Front page is going under revision. it's cluttered and sloppy, and i'm going to try and fix that in the next few days. Help where you can, especially with putting character/game pages in their proper categories. Hope to have this settled soon enough...--Jacob 17:24, 6 Mar 2006 (CST)
:Front page is continuing to be revised. This talk page has also been cleared of old discussions...--Jacob 10:35, 31 Mar 2006 (CST)

Could we do something with the front page to make it look more exciting? It's looking a little empty at the moment and it's a shame it doesn't reflect the quality of articles that is now offered at the NeoDex.--Yukio 13:44, 29 May 2006 (CDT)

:I know what you mean. Will look into the next few days and see what can be done. really should take a look at it, as i already made a promise to revise it, at least to myself that is *whaps head*...hmmm...--Jacob 15:22, 29 May 2006 (CDT)

Okay, I think I'm going to put in a news/FAQ design similar to http://www.tmbw.net/ except with a FAQ instead of that "Getting Started" section. Just an idea for you guys. Thoughts?--Hermioneelovesron 06:12, 26 Jun 2006 (CDT)

::Alright, I sorta took it upon myself to create that sandbox idea I had on a sub-userpage here. I think it looks good, of course I'd still love some suggestions though. I personally think it's kinda short, but I dunno what other content should be put on there. --NeoEva88 22:38, 24 Jul 2006 (CDT)

I Like it too. Much more appealing to the eye than what i've had on the front page. :D Shall the "blah blah blah" section be random links? Also, should it be a featured article in the box on the right? it would require to edit the main page every week, which really isn't a big deal though. just wondering what it is we want, as this does seem promising. *thumbs up* --Jacob 12:24, 25 Jul 2006 (CDT)
:We could use a Template:Featured, and copy the text into it each week... Or move it there, or something... --Macbeth 16:05, 25 Jul 2006 (CDT)

::Yeah, a Template:Featured or some equivalent would work better. That's how the Uncyclopedia front page works. Also, the blah links were actually just space fillers because I thought there might be more Special pages or navigation pages we should link to up there, but I didn't know them. --NeoEva88 16:24, 25 Jul 2006 (CDT)

::I thought maybe to lengthen the front page design we could have a quote of the day section, I got the idea from Wookiepedia. Maybe there aren't too many good quotes for Neopets though, I dunno. I have a little filler box on the bottom of the page that can be used for something. Yeah...Dance Party...I was bored. :S *ahem* And i've actually made it a permenant feature via template. I thought it would be a fun thing for the front page, as it serves two purposes: filler, and fun. will be changing every week along with the featured article...at least that's my intention. --Jacob 11:44, 30 Jul 2006 (CDT)

:I had an idea for a bit of filler... having a row of 100x100 px images, 'snapshots' of each world, with a link to their respective NeoDex page... One thing I think we should avoid would be a list of 'dailies' and links to them...
::Oh, I don't know. 'In-depth Trophy Catalogue' has a certain ring to it, I think (:P). Well, 'in-depth rainbow pool' and 'in-depth avatar guide', perhaps... Eh, maybe not :P. Those are both topics which it isn't really possible to get 'in-depth' about, is it? Were you to rename the NeoDex (in that fashion), you could always move the neopool and avatar sections down from full 'department' status to more of a sort of 'guide' level, as they are not so much as a collection of guides (as IDNQ, IDB, and, of course, the NeoDex are) rather a guide in themselves (if my overworked memory serves me correctly, I believe that the avatar catalogue, at least, used to be just a page in the guides section - although I do not recall whether it was actually listed in the guide section: I remember there used to a link at the top of the PPT main page, or rather, above the news entries, not exactly the top of the page)... Although, having said that, the approach to the site designs of the neopool and avatar catalogue does have some element of a... hierarchy, if you will - their own sections - that would be difficult (although not necessarily impossible) to integrate within the main body of PPT (I suppose it would really depend on the limits of how your CMS structures the guides themselves, presuming you use a CMS rather than do all the modifications by hand - the PPT NeoDex article is blank on the issue). They could remain 'separate' from the core of PPT but just be listed in guides, I suppose. Mind you, if these sections are headed by two volunteers (other than yourself, Yukio) in much the way Jacob heads the NeoDex, they could become a bit... Miffed, at having their distinction curtailed, if you follow. Of course, another way to go about it would be to divided the departments into two sections, not necessarily a formal boundary per se, but possibly one. Or you could integrate the Neopool and Avatar Catalogue (and trophy catalogue, I suppose) into one bigger section... In-depth Collectibles, perhaps? Item Registry. Y'know, a huge list of all Neopia's items sorted by type (neohome, food, faerie quests, toys, etcetera etcetera). I'd be willing to undertake the majority of it, with some help. -LifetimeMembership

:There is already an article titled Item, where wiki links to each of type of item can be talked about, and there is also a category for items, but the NeoDex, will not be a place for listing all the items of Neopets. maybe in the future, but at this time i see no such thing. articles for items can be made, but only noteable items, as i'm sure an article titled "Bread" as in the food item bread is a waste of space. :How about a Blumaroo sitting at a desk with a quill, constructed entirely of pieces of a jigsaw a la the wikipedia/uncyclopedia logos? Or virtupets space station constructed of such. It's almost spherical, so it could be identified easily with the wikipedia logo, and being spherical it would not be too difficult to create the logo to a high level of precision for it to be identifiable, and the Vitrupets space station is a recognisable icon of Neopia. --Macbeth 23:20, 29 Jul 2006 (CDT)
New-new layout
So good they named it twice. This new version (the version as of 8th November 2010) is meant to look a bit cleaner and fresher than the last version (which had been essentially unchanged for 18 months). It was born out of a need to make the layout sturdier (the boxes had started going different sizes), and I decided to incorporate some aesthetic changes as well. I think it's a bit tidier.

Also, clever though the obubble and ibubble templates were, they made it damn hard to maintain, so I've not reused them for this layout. I want to leave them on the system for a bit so the page works in the history, though. For comparisons, you know.
Hoban (also known as Hoban the Navigator) is a Yellow Aisha, and the navigator of The Cyodrake's Gaze. His personality varies according to the different accounts of other crew members upon the merchant ship, but he is basically portrayed as being an informal, slightly bad tempered, generally cheerful character. The contents of his shoulder bag also varies slightly in each account.
*One of the plot prizes for The Cyodrake's Gaze was Hobans Hat, a weapon for the Battledome, showing that Hoban's hat was more than just for show (as the item description says). Interestingly, the real Hoban's hat does not give off yellow smoke/mist, like the prize does, and it has never been shown doing anything magical in the comics or anywhere else.
*To date, no other male Aishas have been featured in plots.
*Hoban appears on the cover of the book Extreme Shenkuu, though his shoulder bag is a different color, his hair appears to be styled differently, and he is wearing red pants on the book's cover.
*After he threatened to sail the Cyodrake's Gaze into a storm, one really did come upon the ship, implying that he may have psychic powers like Isca and Caylis, or the power to control the skies or the sea, or both. Hoban and the two aforementioned Aishas share vaguely similar hair colour and a strong association with the sea.
*The name 'Hoban' likely comes from the TV series Firefly, as is suggested by the "Leaf on the Wind" avatar.

The Lost Desert Plot ran from August 30th through November 29th, 2005. This puzzle Plot revolved around Tomos, Nabile, Jazan and Princess Amira, all new characters to the world of Neopia.

The Neopets Lost Desert Plot was one of the more comprehensive plots Neopets had ever released. Not only were the puzzles difficult, it is the first time Neopets implemented a plot which required people to actively participate if they wanted to progress. The large Temple of 1,000 Tombs, unique to each user and requiring extensive mapping, as well as the enormously large Scroll Repository brought on a phenomenon known as OLDPD (Obsessive Lost Desert Plot Disorder).

During the beginning, most of the participants barely left their computers for fear of missing out on an important event that would possibly exclude them out of the plot; this would not be the case, however.

Extremely long waiting times, sometimes weeks long, drove Neopets’ users crazy with anticipation for new clues and/or parts to be released that would allow them to continue. This, combined with increasingly harder tasks sometimes taking 5-6 hours to complete, eventually weeded out most of those who had been there from the start.

The Neopets Team portrayed the marriage of Jazan and Nabile as the end of the plot.

On November 29th, 2005, the real ending was released. This second ending, involving the return and defeat of Razul, tied up several loose ends and tied in the end of the puzzle part of the plot.

After a long wait, the prizes were awarded on January 30th, 2006.
It's generally believed the TNT lost the data, or had no way to gauge how many were taken into the Scroll Repository.
Dr. Frank Sloth is an insane scientist bent on the destruction of Neopets and Neopia. Was once stopped by the Space Faerie in Arrival of Virtupets, and has since been working underground, creating evil plans and giving out Transmogrification Potions to clueless Neopians.
Currently in the works of attacking the Space Station and Kreludor while mascarading around Neopia as The Happiness Faerie. :Main Article: Arrival of Virtupets

In August 2000, The Neopets Team ran a plot in which Dr. Sloth came to Neopia with a giant, orbital space station and mutation ray, with plans of taking over Neopia and repopulating it with his Virtupets. In an encoded message, however, it was revealed that he actually intended to mutate all the Neopets of the planet. He was stopped by the Space Faerie, who reversed Dr Sloth's mutation ray and caused it to explode, leaving the abandoned station in orbit.
:Main Article: Hannah and the Ice Caves

A mock ending was made for Hannah and the Ice Caves, where Dr. Sloth appeared and changed Hannah into a Mutant, claiming revenge against her for cancelling his own plot. A few users were able to catch it before it was reverted to the true ending.

Trivia
*Although Dr. Sloth bears most resemblance to the Neopet Chia, it's uncertain if he even is one. In the editorial of issue 239 of the Neopian Times, it was asked what Neopet he was, and the answer was interupted by Dr. Sloth himself, angered that someone would consider such a thing.

Plot Summaries
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
During the events of Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, he was refered to as The Old Knight by Tormund when he was about to be overwhelmed by theives within Meridell(was called so until finding his true name within the walls of Altador). When Tormund as feeling helpless at what to do during a time of danger for Meridell, it was Altador's words which gave him the courage to fight for the people, and not wait for others to tell him what to do.

During Tormund's fight with Gnarfas, Altador knocked the Werelupe to the ground from behind, saying they must escape the danger before it became to great, only too be attacked from behind himself by the Werelupe King.

Gave his sword to Tormund when he went to search the deep catacombs of Altador to release Jerdana from stone.

Altador Plot
With the resurfacing of Altador, it is shown the history of the city is lost. By finding constellations within the sky depicting the 12 heroes, more of the history of the city is remembered. Altador's constillation is The Hunter.

From the Book of Ages
<blockquote>It is a little-known fact that Altador, the Lupe hunter, did not name the city that bears his name after himself. Rather, when the time came to name their future city, all twelve council members submitted a name by placing their ballot into a box. As Altador pulled each piece of parchment from the box, he was surprised to find that everyone but he had written "Altador" as their suggestion. In a single action, Altador demonstrated his hallmark humility and sincerity, and the loyalty he inspired in others.<br><br>
The heroism of Altador cannot be described in a single event, however. Rather, a lifetime of noble deeds and good character earned him the title of "hero."<br><br>
Altador was raised in a city of corrupt leaders. One by one, his neighbours left to seek a better life. Before long, little was left of Altador's hometown. The citizens wandered, looking for somewhere to make a new start. Though still young, Altador did his best to help by hunting for food. It was during this time that he began to develop his skills with the bow and arrow.<br><br>
The townsfolk soon settled and built a new village. Though they prospered, life was difficult without a city's resources.<br><br>
There were no great festivals, and trade with other lands was minimal. Once an adult, Altador left to seek out a new city, one with good and just leaders. The villagers gave him their blessing, hoping that one day he would return and lead them to a brighter future.<br><br>
And so Altador set out, travelling from one city to another. Along his journey, he kept hearing similar stories about the governors of each place he visited. Greed and an insatiable lust for power appeared to be widespread, and the governed always seemed to suffer for it. Altador might have lost hope, and given up his quest, had it not been for one fateful day.<br><br>
Altador crested a hill and saw lush plains, perfect for farming, beside a beautiful shore. This would be an amazing place for a city, he thought, staring in awe across the fruitful land. Too bad there isn't one here already.<br><br>
And then it came to him: Could he, a simple Lupe with no desire for wealth or power, be capable of founding a great city? Even if he could, it would take many years of work. How could he possibly accomplish such an undertaking all on his own?<br><br>
He would have to find others who shared the same dream--others who would swear to uphold what is right over what is easy, and not fall into corruption.<br><br>
Determined to make his dream a reality, Altador set off. It would take years, but he would find others to join him in building his city. In every town he met, the Lupe listened for tales of great deeds, striving to find others who could share in his dream. He would then gather all those living in the scattered villages across the land--including the one he had called home so long ago. Finally, he would unite them under one banner, which would represent truth and virtue... forever.</blockquote>
