:This article is about the colour. For the underwater kingdom, please see Maraqua.

Maraquan is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. The Maraquan colour is closely associated with the underwater kindgom of Maraqua. Maraquan pets resemble underwater creatures, both real and mythological.

The Maraquan colour for Neopets was released on June 17, 2003. Users can change the colour of their Neopets to Maraquan by using a Maraquan Paint Brush item at the Rainbow Pool. In addition, the Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Neopet to Maraquan. Users also have the choice of changing their Neopet's colour to Maraquan when they complete a Fountain Faerie Quest. Lastly, a Neopet's colour can be changed to Maraquan by using an appropriate Morphing Potion.

The Maraquan colour for Petpets was released on April 21, 2004, Petpets can be painted Maraquan by using the Maraquan Petpet Paint Brush item at the Petpet Puddle. In addition, the Petpet Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Petpet to Maraquan.
Trivia
*Because of their odd body shapes, Maraquan Neopets cannot wear many of the items for Neopet Customisation. The exception to this rule is the Maraquan Mynci, because its body shape is so similar to the regular Mynci's that it can wear clothing.

A Petpetpet is a very tiny insect-like creature which acts as a parasite or pet (depending on the Petpetpet) to Petpets. The first Petpetpets were released on June 11, 2003.

Overview
Petpetpets take many different shapes, the majority of which bear strong resemblance to real insects. All of them use the body of their Petpet master as a home, and some even use it as a food source.

In Neopets, Petpetpets are usually expensive, and are often viewed as a status symbol. Their high price is due to the fact that they will only appear from a rare Random Event, in which a random Petpet attached to one of the user's Neopets catches one and brings it back to their owner in its mouth. Because of how easy it is to lose the Petpetpet from the user's inventory (see explanation in "How to attach" below), keeping a Petpetpet from the Random Event is difficult. However, once a Petpetpet is attached to a Petpet, it is attached for good. The only way that a Petpetpet can be removed from a Petpet is if the user removes the Petpet from their Neopet, in which case the Petpetpet attached will simply vanish.

List of Petpetpets
|}

:Petpetpets marked with an * are announced, searchable and featured in either a game or various items, but no one appears to have them, making it unclear whether they are obtainable or not.

How to attach
Once obtained, a Petpetpet can attach itself to a Petpet by the following means:

*The Petpet which will become the host of the Petpetpet which is attached to the users active Neopet.
*The Petpetpet is in their inventory.
*Refresh the inventory until the Petpetpet disappears.

Assuming the disappearance was not the fault of the Pant Devil or a similar Random Event-thief, the Petpetpet should now be attached to the Petpet of the users active Neopet. If a user wants to remove the Petpetpet, all they need to do is unequip the Petpet, which is achieved by clicking on the Petpet on the user's Quick Ref page and selecting "Stop Playing with (Petpet's name)." The Petpetpet will then be gone, with no way of retrieving it.

Plot appearances
Due to being small, Petpetpets don't play very big roles in plots, but they have been known to make appearances all the same. In The Tale of Woe, a few Petpetpets could be found in dug up graves (only as art, not as prize/real item) during the gravedigging of plot completion. In Petpet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing, Petpetpets were used to give bonuses to stats. In Journey to the Lost Isle, Petpetpets played a much bigger role, being the giant, mutant monsters the explorers faced during their stay on the island. Some were hostile, having to be fought in order for the explorers to escape, and others where either herbivores or only attacked when felt threatened.

Two images of unreleased Petpetpets can be found in Neopets' image database. It can be concluded from their image URL they have been created either at the same time as the Mootix, Breebly, Cooty and Vernax, or shortly thereafter. Exactly what they are is unknown. They could be rejected designs from the early Petpetpet creation stages or "joke items" (much like the items from July 22, 2006) which The Neopets Team eventually decided not to release. Oddly though, the Petpetpet resembling a plucked bird was the first Petpetpet to ever appear in a picture of the Caption Competition.
Known as the Mistress of the Doublecross, Masila is the Femme Fatale of the Thieves guild. An ambitious and power-hungry Acara, she convinved Kanrik that they could use the Bringer of Night to overthrow Galem and lead the Thieves' Guild together. When the plan failed and Galem wanted to kill Kanrik, she suggested instead that he be cast out of the Guild and poisioned him before he could reveal her part in the scheme.

Before his death, Masila pretended to be Galem's lover so that she could influence him and gain more power for herself, although if she truly loved anybody, it was Kanrik.

She is reported to harbor a deep hatred for Hannah since the events on Terror Mountain.

The Xweetok is a thick-furred Neopet originating from the forests of Neopia. They make their homes in hollowed out trees and logs, and are quite agile. Xweetoks enjoy being chased, and often indulge in games such as 'Tag' or 'Hide 'n' Seek' with others of its species. It has small claws on the tips of its paws, allowing it to climb steep crevices that seem difficult to other species.

The Xweetok was newly added to the website rather unexpectedly on November 30, 2005. It came with mixed reactions. Many members enjoyed it due to its likeness to real-life creatures, but with a Neopets-esque, coy look. Others disliked it due to the similarity to the Wocky and Acara. Still others thought that it was poorly drawn, and with people still holding their breath for the April Fool's pet and the Lutari, many found it annoying that Neopets had made two new pets (The other being the Ogrin) while they were waiting.

Still, the Xweetok is popular, especially with younger players who are glad to get a cute-looking pet without having to buy a Paint Brush. Others love its Mutant look, which turns it into a rat-like creature.

Since this cute pet was released, it has shot up the popularity charts, to land at #16 as of October 14, 2006. This sets a new record for the fastest-growing new species population.
The Ghost Lupe can be found in Neohome 131 Soup Alley. This seems like an obscure area to find a battledome challenger, but the address is prominently visible in the Defenders of Neopia comic. Simply go to the Neohome site, and refresh once. Afterwards, he should be on your challenge list.
When The Neopets Team redid the character, they asked in New Features for the history books to "gloss over" this.
