Elon Hughlis is a Maraquan Acara and Right Forward and Team Captain of Maraqua's Yooyuball team in 2006 and 2007. Elon Hughlis is a tough high-scoring forward, playing well under pressure. He is known as "The Black Hole" because, once he gets the ball, players can forget about ever seeing it again. Though Hughlis is the team's leading scorer, it's because he never passes and takes too many shots, regardless of how many players are guarding him. Due to his attitude, his leadership is questioned among other players.

Trivia
*Elon Hughlis was awarded the Most Selfish Player award in the games of 2006, and nominated for the Biggest Whiner award.

The Altador Cup is a yearly gaming plot on Neopets which begins on June 1, and continues until the championship is finished. As a sporting event, sixteen teams from the lands of Neopia gathered in Altador to compete in the sport of Yooyuball for the Altador Cup trophy. During the inaugural Altador Cup, the tournament took place between June 1, 2006 and August 4. During the second Altador Cup, the plot lasted from June 1, 2007 to July 9. The third annual Altador Cup commenced on June 12, 2008 and ended on July 17. The fourth annual Altador Cup commenced on June 2, 2009, and ended on July 5th, 2009.

Overall Champions
Altador Cup I: Haunted Woods defeated Darigan<br>
Altador Cup II: Darigan defeated Roo Island<br>
Altador Cup III: Roo Island defeated Krawk Island<br>
Altador Cup IV: Krawk Island defeated Shenkuu<br>

Yooyuball
The game played to win the Altador Cup is called Yooyuball. Gameplay appears to be based on Jai alai and lacrosse, where players carry a ball in a sling and charge down the field, trying to throw the ball into the other team's net to score a goal. The ball is actually a rolled up Petpet called a Yooyu, a creature native to Altador. There are a variety of different Yooyus used in the game, which gives the sport an unpredictable twist, requiring a team to alter its strategy depending on the type of Yooyu currently in play.

*Normal - The most common Yooyu which behaves like a normal ball of play without any extra effects. This Yooyu was added during the second Altador Cup. This Yooyu was added in the 2007 games.
*Fire - A very fast Yooyu, it moves in a straight line and must be transferred very quickly between team-mates, because keeping it too long could result in burns.
*Snow - Much slower than the Normal Yooyu, the Snow Yooyu also moves in a straight line. It freezes the muscles of those playing with it, making game play quite slow.
*Mutant - Leading to an extremely unpredictable game, the Mutant Yooyu will move in numerous, random patterns, such as beginning to curve at different points in the throw, changing speed, and only rarely shooting in a straight line.
*Faerie - Floating lightly through the air, the Faerie Yooyu curves in flight and leaves players wondering when it will drop down low enough for them to capture and pass it.
*Darigan - A misbehaving Yooyu which flies in a different direction the player holding it is facing, the Darigan Yooyu's flight can be predicted based on where a player is facing in the area. This Yooyu was added in the 2007 games.
*Clockwork - The Clockwork Yooyu is a wind-up robotic toy that will begin to glow red and explode between 1 - 15 seconds if it isn't put into a goal. This Yooyu was added in the 2007 games.

Yooyuball plays as a flash game, where users can play with use of the mouse and keyboard. Before each game of Yooyuball begins, users choose the formation they want their players to stand in and select which direction they would like to move the ball down the field. Using the mouse, users point at the player they want to move around, which will select the player. The selected player can be guided around the field using the mouse. When a player has possession of the ball, clicking the left mouse button throws the ball.

If a user wanted to deselect a player, they pressed the space bar or the S key. When none of the players were selected, they can clicked anywhere on the field to move the closest player to the position they clicked on. To toggle between players, users press the left and right arrow keys (or the A and D keys). Users can activate a player when toggling between them by pressing the space bar. Pressing the Shift key to moves players back to their starting positions.

A new rule was added on June 24, 2006, which would make the Yooyu jump from a Keeper's hands if it stayed there longer than 5 seconds. It is believed this was implemented because too many users were scoring a single goal then letting the Keeper hold onto the ball for the remainder of play, scoring an automatic win.

Between each goal, a cutscene is played, showing either the goal, the crowd, or - added in 2007 - the Yooyuball selection machines beneath the arena. While the cutscene is playing, game time is still used up, but a 'continue' button appears after a short delay allowing the user to skip most of the animation. An animation accompanies the introduction of each Yooyu to the field, also, but this can be skipped using the space bar.

The Committee
The Altador Cup Committee is a group of officials who carefully examine each play, making sure the rules of Yooyuball are followed. Players or fans who feel something needs to be reviewed can file a petition, and the committee will decide whether or not to rule on the matter. Once both sides of the issue are heard, the committee gathers in its private chambers to discuss the situation and vote on an appropriate course of action. Some feel they are too strict, but it's the committee's decisions which maintain the integrity of the game, and the committee members' actions are always motivated by a desire to protect the game's best interests.

It was the Committee which sent invitations to the worlds of Neopia in 2006, asking to participate in the first Altador Cup tournament in 1000 years. It's also assumed the Committee is a front for the actions taken by The Neopets Team, who make sure the game is fair and balanced for all users.
The Altador Cup Tournament consists of sixteen teams representing the lands of Neopia. In total from previous years, eighteen worlds have participated, each sending a team to compete in the Colosseum in Altador. Users could only support one team at a time, and could only switch to another between rounds (only in the 2006 games). After Shenkuu was disovered in later 2006, Shenkuu's team replaced Kreludor's. Why this was done was released in a statement by Derlyn Fonnet, explaining that the 'muscle and bone' density of the Kreludans was, due to a malfunctioning gravity generator, too low to safely play on Neopia. To the happiness of many fans, Kreludor returned for the 2008 tournament. However, Kiko Lake could not participate because of a travel issue. Recently, the discovery of 2009's Altador Cup logo has shown that it will be Brightvale that will not participate, because apparently, King Hagan states that it would be difficult to govern the country with the Altador Cup going on.

Only sixteen teams were available for users to play, but a 17th team came from Jelly World, which has participated as the practice team for all three years. While the members of the team are unknown, it's known the Goalkeeper is a Jelly Kougra and the forwards a Jelly Kau and Usul.

So far Lutari Island has not participated in any of the Altador Cups, though two Lutari have. Neopets has yet to offer any explanation for why Lutari Island does not participate.

Slushie Slinger
Added in the 2007 games, Slushie Slinger is an game users could play for lower points besides playing Yooyuball. Users play the role of a Red Tuskaninny waitress at the Slushie Concession Stand, and must serve impatient fans (Red Nimmo, Purple Tonu, Yellow Ogrin, etc.) their slushies while Yooyuball games play. Depending on what team the user joined, the Slushie Concession Stand would be the team's official slushie stand. Players would lose a life every time an empty slushie bottle falls to the floor or if the customers reach the end of the counter.
<br clear=all>

Make Some Noise
Added in the 2007 games, Make Some Noise is an game users could play for lower points besides playing Yooyuball. Assuming the role of the Techo Fanatic, users must cheer as loud as they can by tapping two randomly chosen keys together, raising the sound meter, for as long as they can in 30 seconds, then (though this is not necessary) pressing the spacebar before the time runs out. Depending on what team the user joined, the Techo Fanatic would be seen wearing that teams shirt, and cheering for them.
<br clear=all>

Shootout Showdown
Shootout Showdown is a new game in the 2009 games. You take control of a Yooyuball player, trying to score goals against the opponents Keeper. The aim is to score 5 goals as quickly as possible, within 60 seconds, without missing or letting the keeper save your shots.

Plot participation
:Main Articles: Altador Cup 2006, Altador Cup 2007, Altador Cup 2008, Altador Cup 2009

Unlike regular plots where the plot was written by The Neopets Team, the plot was directed by the collective users on Neopets, and how well they played together in each of their selected teams. A plot summary was written after play to act out who won in each cause. Also, each year had their own methods of participation, and how the plot would progress.

Staff Tournament
As another part of the Altador Cup, The Neopets Team participates in a tournament play of their own. They did this in 2006, but they did not do this in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Along with the release of the Altador Cup on June 1, 2006, a new Shop called Altador Cup Souvenirs opened, which sold sports team merchandise for each of the teams playing. Rather than Altador Cup Tournament items have a single use, they can be used for many different things. Hands and bottles are used as toys, pennants can be placed in Neohomes, and the jerseys are Clothes.
<br clear=all>

Trivia
*The first Altador Cup appeared to coincide with dates and times of the FIFA World Cup in Germany of 2006, and the golden orb, seen in the preview trailer, of the trophy bore a remarkable resemblance to the actual World Cup.
*Noted advertisements shown in North America within the 2006 tournament were a new Dragon Ball Z game being released in July 2006 and a new Garfield movie. For 2007, Evan Almighty was advertised.
*During Yooyuball game play when the Ixi and Grarrl news presenters are making their remarks about the teams, were a user to refrain from clicking the "continue" button, they would begin to ask the user to carry on, mention they see Tarla and need to hurry and catch her or reminding the user that sitting and watching them does not earn them points. A Spyder may also come down from the ceiling.
*Because there are 17 possible Altador Cup teams, and only 16 spots available for participating, every year, TNT has to choose one team to not participate, and choose a clever reason for it.
*Coincidentially, from 2006 to 2009, the winning team for each year's Altador Cup was the runner-up team for the previous tournament.
The Lenny is a bird-like Neopet similar to the stork, ostrich, flamingo, a peafowl (when painted Faerie), or a condor (when coloured Mutant), that was released some time before January 2000.

One of the original Neopets released on the site, the Lenny is a highly intelligent and curious bird and perhaps Neopia's most intelligent species alongside Aishas, as made apparent by such Lennies as the Conundrum Lenny and Finneus. They can master many forms of magic and use their cunning to outwit any opponent. Lennies can fly, but their wings can only carry them short distances, and usually only to a hover. Despite the fact they have been around since the creation of Neopets, they are the second least popular Neopet not Limited Edition in front of Gnorbu and have a smaller growth ratio in comparison to even newer Neopets.

Trivia
*As of August 2009, over 1.5 million Lennies have been created, ranking them 42nd out of 54 Neopets in popularity. They are also featured in 100 different items.
*In the Neopets TCG, Lennies are associated with the element of Air.
*The Lenny received a redraw on January 30, 2001 and August 31, 2003.
*Added to How to Draw on February 13, 2004.
*The original Lenny and the first Lenny re-draw was drawn with a line across its forehead, suggesting that its jester's-cap shaped head was actually just a jester's cap.
Tyrannian is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. The Tyrannian colour is closely associated with Tyrannia. Tyrannian pets resemble prehistoric creatures.

The Tyrannian colour for Neopets was released on January 7, 2001. Users can change the colour of their Neopets to Tyrannian by using a Tyrannian Paint Brush item at the Rainbow Pool, most often found by using the Wheel of Monotony. In addition, the Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Neopet to Tyrannian. Users also have the choice of changing their Neopet's colour to Tyrannian when they complete a Fountain Faerie Quest. Lastly, a Neopet's colour can be changed to Tyrannian by using an appropriate Morphing Potion.

The Tyrannian colour for Petpets was released on May 10, 2002. Petpets can be painted Tyrannian by using the Tyrannian Petpet Paint Brush item at the Petpet Puddle. In addition, the Petpet Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Petpet to Tyrannian.

The Lost Desert is an arid region in Neopia's southern hemisphere. It was discovered by the rest of Neopia as part of the Brucey B and the Lucky Coin plot, when Brucey B managed to travel south through the Haunted Woods. The Desert is shared by two kingdoms, the second of which was introduced following the Lost Desert Plot.

For the most part, the Lost Desert has an Ancient Egyptian theme, but also shows Arabic and ancient Persian stylistic elements.

The Kingdoms in the Lost Desert
There are two cities in the current Lost Desert. There is the city of Sakhmet, capital of the most prosperous area of the Desert, and the newly rediscovered city of Qasala, which is in ruins but currently being repopulated. Shortly after its discovery, Dr. Frank Sloth invaded the Lost Desert and attacked Sakhmet, succeeding in taking the Sakhmetian palace before his forces were beaten back and the magic Staff of Alhasutek was destroyed.

Sakhmet
A city of spires and domes, Sakhmet is constructed predominantly of sandstone. It was occupied by Dr Sloth when he invaded, and he managed to build a space-worthy escape pod into one of the towers. The Royal Palace of Sakhmet is one of the most stunning structures in the Neopian World.

The Sakhmetian Royal Family went through a time of turbulence after the Lost Desert was discovered. Following the poisoning of King Coltzan III in a move to usurp the throne, and the Royal Family held an investigation in which it drafted in the users to analyse the case, with the promised reward of items from the Royal Treasury (priceless Battle Scarabs). After the case was closed, a shrine was erected in the King's honour, in which was placed his Crown, which was said to be inhabited by the ghost of Coltzan. As the shrine was unveiled, however, it emerged that the cunning Malkus Vile, a crime lord, had had the crown stolen - The Hunt for the Crown was on. Since the crown was returned, the Ghost of Coltzan blesses Neopets who mourn at his obelisk.

The Royal Family of Sakhmet went under another turbulent time, when the Princess Amira (who had inherited the throne from Coltzan III) received Prince Jazan IV of Qasala who demanded her hand in marriage based on some document of betrothment he had gathered from somewhere. He believed that marrying a Sakhmetain Princess would restore his lands and people, so when the Princess refused, he stole the City away with dark magic, where it became plagued by his demons. When he fell in love with Nabile (who could be seen as a princess of thieves, though her mother was Princess Neera so technically she is a real princess, as a matter of fact, she's Princess Amira's cousin), they married and Jazan restored Sakhmet, but his land did not prosper again and in fact the prophecy he fulfilled brought back to life his wicked, power-mad father Razul who attacked the Lost Desert until he was stopped.

Qasala
A once-beautiful city that fell on hard times and is now mostly in ruins after being obliterated 200 years ago by a sandstorm. Amongst the ruined buildings lie caches of histories and magic. One of the more notable buildings is the Temple of 1,000 Tombs.

This once thriving city had a very well respected Royal Family, until Razul cursed his own people, and his own son, Jazan, and laid down a prophecy that would enable him to live again after his death. Both Razul and Jazan controlled considerable sorcery. Since then, it has been haunted by the Spirit of the Ruins, a Grundo-like spirit.

Activities in the Lost Desert
The Lost Desert has a large number of shops, such as Lady Osiri's Pottery, Sutek's Scrolls, Battle Supplies and Desert Arms, and Qasalan Delights. There are also several daily-events, such as Coltzan's Shrine, the Fruit Machine, and the Lost Desert Scratchcard Kiosk. Other games in the Lost Desert include Tug of War and Swarm.

Yooyuball
The Lost Desert's Yooyuball team of 2006 had a lineup which could have done lots of damage in the tournament, but troubles in 2006 ("Dirty" Navers' aggressive tactics and Derbi Azar's holdout) made fans wary of them and if they would effectively play. They managed beat the Space Station in the first round, but were beaten by Roo Island in Round Two. When the time came to assign blame for the improbable loss, most of the criticism was aimed at defenseman Wyett Tuggins, who was repeatedly put to shame by the brilliant play of Roo Island's Fenny Vail. As a result, journeyman Luvea Trivon took his place in the 2007 games. After a few uneventful years for Lost Desert their chance to shine came in 09' where they made it to the finals and placed third after being defeated by the eventual winners Krawk Island, but being able to defeat the initial top seeds, Kreludor.

Colour
:Main Article: Desert

Desert is is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. In general, Desert pets are light brown in colour and are dressed in desert themed clothing. The Desert colour for Neopets was released on June 22, 2001, and the Desert colour for Petpets was released on September 26, 2007

Climate
The climate for Lost Desert is generally hot, and it's usually the hottest place in all of Neopia. In the summer, the temperature is usually around 50 degrees and it almost never rains. In the winter, it's much cooler than the summer, but is still very warm, and it occasionally rains.

Kreludor is Neopia's moon! It is where Dr. Sloth originally found the Grundos, and some of them live there still. Kreludor is famous for its rare Kreludan metal, a mineral essential for construction of evil robots.

On Kreludor there is the Neocola Machine, Booktastic Books, and a few other things.

Kreludor is the first (and only) moon of Neopia. Not much is known about it, only that it is home to a large colony of Orange Grundos, and it seems that some sinister mining operation is going on...

Gravity is currently 29% that of Neopia. Boing!

Breathable air is roughly 82% of normal quality.

Yooyuball
Kreludor's Yooyuball team is not the most physically gifted team, but is considered the most disciplined and fundamentally sound group in game. Able to befuddle defenders with torrents of crisp passes and a labrynth of picks and blocks, Kreludor has been known to take their more talented opponents and tie them in knots.

In the 2007 Altador Cup, Kreludor did not participate. They were replaced by Shenkuu, but returned in 2008 replacing Kiko Lake. Although storming the competition in 09', going into the bracket as the top seed, they had to settle for fourth after defeats from Shenkuu and the Lost Desert.
*Kreludor appeared in the first Caption Competition, before it was even considered part of Neopia.
*Kreludor was officially introduced to Neopia on May 5, 2004
*On June 21, 2007 a Meteor crashed into Kreludor.

Kiko Lake lies 15 miles north-east of Neopia Central. It is a habitation in and around a large lake formed within the caldera of a long-dormant volcano. Within the lake is an underwater village where over a thousand Kikos make their home. The Lake is populated by primarily water-based Neopets, out of the 9,400 pets living their, 92% are Kikos and 3% are Jetsams. Kiko Lake is the sole exporter for the cures to Kikoughela, a disease which causes a pet to have coughing fits and a sore throat. Two spoonfuls of "Kikoughela Syrup" can cure the Disease.

Yooyuball
Kiko Lake's Yooyuball team is a strong contender, but entered 2006 with a lot to prove, due to the injury of Helmo Timm, the flashy (yet erratic) play of goalkeeper Ditan Colb, and their superstar defender Meela Kitah coming off the worst year of her career. Not making it past the first round, fans hoped for a surprise in 2007, similar to that of Roo Island's team, though many believed they wouldn't make it past the Round-Robin Phase. With the addition of forward Moni Vyshan, they hoped the team would more competitive than the previous year's. After being unable to compete the next year due to a rockslide, Kiko Lake came back with a drastic lineup change fans thought would help them a lot. Although this new line-up beat Maraqua in the first game which led to be a confidence booster, they later fell from grace and into the final bracket being beaten by Terror Mountain, placing them 14th.

The Haunted Woods is a spooky Halloween-themed world within Neopets, introduced on 31st October 2000. It is filled with many evil and wretched things, and home to Eliv Thade, Edna and many other villains of Neopia.

The Deserted Fairground is a part of the Haunted Woods. It hosts a few shops, as well as many games to play (like Test Your Strength and the Wheel of Misfortune), although many of the games are rigged, and almost unplayable.

Yooyuball
The Haunted Woods Yooyuball team subscribes to the old saying "defense wins championships," and has built its team to shut down forwards and force mistakes which create easy scoring opportunities for them, requires plenty of discipline and determination from the other team to defeat them. The Haunted Woods won the Altador Cup of 2006.

With the retirement of veteran defender Chelo Binay in 2007, it was questioned whether the defensive unit of the team would be as good as last years. If the playing of newcomer Autrey Fulse was any indication, Haunted Woods fans with hopes of back-to-back titles wouldn't need to worry. However, the favorites going into last year's tournament were Altador, Faerieland, and Mystery Island, so it's uncertain how the year would go. A disappointment to Haunted Woods fans was a drop from a championship to 7th, then continuing a gradual slide from grace with a 8th in 08 and 10th in 09

Faerieland is a collection of homes, towers and a giant castle set on clouds high in the skies of Neopia. Ruled by Fyora, the queen of the Faeries, Faerieland is full of games, puzzles, and faeries. Faerieland is inhabited by the faeries and the place users go to when they need to report a success on a Faerie Quest.

Faerieland is also the home of the Hidden Tower, Fyora's secret stash of collected magical relics, where all the most powerful weapons for the Battledome are sold.

Yooyuball
In 2006, Faerieland's Yooyuball team featured one of the most potent offensive attacks in the game, consisting of three forwards, making for one of the biggest stories going into the Altador Cup. Their trio of quick, undersized forwards had a tendency to wear down against larger and more physical opponents, however, and their fans were stunned when they were defeated by such forwards from Mystery Island in Round 1. In 2007, Faerieland decided to switch back to two forwards, adding defender Elbin Towse, who showed vast improvement in practice and then in the regular season the past year. However, the hype didn't quite help Faerieland, giving it last place in Altador Cup IV
Faerie Festival
Faerie Festival is an annual event that takes place on September 20th. It is generally celebrated with a variety of faerie-themed items being released including new Petpets able to be painted the Faerie Colour. It first appeared as an event in the New Features on September 21, 2004.

Faerie Festival 2009
Faerie Festival 2009 was celebrated with much more fanfare than the previous years. Rather than simply occurring on September 20, as usual, there were a variety of daily faerie-themed events to take part in from September 17, 2009 to October 1, 2009. Users had a chance to do something (or visit a page) to get a daily prize.

Darigan Citadel, which floats in the air thanks to many engines of an unknown mechanism, was once part of its own land of plenty, until King Skarl's knights stole a magical orb that kept the kingdom prosperous. The Citadel came to the Meridell region as part of the Champions of Meridell plot to wage war on King Skarl and his kingdom. During this time, the Citadel was ruled by Lord Darigan, who vanished at the end of the plot. Lord Kass took over in Lord Darigan's absence and waged a second war against Meridell from above as part of the Battle for Meridell plot, during which time it was know as 'Kass Citadel'. Darigan returned and took back his kingdom in the course of the plot.

Attractions include the Darigan Toys shop and the Petpet Battledome, along with the fortress' many dungeons and the games that have developed in them.

Yooyuball
Darigan's Yooyuball team have few major weaknesses, although they have been criticized in the past for playing too easy a schedule during the regular season, and as a result are unprepared when the tournament comes. To fix this, Darigan Citadel relented and added more matches against a few of the better teams for the 2006 season. Due to this they didn't finish as high in the standings as they normally did, but it gave them the toughness to play in the games which mattered the most (or at least this is what the fans hoped). Their tactic paid off, and they managed to place 2nd in the Altador Cup, ending their reputation as post-season underachievers.

Rather than rest, however, the Citadel's team made an upgrade for the Goalkeeper, replacing the less-than-mobile Mungo Lifler with promising netminder Reshar Collifey for the 2007 season. And due to the success of the previous year's tactic, Darigan again faced a string of difficult teams for their regular schedule. Darigan was from the start considered the favourite of the 2007 Altador Cup, maintaining a position at the top of the leader-board for the round robin. In the finals it faced off against Roo Island's team and finally won the Cup on July 9th. However, they also fell to the curse of previous winner Haunted Woods and subsequent winner Roo Island to not be able to reach the standard again, placing seventh the following year and the following year, although showing promise initially, placing seventh again after a round one loss to Mystery Island.

Altador is an old relic of a city over 1000 years old which resides on the "other side" of Neopia. It was first explored in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, and released on the website on March 1, 2006.

Overview
Altador lies far from current Neopian society, all the way on the unexplored "other side" of Neopia. It has only recently made contact with the world, due to the fact it literally disappeared from memory over 1000 years ago due to time manipulation (similar to Meridell). Since its reappearance, it has begun trade with the rest of the Neopia.

The reappearance of Altador was shared with all Neopians on March 1, 2006, when two brave Neopets (believed to be Tormund and Roberta) discovered a strange portal in Faerie City (specifically Fyora's chambers), which teleports to the Hall of Heroes.

It's currently ruled by 11 (formerly 12) heroes, the head of which is King Altador, from which the city gains its name.

History of Altador
Much of the history of Altador is shrouded in mystery, while pieces of it have been revealed in The Darkest Faerie video game and in the Altador Plot.

Altador was originally a peaceful and prosperous land, ruled by 12 protectors, one of which was a Dark Faerie, now only known as The Darkest Faerie. As the other leaders aged, The Darkest Faerie believed she should be the sole ruler of Altador because of her immortality, and began plotting against the other protectors to take over. Jerdana, the one of the 12, banished the Faerie from Altador when she learned of her plot. Outraged at her banishment, she planned against Altador from afar, and returned wreaking havoc on the city. To protect the city, Jerdana placed it within a spell of slow time. Fyora then used Jerdana's Orb to trap The Darkest Faerie in stone, and where she fell to the bottom of the Maraquan ocean.

1000 years passed for the rest of the world, while little to no time passed in Altador, and The Darkest Faerie eventually broke free, forcing the remaining 11 (who blended into the world of Neopia) into action to find two heroes to fight against her. Tormund and Roberta were separately selected, and eventually came to Altador to discover a way to stop The Darkest Faerie and release Altador from the time spell, both of which were accomplished.

Yooyuball
The Yooyuball team of Altador boasts an airtight defence, allowing them to usually win with only one goal per game. During the 2006 season, they averaged the least amount of goals allowed per game coming into the Altador Cup, though it is question if they could generate enough scoring to stay in the tournament.

Having lost in Round One of the 2006 tournament, many were lead to believe Altador was out of practice after the thousand year hiatus, which prompted them to work hard during the following year's practices, exhibitions, and regular season matches, making them fighting fit and ready to prove the loss was a fluke. Team Captain "Trapper" Remis cautioned the "so-called experts" that picking against them was madness, and was quoted telling the press, "After all, let's not forget who invented the game. No one's gonna stop us from taking back what's rightfully ours." But after placing 13th twice, then 15th excuses were gone for the Altador team.

Team positions are as follows (bolded notes the Team Captain):

Merchandise
Altador and its heroes were also featured in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, which was released for the PlayStation 2 on November 15, 2005. It's also made reference to in many Neopets TCG cards.

Climate
The weather for Altador is dry and sunny most of the time, according to the Altador Cup team logo which is a sun. The good weather is likely the reason Altador is the venue for the annual Altador Cup, to prevent bad weather from interfering the tournament if it was hosted elsewhere.

Trivia
*Originally, when Neopets: The Darkest Faerie was to being developed, Altador was originally called Talador. Because of this, there are Neopet TCG cards and Neopian Times editorials which make reference to it. Due to some legal issues, however, this had to be changed, and "Altador", an anagram of the original name, was chosen instead.
*While Altador contains many features of the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations such as an amphitheatre, liberal use of columns, and togas worn by the inhabitants, it is not meant to be based on any one specifically.
*People originally visited Altador by clicking on a portal in the Faerie City in Faerieland, however this was changed once the other side of Neopia was released.

Maraqua is an underwater land discovered on October 6, 2000. The name is given to two underwater kingdoms, one of which was destroyed and is currently in ruins. In order to distinguish between the two cities, the historic city is referred to as Old Maraqua and the modern New Maraqua. Maraqua is not the only underwater settlement - see Kiko Lake - but it is the only salt water one as of yet discovered.

Old Maraqua
The Destruction
:Main Article: The Destruction of Maraqua

Was destroyed by a whirlpool on August 18, 2001, following a flash movie released the previous day (17th August 2001) in which the Pirate Captain Dread, a skeletal Kiko, sailed to Maraqua in a submarine known in fanlore as The Revenge. Here, he demanded his annual 'protection money' from the then King Koi, who refused to pay (giving reasons such as a 'poor Kelp Harvest'). From the tone of this conversation, it can be presumed that Captain Dread regularly came for this money. The whirlpool is believed to be the result of a curse from this Pirate. The whirlpool, said to be ten miles wide, lasted until the 31st May 2002, where is finally subsided to reveal the Ruins of Maraqua.

Attractions of the Original Maraqua
Maraqua once housed the Underwater Kitchen Quests, later relocated to Mystery Island, and was the sole supplier of Utility Fish, which are now all retired and very expensive. TNT stated once that they originally planned for Utility Fish to be used as NeoHome utilities. Maraqua also sold Aquatic PetPets (most of which were redesigned and are being sold on Mystery Island). The Aquatic Foods Shop also disappeared, retiring the shop items, only to be replaced by Kelp in New Maraqua, with new foods.

After the whirlpool ruined the city, the Ruins began to be populated again, first by a gigantic Slug Monster, then by a Mysterious Statue (believed to be of the Darkest Faerie), then by a Bubbling Pit (listing all the available Maraqua-coloured Neopets), then by an Underwater Fishing area. The discovery and open trade with New Maraqua has promoted people re-entering the ruins, and it remains to be seen whether more will be made of this area.

New Maraqua
After the whirlpool destroyed the original city, King Kelpbeard set about building a new, more splendid city, with a strong army to protect it from its enemies. However, information of this was learnt by an armada of pirates, who set out to conquer the nation.

History
As part of the Curse of Maraqua plot, Maraqua was rebuilt with the intention of being stronger than its predecessor so as to withstand any future Pirate attacks. New Maraqua has a standing army lead by Swordmaster Talek, something Old Maraqua didn't appear to have. When Captain Scarblade learned that there were surviving Maraquans, he lead another attack (this time with an army of pirates). They were fought off, however, in the plot.

Maractite
The Curse of Maraqua plot introduced the mineral maractite, capable of travelling effortlessly through water as though it was in air. Information provided in the CoM plot suggests that supplies of maractite are running thin. According to the Maractite Axe card (of the Neopets TCG), maractite slowly decays when exposed to air.

Attractions of New Maraqua
In addition to having shops selling maractite weaponry and furniture, Maraqua is also the sole supplier of collectable Sea Shells. There is a shop selling Maraquan PetPets, although, interestingly, none of the PetPets that were sold in Old Maraqua and now Mystery Island are being sold.

The restaurant Kelp, much like the Golden Dubloon on Krawk Island, sells highly priced meals, and an avatar is obtainable from it. It is frequently very busy, making entering the restaurant difficult.

Maraquan Architecture
Visually, Old Maraqua's structure was very different from New Maraqua's. Old Maraqua was built out of transparashield, and had the look of a futuristic ocean colony. The smooth, bubble-like windows seemed to imply that there was an atmosphere inside the buildings. New Maraqua has a very coral-like appearance, is made out of Maractite, and is open to the oceans.

Plot Replacements
In the Curse of Maraqua plot, several replacements were made to the characters from the original destruction movie. Captain Dread was replaced with Captain Scarblade, Captain Dread's unnamed sidekick Blumaroo was replaced with Benny the Blade, King Koi was replaced with King Kelpbeard, and The Revenge submarine with a boat of the same name.

The original destruction movie was removed after the Curse of Maraqua (the page it was found on now only redirects to the About Us page) due to these inconsistencies, but the movie file still exists on the servers.

Yooyuball
Maraqua's Yooyuball team could be described as "a house divided," due to the antics of their star forward. Elon Hughlis is more concerned with his personal accomplishments than actual wins and losses, making him a headache to the team. He looks down on his teammates who aren't as talented as him, and they endure him due to his tremendous ability. Maraqua would love to trade Hughlis to another team, but no other team would give them as equal a player in return.

After getting beaten in the first round of Altador Cup 2006, fans thought Maraqua would cut its losses and get rid of Elon Hughlis. When it became apparent that Hughlis wasn't leaving, they decide to trade other foward, Jair Tollet for Roo Island's Dayla (injured first practice). Considering Hughlis insisted on scoring most of the team's goals, Maraqua decided having three defenders in the lineup worked best for them, adding hefty defence man Oten Runeu to their starting unit. As a result, Maraqua looked to have one of the toughest squads in Neopia to score against, later proved to be false after placing ninth and tenth in the following two cups.

However, in 09, even though Maraqua was defeated in the first match by Kiko Lake, the team was able to win the second bracket, putting them in 5th place, a drastic improvement from their following years of 10th, 9th, and 10th.

Team positions are as follows (bolded notes the Team Captain):

Colour
:Main Article: Maraquan

Maraquan is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. Maraquan pets resemble underwater creatures, both real and mythological. The Maraquan colour for Neopets was released on June 17, 2003, and the Maraquan colour for Petpets was released on April 21, 2004.

Climate
The water in Maraqua is usually cold because the weather above the ocean has a very cool climate. It's wet and rains almost every day in the summer with occasional amounts of snow, and for the other seasons, the temperature is below 0 degrees almost every day.

Trivia
*The Neopets Team gave a hint Maraqua would return in the Advent Calendar of December 27, 2004, which showed all current bands of the Concert Hall playing to a version of Do They Know It's Christmas? with the words "Rebuild Maraqua - Let them know Neopia loves them!". A Rebuild Maraqua Poster was given out as a prize on the same day.

Blumaroos
Roo Island is heavily populated with Blumaroos. According to a survey done for an old Neopedia article, 95% of the population of 275,000 inhabitants are Blumaroos (4/5 Blumaroos are born there). Several of the buildings are designed to resemble Blumaroos, particularly the palace of King Roo (who is obsesed wih dice-a-roo), and the Colouring Pages building is reminiscent of a Blumaroo tail. For those non-Blumaroos, all buildings in the shopping district are shaped like little huts.

Roo Island's Yooyuball team consists of also-rans and inexperienced rookies, but received a huge boost when Lilo Blumario, one of the game's top players, decided to take a pay cut and sign up with his hometown club. In what was considered improbable and the biggest story of Altador Cup 2006, Roo Island managed to reach Round 3 of the tournament, being defeated by Darigan Citadel and placing as number four. After a voting of fans and players that Roo Island had the ugliest jersey. Fans hoped to do even better this past tournament, with a new uniform and the team's signing of Maraquan forward Jair Tollet, who was traded to Roo Island for Dayla, the red Lenny (She got injured in the first practice and never played again). This helped Roo Island make it to the final match, losing to Darigan Citadel, and overall placing in second. Third time proved to be the charm, when in 2008, Roo Island beat Krawk Island in the Altador Cup final, claiming the cup. In 09, however, Roo Island placed ninth, giving them the record of farthest place difference between cups after winning, as Darigan Citadel and Haunted Woods both placed seventh the tournaments after they won.

When Bruno began advertising Mr. Krawley's potion, Reginald took it and it vastly improved his intellect. However, soon his avid reading and thirst for knowledge made it impossible for anyone to socialise with him, and he became isolated. When the members of the town held a witch hunt against his family, Reginald took his sister Sophie deep into the woods into the care of Ilere while Bruno made a distraction.
An Elephante and Puppyblew are playing fetch with peanuts! The Elephante shoots out the peanut while the Puppyblew catches it. HUZZAH!

How to play
Start by shooting the peanut out of the Elephante's trunk. Click on the left and right arrow keys to power up your throw. Once you get as high as you can, click the up arrow to throw.

Now help the Puppyblew chase the peanut down using the arrow keys again. Use the right arrow to move the Puppyblew forward in the screen and stay lined up with the shadow.

To avoid the logs, make the Puppyblew jump using one of the following key combinations:

*Left Up Right => Front Flip
*Right Up Left => Back Flip
*Up Right => Straight Jump
*Left Right Left Right Up => 2x Front Flip
*Right Left Right Left Up => 2x Back Flip

The jumps give you different bonuses depending on what they are. Staight Jump gives no bonuses, Backflip and Frontflip give a five point bonus, and 2x frontflip and backflip gives out a ten point bonus.
Hints
Once you hold in the right arrow key to catch up to the shadow of the peanut, before you even approach the log, quickly press "right arrow","left arrow", "right arrow", "left arrow". That way, once you actually approach the log, all you have to do is press the "up" key, and you'll still do a 2x Back Flip in a much easier manner! Always remember that once the peanut is on it's way down, perform a supercatch by jumping to catch the peanut in midair.

The JubJub is a Neopet, and one of the original lineup of pets to adopt when Neopets went public. Throughout its varying colours, it is in essence a ball of fluff with a pair of orange feet. JubJubs are shy, secretive creatures who are scared easily, and prefer to keep to themselves. They aren't aggressive, but can defend themselves with a deafening screech when threatened. And while they are small, they can run or roll at an amazing speed.

Because of their small size, they are often mistaken for plants and vegetables, and this confusion is made all the more difficult with the fact they can be painted into various food items: like garlic, strawbery etc. Also, even though they don't have any hands they make do with using their feet in place of their hands, which is an easy task with their opposable toes.

It was questioned if Fuzzles are baby versions of the JubJub, but this has been disproven in a Help File, stating that Fuzzles are toys, and not Neopets.

The JubJub was originally called the JibJib, and has since been renamed "JubJub" on August 23, 2000. It is believed the JubJub attained its current name from the beast called the JubJub Bird in the Lewis Carroll poem, Jabberwocky.

Overview
The JubJub is like a creature called a "tribble", and it shares some colours with the Kiko.

Colours
As of June 2009, JubJubs come in 46 different colours:
Trivia
*As of October 2009, JubJubs are placed 7th in popularity with over 10.1 million in existence in Neopia.
*A new look to the JubJub was given on June 6, 2006.
*In the Neopets TCG, JubJubs are associated with the element of Air.
*On October 3, 2007, a Neovision Mini-Show was released, showing a yellow JubJub using many different Battledome Equipment items (notably the Battle Duck, Little Timmy's Slingshot, Bony Grarrl Club, Sword Of Skardsen, Wand of the Dark Faerie, and Ghostkerbomb) without any visiable hands, and use of mechanical ones, and obvious joke to the fact the JubJub has no hands.
*JubJubs are in no way related to Fuzzles. Fuzzles are NOT Baby JubJubs.
A Bruce who has a habit of playing card game Cheat!, Brucey B is a Bingo caller by profession, but in his nights off he likes to play the odd game of Cheat!. Still learning, but by no means a beginner, Brucey will catch you out with the old triple-bluff manoeuvre. He also tends to hide his cards under the table, so you will not know he has won until the last minute!

Once helped save the Lost Desert from Dr. Frank Sloth and his army of Grundos in a plot titled Brucey B and the Lucky Coin. Brucey B was found in the Lost Desert War Tent he had been recruiting in for a while after the plot finished, though it has now been removed.

After losing his Lucky Coin to a mysterious purple Jetsam in a rigged Cheat! game, Brucey B and his friends Capara and Princess Fernypoo decide to track down the Jetsam. The three adventurers go to the Brain Tree for help but get lost in the Haunted Woods. As dawn breaks they discover that they had made it through the Woods - something no one has ever done before. Crossing the dunes of the Lost Desert they find the Jetsam in front of the Great Pyramid and Dr. Sloth's evil plan already underway. After chasing down Sloth to get his coin back, Brucey saves Sakhmet and Neopia when he breaks the Staff of Alhasutek.
*He's an unique Cheat! player because he accuses people of cheating very frequently, making it difficult to not get caught while cheating.
*On January 29, 2009, Brucey was featured on Better Than You scoring 195 in Rink Runner. Prize was a GX-4 Oscillabot Coin. I dare you to outperform me! What? No I'm not wearing my lucky coin... it's just... a gold medallion, that's all!</blockquote>
Crisis Courier is an action game released on April 13, 2007, detailing the mailing system King Altador uses when he needs an urgent message delivered fast.

How to play
The goal of each level is to earn points by collecting the goodie bags and attacking the Minitheuses . In addition to this, users must avoid colliding with the rocks and buildings. Hitting any of these obstacles will take away one life. Movement is controlled with the mouse and clicking the left button will switch between the Fire and Snow Yooyus. There are seven levels in total and the game speed is increased in each level.

The Fire Yooyu is only able to attack the red Minitheuses and goodie bags while the Snow Yooyu can only go after the blue ones. Gold goodie bags can be collected by either Yooyu. Each Minitheus is worth 10 points. The gold goodie bags are 5 points and the red and blue goodie bags are 10 points each. Accidentally touching the wrong colour of either Minitheus or goodie bag will cost one life.

There are two fruits found in the game that will alter the Yooyu in play for about 10 seconds. The winged fruit (or Cornucopia) will turn the Yooyu into the Faerie version. This Yooyu can collect gold, red and blue goodie bags for 20 points each but it must not attack the Minitheuses. The fig will turn the Yooyu into the Mutant version. This Yooyu can attack all the Minitheuses regardless of colour but must avoid the red and blue goodie bags. After the 10 second time limit has passed, the Yooyu will always turn back into the Snow version regardless of whether or not it was previously Fire. As such, when a new level starts, the yooyu will always be fire wheather or not it was or wasn't before.

Perennially among the game's leaders in turnover-to-assist ratio, "The Wizard" not only makes all the plays look easy, but he's also about as fundamentally sound as any other passer you'll see. Despite this, Windelle lacks much scoring and blocking abilities. He became captain of his team in the 2008 and 2009 signals after the previous captain's departure.
The Yurble is a lion-like Neopet released on May 28, 2004 (the 47th species to be released). Yurbles are curious and fun loving Neopets that love eating just about anything, enjoying the search through the undergrowth for food. Due to their thick fur, Yurbles dislike getting wet. Their curled horns always remain curled unless they are injured.

Colours
As of May 2009, the Yurble can come in 38 different colours:
