, an Aisha jumped from a nearby rooftop, grabbed the Elephante's small coin purse, and escaped into the shadows, leaving the poor worker helpless. For the first time in his life, Kelland felt something stir inside of him. Was it sympathy?<br><br>

When he returned to the thieves' den later that night, Kelland saw the Aisha thief lounging about.<br><br>
Disgusted, Kelland walked past the Aisha, and using his great stealth, stole the coin pouch back. Quietly, the Techo returned to the streets, to where he had seen the Elephante sullenly trudge home. Kelland placed the pouch on the Elephante's doorstep and knocked, then leapt onto the roof. Below, he heard the door open, followed by a gasp of joy.<br><br>
The Elephante looked around, but saw no one. "Whoever returned this," he said into the cold night, "has my eternal gratitude. Thank you." He left a few of the coins on his doorstep and closed the door. Kelland dropped to the street and picked up the coins. He felt oddly fulfilled, something his life of crime had never brought him.<br><br>

From that moment on, the Techo used his skills for good whenever possible, doing his best to ensure that the working poor did not suffer from crime. Word soon spread about this reformed thief, and it wasn't long before a wise Lupe asked him to join his council, for light from darkness is a rare quality indeed.<br><br>
Lisha's older brother, Jeran is widely considered the greatest knight in the kingdom of Meridell. After the first war between Darigan and Meridell, Jeran continued to serve King Skarl and lived in peace with his long lost sister.
When he returned to the castle, he organized an aerial assault against Kass directly. Upon Darigan citedal, Jeran was thrown off the cliff when he defended Morris and Count Boris from Kass, who secretly followed him on the attack. He nearly fell to his death, but he was saved by Psellia and brought back to Meridell Castle.

A Neopet is virtual pet users raise and play with on Neopets. There are many different Neopets, and come in many shapes, sizes, and species, but they are all considered Neopets. As of CURRENTMONTHNAMEGEN CURRENTDAY CURRENTYEAR, there are currently 54 different species.

Neopet Care
For a user to care for a Neopet, they must make sure they are fed and happy.

Mood
A Neopets mood, being happy or sad, is changed by user actions around the website. There are nine levels of happiness, from least to most happy:

*Miserable
*Depressed
*Unhappy
*Content
*Happy
*Cheerful
*Extremely happy
*Joyful
*Delighted!

There are numerous ways to change a Neopets happiness, such as playing with a toy, grooming them, riding the Roo Island Merry Go Round or eating a Happy Negg. A Neopet's happiness is lowered should a user view the Quick Reference page while their Neopet is sick.

The only known effect of happiness occurs from a rare random event when a user's Neopet is unhappy. Should the Neopet be unhappy when it occurs, its color turns to Blue if really sad, or Red if angry.

While a Neopet's happiness doesn't effect gameplay and doesn't need to be changed, it's generally considered mean not to keep a Neopet happy.

Hunger
Just like real life creatures, Neopets become hungry over time, and must be fed to become full again. Neopets can be any of the following levels of fullness:

*Dying
*Starving
*Famished
*Very hungry
*Hungry
*Not hungry
*Fine
*Satiated
*Full up
*Very full
*Bloated
*Very bloated

Neopets can be fed with any food item, of which will lower its hunger (though it can sometimes be in the same state of hunger even when fed, which is random). Food is aquired with the Neopoints users gather. Should a user not have enough Neopoints to buy food for their Neopet, they can go to the soup kitchen which will feed a users Neopets if they have under 3000 NP. They can also gather food by going to Dailies, visit the Healing Springs which will sometimes make a users active Neopet bloated, or complete an Earth Faerie Faerie Quest which will make a random Neopet bloated. Also, Jetsams can eat Aquatic Petpets and Grarrls and Skeiths can eat <em>any</em> non-food items, allowing a user to save Neopets and other food items while feeding them items they don't want.

Unlike a Neopets mood, hunger has a direct affect on how Neopets is played, because Neopets who are hungry (or not hungry, if it shows up red) cannot fight in the battledome.

Neopet Lookup
Besides the species and colour of the Neopet, there are many other characteristics which can show the difference between each of them. Among all the statistics a Neopet can have, there are also those which can be raised in the Training School for use in the Battledome. Outside of the Battledome, these stats don't have much use, but as of late The Neopets Team have implemented a few of them into puzzle plots.
