The '''Jelly Chia''' was the result of an experiment by a deranged confectioner named [[Wizzle]]. Hoping to become rich and famous, he planned to create an 'edible friend', a pet which would be your buddy until you decided to eat it. One of his first experiments, Wizzle looked after the Jelly Chia, read it stories, and educating it about [[Neopia]]. This continued until Wizzle got hungry, and he walked up to the Jelly Chia licking his lips. Suddenly realising what was going to happen, the Jelly Chia launched himself at Wizzle in desperation, slowly dissolving him. Nobody ever saw Wizzle again after that day.

If you look carefully at the old, disused chocolate factory on the hill, you may still be able to find the lonely Jelly Chia bouncing around looking for new play things, and still hear Wizzle's screams.

The Bruce originally wasn't a penguin-based Neopet, but was based on real world entertainer Bruce Forsyth. It originally appeared as a sepia photograph of him, before it was redrawn, still in his image. Concerned that this design "didn't really fit in with the theme", the Bruce was redesigned on 16 November 2000 into its penguin incarnation. This would undergo some later redraws but the design itself remains virtually unchanged today.

:Chill, chill, I'm just experimenting ;). Re icons, you do make a good point, and it's certainly easier to show variable icons as we are currently. There is also the matter of technical limitations - we'd need to install something like the [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Loops loops extension] (and the variable extension, and the parser functions extension as well, probably) to make the icon template we currently use print multiple icons anyway. We could have multiple icon templates for different icon quantities, I suppose, but that's not a very elegant solution.

:On the other hand, counting may be an issue for large numbers of icons, but for Neopet abilities, there are never more than about three of one icon type together. We could also make the mouse-over tooltip give the icon quantity in long form ("3 x Earth"). I guess what I'm saying is that there's a lot to consider. Don't take this experiment as a decision on The Icon Question, it is only that - an experiment.

:I was mainly just looking at the ability tables, thinking that if we are going to tabulate them we should probably tabulate ''all'' the fields (i.e. attack and defence columns, instead of saying "Attack: xyz Defence: abc"). I also thought that they'd look better with a gold border like the colour used in [[Template:Infobox neopet]], rather than the battledome arena colour.

:The scarblade/koi warrior tables were just brainstorming their layout. Their designs aren't massively dissimilar to the [[Template:BattleInfo|current one]] anyway, just a little more compact - I don't think they'd 'clash' with the weapons tables though?

The '''Acara''', originally introduced as the ''Tigren'', is a species of [[Neopet]] that loves to live by the sea. As an [[wikipedia:Amphibians|amphibious]] Neopet capable of breathing underwater, Acaras are just as happy on land as they are in the ocean. Acaras are fantastic swimmers and posses a thick coat of fur that helps keep them warm in the depths of the sea. They also have two horn-like protrusions on their heads that allow them to [[wikipedia:Animal echolocation|hear]] underwater. As a general rule, Acaras are very playful and love to explore. They especially enjoy diving for hidden treasure and playing [[Gormball]] on the beach.

Acaras are inquisitive and curious creatures, and take a great joy in coming upon secrets and hidden things, and quite a few have distinguished themselves as very talented treasure-seekers. Some condemn Acaras for being nosey and asking a few too many questions, though they only have a genuine desire to learn.

The Acara was originally called the Tigren. The Tigren was designed by Perdiddle and chosen as the winner for the April Create-A-Pet Contest and was introduced on April 28, 2000. The name was changed on July 19 for reasons unknown, along with the '''Polypup''''s change to the [[Gelert]]. NeoNews of the time touted the change as "evolution", just like [[Wikipedia: Pokémon|Pokémon]] do.

The write up that came with the Tigren stated: Tigrens are excellent swimmers that are just as comfortable on land as at sea. An air of mystery surrounds where these creatures came from but it looks as if they are here to stay.

The '''Acara''', originally introduced as the ''Tigren'', is a species of [[Neopet]] that loves to live by the sea. Able to breath underwater, Acaras are just as happy on land as they are in the ocean. Acaras are fantastic swimmers and posses a thick coat of fur that helps keep them warm in the depths of the sea. They also have two horn-like protrusions on their heads that allow them to hear underwater. As a general rule, Acaras are very playful and love to explore. They especially enjoy diving for hidden treasure and playing [[Gormball]] on the beach.

Originally, they were [[Limited Edition|limited edition]] but have now become common.

Special Paint Brushes can also be bought in the [[Hidden Tower]], and newer [[plots]] also allow users to buy Paint Brushes with the points they collected from participating (the first plot to do this was the [[Lost Desert Plot]], which rewarded the '''Lost Desert Paint Brush''' for 70,000 points). The recent addition of Key Quest to the site provided an additional method of gaining Paint Brushes by allowing players to win certain Paint Brushes as prizes, including the Biscuit, Camouflage, Cloud, Ghost, Glowing, Striped, Snow, Speckled, Starry and Tyrannian Paint Brushes. ==Non-Paint Brush Painting==
Paint brushes can change a pet into most of its available colours, but not necessarily all. Some colours are only available via the [[Lab Ray]] including [[Robot]], Ice, Sponge, and [[MSP]]. Any colour (except Baby, Pirate, Plushie, Quiguki, Royal, and Usuki) can be given by the lab ray without need of a paint brush. Additionally, there is no Mutant Paint Brush; the only away of obtaining a mutant pet is for a player to use a Transmogrification Potion of the species he or she wants on the pet, or to get it through the lab or [[Rainbow Fountain]]. Players sometimes accidentally feed Potions to their pets, thinking they will get the colour or species change but only using it on the pet gets the desired effect.

Often, Morphing Potions and Magical Plushies are available to change a Neopet into a different species and/or colour, and are, for some of the more popular combinations, a much cheaper option that a paint brush.

Additionally, all fruit/vegetable colours (other than Strawberry) can not be obtained with a Paint Brush. These are available with a [[Magical Chia Pop]], through the Lab Ray, or the [[Rainbow Fountain]]. Chia Pops, with very few exceptions, only work on Chias. They will not turn a player's pet into a Chia.

With the exception of a few Chia fruit/vegetable colours, there are some colours that are available to only one or two pet species. Examples of this? No pet other than the [[Aisha]] can be "Alien," and Usuki paint brushes only work on [[Usul]]s and [[Quiggle]]s.

==Unusable Paint Brushes==
Very rarely, a paint brush colour is retired. The paint brushes become unusable (and in the case of the Unicorn brush, disappear completely) and pets painted the retired colour no longer remain it, but may be changed to a newer version. An example of this occurred on the 8th of January, 2002, when the Glass Paint Brush was retired, and replaced with the Tyrannian Paint Brush. Some of the glass pets were turned into the newer Tyrannian versions (the Shoyru was one of the first Tyrannian Pets), while the others remained as glass pets until a Tyrannian version was made for each of them. Each week the Petpet Protection League selects a random type of Petpet, rewarding users that have that type of petpet attached to one of their Neopets by paying 10 [[Neopoints]] for every day that the petpet has been attached. Users who have the oldest members of the selected type of Petpet receive a [[Trophy]] as well. Neopets who take their Petpet to the [[Treasure_Maps#Petpet_Laboratory|Petpet Laboratory]] are not eligible for the PPL award, as this is viewed as a form of cruelty against Petpets.
