The Altador Cup is a yearly sporting event that takes place at the Colosseum during the month of June. During the event, eighteen teams, each one representing a different Neopian land, compete in the sport of Yooyuball. Unlike other events on the Neopets website, the outcome of the Altador Cup is not pre-planed by TNT writers. Instead, the winning team is determined entirely by user participation.

User Participation
In order to participate in the Altador Cup, each user must first pick a team to support. In general, users are not allowed to switch teams after they have chosen one. After choosing a team, users can earn victory points for their team by playing any of the four flash games listed below and getting at least the minimum score required for the game. These four games are only available during the Altador Cup.
||Yooyuball<br>
*Yooyuball is the main draw of the Altador Cup. In this sport, two teams, each containing five players, play against each other. The object of the game is to score goals by getting a Yooyu, which serves as the game's ball, into the opponent's net. Yooyuball players use specially designed slings to catch, carry, and pass Yooyus.<br>
Minimum Score: Win / Draw
|-
||Slushie Slinger<br>
*Slushie Slinger was added to the Altador Cup in 2007. In this game, the player takes on the role of a Red Tuskaninny waitress as she frantically serves slushies to impatient, thirsty Yooyuball fans. The gameplay of Slushie Slinger was inspired by that of the 1983 arcade game Tapper.<br>
Minimum Score: 270 points
|-
||Make Some Noise<br>
*Make Some Noise was also added to the Altador Cup in 2007. In this game, the player takes on the role of the Techo Fanatic as he cheers on the Yooyuball players at the Colosseum.<br>
Minimum Score: 3,000 points
|-
||Shootout Showdown<br>
*Shootout Showdown was added to the Altador Cup in 2009. In this game, players must score five goals against the practice team's goalkeeper within a sixty second time limit.<br>
Minimum Score: 35 points

For the first four years, the Altador Cup Tournament consisted of sixteen teams representing the lands of Neopia. Following the introduction of Shenkuu, one team sat out each year to keep the numbers even, until the discovery of Moltara allowed a full roster of eighteen teams to play in Altador Cup V. Users could only support one team at a time, and could only switch between teams in the first competition, between rounds.

The first team to cancel participation was Kreludor for Altador Cup II - in a statement by Derlyn Fonnet, this was due to a malfunctioning gravity generator leading to reduced "muscle and bone" density. The following year they returned to the competition, but Kiko Lake could not participate due to travel issues. Brightvale was unable to participate in Altador Cup IV as King Hagan thought it would make the country harder to govern.

An additional team is available each year as the practice team, from Jelly World. While the members of the team are unknown, it's known the Goalkeeper is a Jelly Kougra and the forwards a Jelly Kau and Usul.

So far Lutari Island has not participated in any of the Altador Cups, though two Lutari have.
Trivia
*The first Altador Cup appeared to coincide with dates and times of the FIFA World Cup in Germany of 2006, and the golden orb, seen in the preview trailer, of the trophy bore a remarkable resemblance to the actual World Cup.
*Noted advertisements shown in North America within the 2006 tournament were a new Dragon Ball Z game being released in July 2006 and a new Garfield movie. For 2007, Evan Almighty was advertised.
*During Yooyuball game play when the Ixi and Grarrl news presenters are making their remarks about the teams, were a user to refrain from clicking the "continue" button, they would begin to ask the user to carry on, mention they see Tarla and need to hurry and catch her or reminding the user that sitting and watching them does not earn them points. A Spyder may also come down from the ceiling.
*Because there used to be 17 possible Altador Cup teams, and only 16 spots available for participating, every year, TNT had to choose one team to not participate, and choose a clever reason for it. The addition of Moltara City in 2010 made for an even total of 18 and thus no team was left out on the sidelines.
*Coincidentally, from 2006 to 2009, the winning team for each year's Altador Cup was the runner-up team for the previous tournament.
*Each of the 54 Neopet species is represented by at least one Yooyuball player.

The Neopian Times is the weekly Neopets newspaper, first released on January 25, 2000. Originally featured only some articles, but has become a large weekly project filled with comics, short stories, and continued or new series. It also features an editorial written by site administrator and Neopets co-creator Donna Williams. It is an extremely popular feature on the site. Dubbed as fan fiction, as none of the stories/comics take place in actual Neopets History.

How it began
First look
The Neopian Times started out not as pretty as it is now, but people could still send in stuff. The first issues were short stories, series that were pretty short and articles. The comics were NOT in the Neopian Times. It was only later on did they appear.

The first look of the Neopian Times had a banner of a man and a woman in 80's style with the text "For an easier life". This page still exists, but the links to the stories and comics don't work anymore.

OLD old Neopian Times

Second look
The second was made out of tables and most of them still had no comics. You can find it here: Old Neopian Times. On issue 57 the comics page started. This newspaper had an Guild Spotlight, showing and telling about one of the guilds in Neopia. The Neopian Times stopped doing this though. The banner was replaced by a Jubjub reading the Neopian Times.

Third Look
The third look was a bigger version of the second look. Changes that came with this look is the Quote of The Week (quoting something out of a story etc.), on the right there is something called More Stories, in which you can click one without having to go to the Story page and the big buttons that you used to navigate with have been turned into small buttons.

The banner with the Jubjub was now changed to how many Neopians had read the Neopian Times instead of just saying 12,500,000.

Older Neopian Times

Note that the link is to the last issue of the Third look. Use the Weeks thing to go back and few older issues.

Fourth look
The most recent one, and the one that most people know. It is a little bit like the third look, but it is easier to navigate in. It is not just a pile of text. The featured stories on the front page are in a blue table for example. The buttons with comics, articles and stuff have been replaced with text and a random caption is posted on the left, under the banner. The banner is now The Neopian Times with 1 blue quill on each side.
Editors
Mr. Shankly
"Quite Frankly, Mr Shankly"

The former Editor was Josh or better known as Mr. Shankly, but he left in issue 75. His trademark was his love of dung and most of the submissions in his last issue as editor as a farewell gift reflected his love of dung e.g Hippiesoul's The Dung Hero.

Snowflake
The Editor who replaced him was Felicia or lovingly known as Ms Snowflake. She worked at Neopets in various roles (such as Email Support) and rose the ranks to become the Neopian Times Editor until issue 195.

She has now left Neopets to become an accountant.

Droplet
Droplet then continued on and took the job of Editor. She was Snowflake's assistant.

Neopian Times Inside Jokes
White Weewoo
The White Weewoo is a petpet on Neopets. The author Laurensama, also known as Linny, wanted an White Weewoo to resemble Hedwig from Harry Potter so much, that fellow authors hid White Weewoo references in their stories, comics and articles.

The White Weewoo has become one of the symbols for the NTWF and was found on 23 October 2003. Snowflake gave the authors who were published in the week that the White Weewoo was released a White Petpet Paintbrush. October 28th could be seen as an Neopets holiday for writers, as the White Weewoo was officially released that day.

The first official drawing of an Weewoo in the Neopian Times was for this story: The Weewoo of White

Chet Flash
Chet Flash is a fictional non-existant character in the Neopian Times. He is pretty much everywhere in the Times. Comics, articles, and sometimes even stories.

The exact date of Chet Flash first appearance in the Times is currently unknown but here is the thread that started it all:

About the Articles, Stories and more!
With the Neopian Times, there are 4 categories of submissions: Articles, Short Stories, Series, and Comics. Each is unique in their own way.

Articles
Articles usually do not tell a story. Articles are informative, and the subject of one can range from an Interview With Sloth's Mom to a list of Tips For Creating Neopet Names. Articles inform or teach people how to do, play, or win something. Not all the articles have to be informative. There can be fun articles, like lists of Are you addicted too... and 100 things to do with....

Short Stories
Short Stories are very different from Articles. Short Stories have a beginning, middle, and end all in 1200 to 4000 words. They are not separated into any parts. Short Stories can be a comedy, an adventure or horror. You can write a story dedicated to someone you know, although it has to be in Neopia, or you can write about a book item on Neopets. Like, the Magic Paw, you can write the story of the Magic Paw how you think it goes.

Comics
Comics are different then the other two. The comic is made out of pictures (drawn by yourself) and need to have a joke. A serious comic series can also be made and submitted, although you do need to send atleast 2 comic parts at a time. Comics need decent art and a good, understandable joke.

Series
Series are long stories that have around the 1500 words for each part. The longest a series can be is 12 parts. These are stories with a plot that is too long for a short story. For example, it turns out to be 4600 words, it's 600 higher than the maximum limit for short stories. You can then divide it in 2 parts for a 2 part series.

Editorial
If you are lucky, you can submit a question and get it answered in The Neopian Times. These are on the 'editorial' page in the Neopian Times, and they go from gameplay questions, to suggestions to questions about the merchandise.

NeoQuest II is a role playing game within Neopets created by Mr. Insane, sequel to I. In this version, a new battle system was implemented, along with the use of more party members (a total of 4).

Following the same medieval and "in the past" feel, users control the role or Rohane who is presented as the son of a knight in Trestin of Meridell, but in acutallity is a captian of a spaceship, and stuck in a hologram simulation. While playing, Rohane travels through 4 other lands (Terror Mountain, The Lost Desert, The Haunted Woods, and Faerieland) meeting his other crew members (Mipsy, Talinia, and Velm) along the way, who are locked within simulation booths as well. Together, they try to regain control of the hijacked space ship.

Plot Summary
Chapter 1
Ramtor, King Skarl's advisor, takes the throne of Meridell from him and puts him in his tower's dungeon, and slowly begins to take over the land. In Trestin, Rohane notices this change in the land and decides to head out on an adventure with his Father's sword.

Chapter 2
A creature named Scuzzy traps the Snowager inside Terror Mountain. The paths across the mountain become clogged with snow, making it difficult to traverse, and monsters are swarming all the passes.

Chapter 3
A sandstorm rages in the Lost Desert, and Princess Vyssa seeks a relic, the Medallion of the Wind, designed to control the weather. After locating the pieces of the device, it must be taken to Zakharukh's Pyramid, for the weather to be restored.

Chapter 4
In the Haunted Woods, the sun is stuck in the sky all day long, making it difficult for the Wood's residents - including ghosts and vampires - to go about their business. The residents of the Haunted Woods are quick to point the finger at each other and the player must narrow down the unlikely suspects one by one.

Chapter 5
Groups of Dark Faeries are rebelling in Faerieland, coupled with an invasion of mercenaries and monsters. Many of the cloud paths are destroyed, and the Faerie Palace is overrun by the forces of a dragon calling himself King Terask.
